Tbh., watching through the beginning of Next Door I don't miss the panel as much as I though. Will be happy when the full crew finally appears, but uninterrupted watching is cool too.I don't think I could watch this show if not for Yamasato Ryota.
Honestly this is where it starts getting better and better. Daiki and the 3 next new members stay a long time, and they were a joy to watch imo. I didn't care much for the starting cast actually.I started watching the first season last night...and I haven't stopped. I'm on episode 12 or 13 I think? The second episode with the kickboxer.
I miss the old cast. I know the new people just joined but I'm not feeling them at all :/
Did a lot of people feel this way and is it worth it to keep going? Any unexpected things end up happening?

Agreed. A bit later on, but Tetsu, Daiki and Yosuke Terrace House was some of the best.Honestly this is where it starts getting better and better. Daiki and the 3 next new members stay a long time, and they were a joy to watch imo. I didn't care much for the starting cast actually.
The whole relationship between Minori and Meat Guy(I forget his name) was weird. It was like they barely communicated and when they did it was extremely cagey and passive aggressive. I wasn't a huge fan of Minori, but still was a bit bewildered as to what she saw in him.Didn't realize we had a TH OT here.
I'm not done with Aloha State yet but yeah it is a lot worse than Boys and Girls In the City. I'm enjoying it but it is worse both cast and location wise.
The Panel is the best though, in both seasons, I love them <3.
By the way, what did people think of the meat incident when it happened? I can't believe how much drama that caused but I loved the panel reactions to it all. Haha <3.
I hope the new season isn't split up the way Aloha State was. That was annoying :/
Side note: I wish we had the original series on Netflix outside of Japan. :(
I checked a long time ago (well, more than a year ago) and it was missing more episodes. Cool to see they finally put them up.Someone can correct me because I might be completely wrong about this but while glancing through the Fuji TV FOD I only see 3 episodes missing (13, 26 and 62) from the original.
That meat looked like it was very expensive, and I definitely think they shouldn't have just eaten it like that.By the way, what did people think of the meat incident when it happened? I can't believe how much drama that caused but I loved the panel reactions to it all. Haha <3
Expensive gift from a client + he looked a bit stressed out with other stuff, this was the last straw, so yeah I get why he would be mad. That meat looked like it was very expensive, and I definitely think they shouldn't have just eaten it like that.
"...It was okay."Remember when they ate that guy's beef? That looked so good. I would have been just as pissed as he was.

My wife and I marathoned most of the subbed In The City last weekend and the wait for a new episode every few days is KILLING me. Very good so far though, but now that Seina's left it feels like everyone is looking for their place in the overall dynamic. And yes... Oji is real weird. But not in a bad way

Aloha State isn't something I'd wholesomely recommend to folks, but it did spawn some good housemates. Such as the ones listed above. Guy, Chikako, Taishi. (love/hate but made for a great arc and finale.)
Meanwhile, thinking about it while rewatching it a second time over the holiday weekend. The meat incident was some pretty major drama, but I appreciated that it ended up further developing Minori and Uchi.
However that said about their relationship
I believe they're not together anymore
I hope Arman does cameos in the new one.
He is the forever-resident.
I mean Opening New Doors.
Ahh.
I hope it's someone from Aloha State. It'll probably be Lauren/Wes if they're still in Japan. I'd really like it if Guy or Taishi or Chikako shows up.
I just checked Chikakos Instagram and apparently her/Taishi hit their 5 month anniversary
I'm open to having multiple returning guests though.

Speaking of the cast, Prince is... weird.
Also, Seina should seriously drink less. That much alcohol can't be good for you.
It was just presented very poorly due to how passive aggressive Uchi and Minori were towards each other. The core of the drama was how bad their communication was; instead of being straight with each other, Uchi had let all of those issues with Minori pile up so the this meat incident finally triggered an emotional breakdown.
There's fansubs for Next Door in the works! They're moving pretty fast. 31 of the 100 or so!
Don't get me wrong, I was very very well aware of what the crux of the issue was about and that it was about more than just the meat. I just found it funny that the meat was the straw that broke the camels backs. I don't know what but I thought it'd have been something else that would finally do it.
I think I heard Naomi Lauren Frank had gotten together with someone from TH. Uchi maybe? If so, are they still an item?
Oh no, totally, I agree. Sorry if my tone came off as argumentative.
I wish Netflix would just translate Next Door for the US. I don't really want to bother with setting up the fan subs and watching the eps on my PC.
Stuart444 YOU also works as an actress for J-dramas. She was good in Mondai no aru Restaurant and Reverse.
The form you have to fill if you want to become a member in the show asks "What do you look for in the opposite sex" so...YOU is in a lot of Hirokazu Koreeda's films, she is a great actress.
What's this about a new series? On Netflix?
Man I wish there was some gay representation on TH, it's one of the few faults I have with the show.

Yeah it's a shame
Maybe in a few years the culture will accommodate for more variety, though they'd probably have to increase the number of housemates too
