Incineroar, Ken (Ryu echo fighter), and Piranha Plant (DLC) announced as new Smash Bros. characters

Dissapointed though. Piranha is a waste, dont want more pokemon, kens cool though and better then ryu
Still hyped for the game. I imagine there saving bigger characters for dlc
...what? They were THE rumor. Box theory and everything pointed to them. People latched onto other theories because kencineroar was really prevalent and kind of a disappointing end.
I wish Simon and K.Rool reveal switched places with this one honestly. Just a sort of weak note to end on for the final base roster characters.
Things like Paragoombas and Piranha Plants were something I dreamed about but dare not ask for ever. Like Ridley I used to be hooked on drawing Piranha Plants as a kid, something about their designs always appealed to me. When Yoshi's Island took their designs to to really insane and creative levels I loved them even more. I used to talk about Petey playable back in Brawl but that was as far as it went. This is a super duper wonderful surprise.
Incineroar looks a lot better than I expected but would have still preferred Decidueye.

A lot of potential characters are now assist trophies or spirits. I wonder how many spirits there are.
But damn, inkling weren't playable till the next Smash Bros. Time to wait for 4 years for their next chance.

I wanted the megaleak to be real. But this is fine because there are 5 more characters coming within the next year. That's fucking amazing. And Petey Piranha is exactly the kind of fresh character games like this need.
I just hope they add Dr Robotnik and Banjo as DLC fighters lol
I'm all for unconventional body types in fighting games, but Bowser Jr. kinda already was doing the potted plant thing. Give me the Goomba instead. Anything but Incineroar
I don't know what I love more about this direct: the fact the box theory was right, Sakurai murdered the Grinch and put parts of it in bottles behind him to show the Grinch leak was fake, or the fact that he just stuck it to the people who harassed him about Waluigi by making the Piranha Plant a playable character.

Holy shit--Incineroar is basically Xana from Icons.
Their moveset is practically the exact same. Their specials have the same functionality--lariat, counter, leap-then downward strike and a lunging grab.
Consider me hyped, because Xana is a fun character in Icons.

I really love Pirahna Plant, Incineror has a moveset that looks better than I expected. Ken is kind of whatever to me.

I interpreted Sakurai's statement about being too new as more towards the base roster, but you do have a point with the K. Rool and Inkling costumes from the last game. Not a good outlook for him then.
Hope he (or someone from Xenoblade) gets in though.
I thought he was talking about Base roster, not DLC. They said that DLC development hadn't started yet. He doesn't clarify either way though.
Nonstandard body type, interesting moveset potential, and for funnies is my guess.
The real question is: did anyone see Bandana Waddle Dee in Spirits? I think this improves his chances significantly for DLC.

Fuck Incineroar. Legit salty that thats the new pokemon rep we got. Out of all the amazing pokemons from that gen THATS the one they chose :unamused: i wouldve preferred no new pokemon. The plant tho? I dig it. Its actually the only newcomer I'm actually interested in playing. Too bad its not a launch character and is also robbed of a neat cgi announcement
