Are there already any impressions from people who are reviewing the game on Reddit or Twitter?
But Rockstar is big-budget mainstream nowadays and that, along with the undeniable creative impulse that still exists within the company, is why Red Dead Redemption 2 plays as a conflicted combination of marketing logic and staggering artistry.
I'm going with 94. Critics are harsher this generation which is a good thing. I definitely think this game can hit 97 overall but I'm going with a safe 94!
Not really, rockstar are in the position where day before is the best option. People who buy only a few games are already buying it, GTA Wild West is a game selling statement to "casual" gamers. You only need to convince a small amount of people with reviews, these are the people who buy a lot of games. It's a busy season so these people may be trying to choose between a selection of games, day before reviews is a instant shot of hype that will push these people over the edge.It will probably score very highly, however it does show a lack of confidence in their product if they don't want reviews up until the last minute.
I really don't understand this line of thought. The two highest rated games this generation had their review embargo lifted the day before they released.
I still feel typically 1 day before release unless your Rockstar is a mistake if your game is going to review exceptionally well. Frankly most gamers are't on ERA and find out that such and such game scored such and such literally on the day it comes out. 1 day of osmosis of that information isn't a whole lot.Not really, rockstar are in the position where day before is the best option. A publishers confidence in a product does contribute to determining the embargo date, but depending on what's best for marketing at the time, the result can be the same.

I mean it makes sense for them, not for the consumer. Say they end up with a 90 MC score. That's great for most games, but with something like this, it would not be perceived that way. It'd hurt the hype. How does it make sense ? It's a single player game. Some people were saying 3 days review embargo for Spiderman showed a lack of confidence by Sony in the final product.
But now suddenly only 1 day makes sense ? They just don't want to take risks. They already have great previews and the game already has the advantage of being a Rockstar game.
Would get it Day 1, but I was expecting to finish Nioh in 3 weeks, it's been 3 weeks and I have probably only played through 10% of that game... I hate not having time and balancing social life, there's almost no time for gaming.
-The pressure of reviewing this game is immense. No one will have the guts to give it an 8/10
-R* controls these kinda things
-RDR was a Masterpiece
These are the reasons for an incoming 97
