**THIS IS NOT ABOUT DRUNK DRIVING**

I'm interested in seeing different perspectives.

no, because it impairs judgement, leads to accidents, and restricts spacial cognition, all of which are incredibly dangerous when operating a large vehicle that could easily kill someone.

Duh.

No man... Just asking for trouble.

If you gotta be sociable, have one and call it. Be responsible, being cool gets you killed.

The limit is .08. One will not do you over but abstaining would make you a proper adult.

Uhh like, having a single standard drink? Fine I guess but the alternative of not drinking is better.

More than that? Does it really need to be explained why that's bad?

Incidentally, it'll be nice when we have self-driving cars on the road so this will be an increasingly obsolete problem.

It is never ok to drive if you are over the legal limit. If you want to drink and drive, ride a bicycle.

Yeah, a lot of people do it but it is a terrible mistake. I had a couple close calls growing up but wouldn't think of driving after drinking now that I am older.

Drinking anything? Sure. If I have a beer with dinner I am going to drive home without thinking about it and that is not a problem. Driving after drinking more than 2 drinks? Hell no.

people unfortunately do it.
i mean if you go to a restaurant/bar, especially during a football game. Almost everyone on the table had some sorts of alcoholic beverage... your telling me those people don't drive afterwards? they do.

but my answer is absolutely not.

Different perspectives...? WHAT...!? What perspectives are there besides that you are a danger to other people and yourself. Don't drink and drive.

Not sure how this is even a serious question. Not only is it dangerous to yourself it is selfish and putting other lives in danger. So no. It is obviously not okay.

Are you kidding me? Absolutely not. This isn't even up for debate. You are putting yourself and everyone elses' lives in danger because you didn't wanna take an Uber. If you drive drunk, go fuck yourself.

This is just asking for trouble because of wide variety of road types and conditions all over the world. Im pretty sure the CPU will notify you to take over manually when it deems that it is unfit to navigate.

I'll go one step further and if you're watching YouTube and blasting music to the point where you can't hear other drivers, you're just as much of an asshole as the people who drink and drive.

Like getting shit faced and driving? No. That's not cool. Going out and having a single beer with dinner? That's fine.

I am confident that a car with all-seeing sensors all around it, with the ability to wirelessly communicate with other cars, will always be safer than human drivers, regardless of road types or conditions. When I read stories about self-driving cars, for example, almost hitting human-driven cars, to me, that's a fault of the human. If all cars were automated, then all cars could communicate with each other to avoid all sorts of collisions.

And in every single instance, I'd trust a computer over a drunk human any day.

Two of the poll questions are very similar. If you wait the suggested amount of time, the alcohol should be out of your blood stream anyways, meaning you wouldn't be driving under intoxication.

It's obviously not okay to drive under the impairment of alcohol or drugs, because you put others' lives at risk. It's never okay. But if you have a drink with supper while out, but wait an hour or don't have more than one (which shouldn't make you impaired) then it's fine.

I got breathalyzed once because I was anxious when the cop pulled me over as I was getting onto a major highway. I'd been at a meet up with friends from another forum, and we'd gone to a pub. Since I'm not much of a drinker and am cheap, I let my friend who'd tagged along get drunk and just had one gin and tonic. I then drove home close to two hours later...an hour and a half at least.

My anxiety acted up, as even though I knew I'd done nothing wrong I still worried stupidly and unnecessarily, so he made me park and asked me to go to the trailer for a breathalyzer. I blew 0s across the board, so he told me not to be so nervous next time.

Yeah as long as you sobered up enough to be under the limit sure why not But that usually only happens at sporting events and food and wine festival

Lol unless you have a certified breathalyzer, those times are bullshit because you can't factor in how each individual person metabolizes alcohol and at that point if you're worried about that you shouldn't be driving.

I live in a state where DWI is rampant despite jail time for even the first offense.

So no, no amount of drinking before driving is acceptable to me. People suck

In your opinion is it okay to drive after drinking one unit of alcohol if you have waited an hour after drinking it?

considering that the average person will burn off a shot of alcohol in an hour, I'd argue that at that point you haven't drank anymore. The alcohol is out of your body. Your OP is clearly about driving with alcohol still in your body. What a weird attempt at a "gotcha".

Yo, people that are drunk generally have impaired judgment so they can't judge that they are drunk, making first and second choices extremely troubling. The solution is to just don't drink and drive

There are poll answers that show that option.

It depends on how well the systems are made.
You can pack a car with sensors, and a really fantastic driving system, and it'll blow away any human driver. We admittedly aren't there yet, but it's not some fantastically distant future.

Poll is flawed, as others have pointed out.

Drunk driving is immensely reckless and deserves harsh penalties. You get caught once, your license should be obliterated.

No. Don't do that. You're not making the decisions when you've been drinking. Sleep in your car if you must, take a taxi, don't drive under the influence.

I did it once, before I had a license. I don't drink at all now, but no, I wouldn't do it. I have been in cars lots of time with people who have though, so I can't pretend I haven't, at least on some level, condoned it.
