Thought it was interesting that Nvidia updated their "Moon Landing" tech demo which released with the GTX 900 series cards for RTX. I don't know if they'll ever release these demos, but hopefully when MS gets their DXR Win10 update fully rolled out, they'll consider it. I'd love to have this and the Star Wars and Sol demos.

Original demo:

RTX update:

That's as close as a like-for-like pic I can find.

There's a couple more though:
They really just need to put out these demos. There used to be a time when we got a cool demo with every GPU generation and now would be the perfect time to bring that back.

I've been testing the 2080 Ti for like a week now with numerous games and I'm impressed. It does 4K60 in the majority of games and even more in some. I burned some money and got a 144hz 4K HDR monitor and it's revelatory. People really have something to look forward to in a couple of years when these get cheaper. Destiny 2 with HFR and HDR in 4K is just crazy looking.
At above 60 I am running into big bottlenecks though due to my i5-2500k and crap mainboard that can't even run the ram at higher speeds than DDR3-1866. 9900k needs to get here now.

We never left that time, Nvidia still puts out all of their demos here: https://www.nvidia.com/coolstuff/demos

This was updated for Maxwell. They didn't bother making any for Pascal as Pascal was more of a refresh with no real new features, but there's no reason to believe they won't be putting the Turing ones on the same page whenever they decide to start actually pushing out RTX content.

Any thoughts on what RTX 2080 (non-Ti) card a person should get? I would usually wait for reviews but with impending tariffs and price fluctuations I'd prefer to get one sooner than later..

EVGA FTW3. Couple of days ago they were in stock on their site.

I'm almost done putting this bad boy back together. Some more custom work to do tonight. Had to re-do my run from GPU to CPU because the ports shifted compared to my 1080Ti block. I would have preferred to have it all-tube instead of using the 90 degree fitting but my silicone insert isn't long enough to do multiple bends (I accidentally cut it in half building this thing last year). Ordered a new one so eventually I'll replace with a single tube and hopefully some perfect bends.

Should be all done tonight then I'm gonna run extended benchmarks and also try the Galax 380W BIOS.

That looks fantastic to boot. I need this shit ASAP.

No problem!

I really hate that they haven't released the demos yet. I assume MS stopping the update process required for DXR has upset their plans.

Very strong review. I'd like to see it against the 2080. It's very unusual that they have the exact same memory specs in both speed and size. The only major differences are in shader and ray tracing speeds. With many games heavy on the memory bandwidth, that makes me feel that the main benefit to the 2080 will be in ray traced games.
Yeah if the price can get down to 499 the 2070 looks pretty strong.

HardOCP also did "preview" looks at the Strix 2080 and 2080 Ti which looked at 5 of the same games as the 2070 review here.

Speaking of demos, did MS go back to rolling out RS5 or is that still in limbo since they pulled it?

My 2080ti FE shipped from Best Buy. I am still going back and forth about whether it's worth it to keep coming from a 1080ti on a UW 1440p 120hz monitor.

Sell your Ti and recoup some costs and it'll be reasonable. That's how I justified going from a 1080Ti. I'm also on 3440x1440 and loving it so far.

Anyone here interested in a Gigabyte 2080Ti blower version for MSRP? I snagged one on Amazon when they were in stock for all of 10 seconds and figured I'd give someone here a chance who hasn't been as lucky to buy it from me for no markup. I paid $1280 with tax. Amazon saying it's going to be released on Wednesday so I should have it Thursday.

Yea, it sucks because there's been some good ones.

There was this Mech Tech demo that they unveiled I believe with the 900 series (980Ti I think) to show off DX12 with conservative raster and tiled resources effects.

I'd love to see "Sol" (new RTX one) and Star Wars from Epic get released. Epic has had some stunning tech demos over the years. The "Digital Human" one is just crazy.

We're really getting there.. aren't we? lol

OK a month in and I adore my ti. I haven't been keeping up with the thread, fellow RTXers, do we have anything at all yet that does something with the RTX half of the card other than have it passively warmed by the other half? Anything I can show off or anything that produces a number that I can have some geeky fun with?

I don't think anyone really expected it to be as fast as a 1080 Ti lol. If you want 1080 Ti levels of performance you get a 2080. The 2070 is about the same performance as a 1080 which was to be expected.

Why not ? 1070 is as fast 980 Ti . When 2080 came out and it's only as fast as 1080 Ti , that's already such a disappointment and there's still hope that 2070 could be as close as possible .

And didn't I said "As expected " ??

So, when will we get the first software using the new Turing hardware!?

I don't know but it needs to be soon. I honestly thought SOTR was coming with RTX at launch so this is kind of annoying that I'm basically putting off on really getting into the game to wait for a fucking patch. I have plenty of other things to play at least.

970 >= 780 Ti
1070 >= 980 Ti
2070 >= 1080

Do people have such a short memory that they already forgot previous gens were offering better gains? You're hardly the first I see commenting how RTX series perf bump are in line with past series or that Pascal was the odd gen (when Maxwell was identical). Weird.
