Water looks like jelly when you're walking in it, but that's ok. Everything else looks fantastic.

edit: God I miss Euphoria physics

The rainy weather looks awesome.

Also, is Micah Bell voiced by Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA V)?? It kinda sounds like him.

Really wish they'd design these games without the auto aim in mind.

I just hope the manual aiming isn't terrible like the first game or GTAV.

The music is pretty amazing.

Can't wait to say. "It's High Noon" whenever I use Deadeye.

That cinematic killcam is something I never knew I needed.

I cannot stop watching this stream but this guy is really bad at playing this game. Plays the game as if it was GTA, it's RDR, have some respect. :)

Also, can't believe he didn't went further into West Elisabeth just to see what is out there.

THE HYPE, THE HYPE! 16 more hours to wait...

Thoughts thus far ladies and gents?

I think it's fucking awesome. I am definitely getting lost in this game once it's out.

The only gripe I have is that the horse sprinting looks a bit stiff, but other than that, the game looks amazing.

It's far more engrossing than it has any right to be. Very few of the characters are all that memorable, it's mostly just going from one place to another on horseback and chatting with someone else about how much it sucks to be a straight white guy on the frontier, the shoot outs are super slow, and there's no build up to larger story moments so you could almost blink and miss them. And yet somehow it's super interesting anyway.

It is what I expected: A really polished Red Dead Redemption game with crazy attention for detail and what shapes up to be outstanding AI. I never thought this would turn everything on its head but it seems a lot has been optimized. Dialogue is a step up from the first RDR for me and I really like Mr. Morgan. He is an interesting fella.

My main takeaway: the ensemble cast with all the gang members really pays off. All of them seem great and it adds some variety.

Like rolling with Micah felt a lot different than rolling with someone like Lenny. And also different from a group mission with a handful of characters. Causes missions to feel unique despite familiar mechanics.

Another positive side effect of having all the gang members: it helps flesh out Arthur as a character. There are some members that he respects more than others, some that he has a history with, some that he clearly has a fondness for, and so his entire demeanor changes based on who he's with.

I'm someone who found Arthur to be kinda nondescript in the trailers, but it's clear R* was just keeping his dialogue mostly under wraps. He's plenty talkative and is surprisingly likable.

For those doubting the gore in this game

Li1UED3.gif

Very cool, I just got home from work and drinks, so I'm seeing this a bit late, but I was one of the people who was concerned about the lack of dismemberment from the footage I had seen. Seems like this really does put the issue to sleep, so thanks for the confirmation!

6 hours to go for me before the midnight launch.

Arthur is very likeable. That
drunken
scene sold me on him as a character.

"We do not pay much attention to what others are doing. We were lucky to be successful. That's why we do not feel obliged to publish a game every year if we have nothing interesting to release. ''

This is why I love Rockstar and CDPR so much, games are more than just products to them, sure they want to make money just like everyone else, sure they have a lot of overprice editions for their games, but the way they treated their work is just beautiful. These are people that have a profound respect for their own craft.

These are the only games that I am willing to purchase the Special/Ultimate/Collector/Whatever edition without even seeing a single review, cause they have my respect, and I trust them.

Does it seem like there's any opportunity for player choice branching in main missions? (sort of a la Witcher 3 for example)
Eh, I doubt it.

Certainly more than past R* releases, but not like RPG levels. Or at least it doesn't seem at that level based on the choices I saw. I guess it's possible there will be consequences near the end of the game.
