Is there a better way to get pep pellets aside from the expensive casino?

I don't know that there's any really good way. If you're at a level where Electrolight will summon metal king slimes, then Hallelujah + Electrolight will force any you kill to drop pep pips. A few sidequests give them. I think maybe the postgame shop in
Cobblestone
will sell them, but the price is probably pretty high.

What level were you when you fought Calasmos? I just got destroyed by him at level 68 in 2 turns. Did all the trials easily. Do I need to level up more or is there a place to get better gear? Heard something about the super sword of light too.

First thing, did you use the regular sword of light as an item? Doing so will dramatically reduce the difficulty of the fight. Second, yes, you can craft better gear, including an improved sword of light, through recipes located in the trials and from Wheel of Harma stages. To complete the improved sword of light, you will have to craft a sword of light again. Ingredients are the same as they were during the main game.

So I did a bit of grinding with the Electro-Light pep skill+Erik crit skill trick and I'm now lvl 54 except for Serena she is 51.
I'm close to getting the
Sword of light
is that ok until the "last boss"?

Lats boss I beat was kinda easy lol and pretty much all monsters are running away from me on the map :P

If you're on normal... I'm at the final boss at ~50 for everyone, and I entered the final dungeon maybe 5 levels lower (as I did a little grinding right before this final boss, and then was very lucky on the way back, if you see my posts last night).

So you should be more than solid.

Indignus was the first fight I truly had trouble with. Even gave me my first game over
I leveled up a little but I eventually leaned on Erik's Divide and Victimizer skill to kill it.

Since then I've gained like 5-6 levels just from random Metal King Slimes in this dungeon so I'm guessing I should maybe be good to go based on some information I heard
Indignus is harder than the final two bosses
Not entirely sure if that's true but I hope it is.

edit: I also keep seeing mention of that Electro Light/Hallelujah method of getting levels but is that for post game or is that good for act 2 since I'm not sure where I'd even get pep pip atm.

Pep pips
You can steal mini medals in the final trial. The gambling machine enemy. 10 per pep pip. Those enemies rarely drop a pep pip too. Also, black circuit hard is free and always gives a mini medal.

Went for the platinum yesterday/today, so I went back in and ground out the levels. Kind of wanted it because DQ and that's the last thing I needed to do. Got most of the trophies at once lol. Was hoping for all of them. But had a couple outstanding after first batch.

As discussed above, some sidequests and treasure chests have pep pips, but you're not really going to have a good way of replenishing your stock until you're the right level for Electrolight to summon a metal king slime. Your other options are to (a) use Hallelujah and then wait in that same battle until Jade peps up again, or (b) just skip Hallelujah.

In any case, unless you're really struggling (it sounds like you, personally, are not), I don't see any reason you'd need to grind metal slimes during the main game.

Yeah, I figured I didn't need to grind out levels but I enjoy being OP for bosses which is what most of the game felt like until I got to this dungeon. I'm not going to worry about it atm since it doesn't look like I really have a way to replenish the required items atm anyways. Getting a crit on a Metal King Slime seems to be doing the job as it is and it's working just fine.

What I did before the final boss (who I died to last night and will now reattempt) is

If you go right outside Gallopolis (the thing I found said at dusk, but idk if that matters) there will be those metal flying slimes; they often have hardy hands with them which are actual metal enemies. In that case, if you kill the hands first you can wait and do Hallelujah before killing the flying slime (though they may flee). Honestly same for saving whoever appears with the king slimes you encountered in the dungeon, though I only found one purely by chance while grabbing a mount on the way back in after doing the Gallopolis farming.

Electrolight seems like a lot of trouble/time without having those items ready.

But I only grinded a few levels because I felt just underleveled enough that I wasn't able to not feel overwhelmed such that I could strategize better. Now that I'm at a slightly better level I feel like I can actually apply some strategy to the final boss and be ok...

Beat the final boss on my second attempt (first today, after last night's)! Going to speak very vaguely, but...

Honestly, after like... what, 70-80 hours (though my save file's surely like, I dunno, 5-10 hours inflated if not more due to leaving the game open when I was distracted) of largely easy fights, it was extremely satisfying to have a fight like that! I definitely needed those 4 or 5 levels I grinded before trying it last night so that I wasn't too weak, as thanks to that it ended up being a challenging fight without being super overwhelming. Characters died but I never felt like "I'm barely surviving and just getting light hits in"; I felt like I was playing very strategically, using each character well, and could take losses here and there. I also got very good at swapping characters in and out within the same turn to be healed or rezzed without disrupting what the rest of my party was doing, which felt very cool when things lined up well and I gained advantage again.

Also, I appreciate some advice about equipment/items I saw in the past few days here a lot as it definitely came in handy to actually have a party member or two focusing on being a tank rather than dealing damage, and so on. Didn't super need that before this point but I sure did now.

The credits scenes were very cute, but uh... Rab, do you really need to go to that grave first thing? Given that his party talk beforehand is literally him saying he wants to go to Cobblestone right after to thank them, it felt real weird that he didn't tag along with MC/Hendrik/Jade...?

though I very much liked the The End -> teasing lines > To Be Continued; probably works better for the tone here than the sort of trailer other games do, hmm

Ah fuck
NOOOOOOOOO! Veronica was like my favorite character dammit. She'll be back in the postgame... right? ; _ ;

So anyway, new and improved Serena is insane. She's Rab on steroids, and covers basically everything Sylvando is good at as well. There really doesn't seem to be much of a reason not to make her and my MC permanent fixtures of my main party and rotate Erik, Jade, and Hendrik in and out for the last two slots, unless I end up needing a second AOE healer for a boss strategy.

When given the option to go meet with people in all the towns I instead went to the ruins south of Octagonia and pressed forward with the plot of the post game and now I'm wondering if I missed anything by not going to all the towns with ! and talking to people

You missed a couple of Cutscenes.

Started playing this, not too far in, just got to Gallipolis. Is it normal for the game to have a jump in difficulty around here? I have the challenging battles option but I am getting wrecked by these cactus things to a level that exceeds what I would expect. I think I am level 13 all around, underleveled?

Just had a boss where I died, but it was 100% on me and some very stupid choices. The boss was down to red health as I died. And then there was Dora, where after hours of grinding for materials/money for the best equipment and after many attempts at it learning everything about it, it's still possible to select "fight" and be fucked immediately.

(Hours past Dora-In-Grey, still thinking about that fight)

Regarding that boss

He is actually susceptible to blindness. At least that what my experience was with him. That status effect itself can help me to decimate his health for even 3 turns

What difficulty option, normal or hard? If hard, there's going to be difficulty jumps that are pretty noticeable early on in the game, say up to 30 or so, after that it kinda evens out. On normal it really shouldn't matter.

If it's cacti specifically, you might have ran into a rare one. Some monsters have rare variants when you enter combat with a low chance of spawning, and the rare monsters are a lot stronger than the normal ones, like a mini boss fight often. The rare cactus is gold in appearance and spams a bunch of strong attacks. You'll need to kill one for one of the sidequests.

If it's not that maybe you should check your gear, put skill points into things if you haven't and maybe your level is low. Actually 13 does sound kinda low for this part, I'm guessing you're playing normal mode, it's fairly easy to progress without leveling enough on normal. Could grind for 5mins to get 15 or so and have an easier time probably.

Thanks That's good to know, I also had another question where is a good place to make some good money at the end of chapter 2 ?
There is a town with metal slime headgear and armor but they are pretty expensive and I really need to update everyone's equipment before
Castle of Fear
Erik's Half Cinch ability work like 5% of the time so even stealing items from the monsters is not very reliable .

...the idea of needing money is kinda alien to me, hah. I rarely ever bought anything (specific weapons for stuff like the riddle quest, some parts of costumes that can't be crafted, etc.) and I currently have >200k gold.

Could you not just craft what you need...? Just about every character (minus the hero...) has a good costume at that point that I used and most of the parts are craftable. I also had some of those metal equipments on hand from somewhere but only used that one on the hero I think.

Though, as a heads up, if you'd like to know what you might not want to improve yet due to being replaced by stuff in the dungeon...
Jade and Hendrik have good costume recipes in the fortress, and also there's a better spear than you can craft in a chest in it.

I also think you can find some of that same metal equipment?

Went straight to the Tower of Time stuff after the credits and went back in time. Should I have explored the world there first?
Also I've noticed that chests I'd opened on the way to Yggdrasil are now back, does that mean basically everything from act 2 is 'reset'?

I finally finished up the post-game last night. What a ride, the story definitely went some places I did not expect after the main game ended.

I ended at 85 hours, with most of the party at level 64. Main party was MC, Sylvando, Serena, and party member #8.

And for reference I was playing on normal, because I'm a filthy casual.

Yeah, I was crafting a lot early in the game but I kinda stopped, guess I should go back to doing this and farm mats instead of gold.
Thanks for the info !

I just unlocked the boat to travel around. Is it worth my while to travel around and visit random areas, or can I safely just go off to the next area? Also, are the crossbow taret worth shooting? I'm not interested in grinding for platinum, but I also do not want to miss any good story nits or weapons/items to make things easier for me.

Targets net seeds.

You can explore if you want, you can get treasures/recipes/quests that way. Or you can just get those as the game takes you to the locations, which it will except for the islands (although some quests involve them).

Personally, I explore when given the opportunity but it is really up to your discretion and priorities.

I've just been trying to go to all of the towns to complete those little quests and bosses. They're so hard...doesn't help that I'm only around level 50-52. The octagonia double boss with the MMA fighters and spider were super difficult. I was already low on health after the fighters haha. I need to find a place to level up.

I explored everything + did all side stuff whenever I could, because I'm me, but right now you can't even access a ton of stuff so it's up to you.

There's a new town (with the casino) and the ability to backtrack a little bit but otherwise it's just a couple islands for now, and as MoonFrog alluded to there's some quests that will take you to them anyway if you want to leave them till then. (Though I think you can get one of those quests right now...?)

Drustan's trials are easier (at least at the start) than much of the content outside. Plus there are dungeons attached, so you grow while doing them.

The soundtrack is unironically giving me headaches. There are about 3 three tracks in the entire game and they're terrible. I had to turn the music volume down to the point where I hear only very little of it. This is not an issue of midi vs orchestra, but straight up shit music. It would have offended my ears in 1996 too.

Is Bedazzlement the same a Beguiled? Or is that the Blind Status? I ask this cause one of the rings says it protects against Bedazzlement AND Blindness, which i thought was the same thing.

I believe...

Dazzle = "seeing illusions" = accuracy down
Beguiled = character being charmed by an enemy

So if something mentions both I have to assume there's a difference in strength or how dazzle and blindness work?

In what I'm assuming is the second half of the game. It's weird, but it's become a bit of a repetitive connect-the-dots area rehash boss rush. Some cool story bits, particular those revolving around the Hero, but I'm not feeling as good about this as when I was playing through the game's first half.

Finally did it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Conquer the post-game final boss at lvl 44 on average (MC was 43)! With all Draconian restrictions! Super monster,no armor, no shopping! And even without using any pep pop!

Got some low-hp wipes (<1000hp) yesterday then figured out the last bit of strategy, and did it the first attempt today!

OK then the next topic would be how to beat the unweakened form :/

The approach is different in the second chapter

First chapter focuses on the town's problem. Second chapter focuses on character's relationship with the luminary

Ehh...

Maybe vaguely so. But Erik/Snifflheim is almost the same thing as first Snifflheim, issue-wise, just with his backstory too. And Jade's bit is, like, entirely the town; you basically the focus on her and Rab before you even see her again.

Though the characters do get focused on more in general, it's true, but I wouldn't say it's all tied to the Luminary either.

You have something on that restores HP/MP when walking on the field (Happy Hat), take it off to keep that from happening.
