can't wait for the OT

Love all the presented maps and I'm very excited how actual gameplay will work on them.

I gotta ask... I can't be the only one who hates this blue/orange iconography they've been rolling with, right?

Its so lame and generic and is completely inappropriate for the historical settings (feels way too flashy and modern) but they've been at it for so long I guess its just become a brand recognition thing...? It worked for BF3 but ugh. I hate it.

A tiny nitpick I know, just gives me vibes that all the BF games are stamped out of the same machine, that they have no identity of their own. Obviously thats not the case when you actually play the game but why the fuck market it like that.

I asked about it from one of the devs, and it was decided during BC2. It is the brand colour, cold and warm etc. mixing and yada yada (can't remember the exact tweet and can't be bothered to find it).

It is here to stay. They designed it to stand out from the other shooters.

EDIT.

TY Elenarie, that was the word :D

Battlefield heat signature (tm). It is part of the franchise brand. :)

Re-spec, yes! Does that mean like those perks? Or only scopes etc? (you could change scopes etc before already so I assume its perks)

Do we know if ray tracing will be enabled at launch? I thought it required the latest version of Windows that brought ray tracing at a OS level, and of course MS had to roll it back. Really curious to see ray tracing in action with my 2080Ti.

I was told by a friend who is getting review access and has been to the events that it will not be in at launch, it also has not been used in trailers. He said 2019 but idk if that is part of the press kit or what.

Tried some Battlefront 2 just now through the Origin Access thing.

I must say that I do not know if it's that I am either quite bad at it or not, but it also feels like I am at a severe disadvantage against other players and their upgraded abilities and stats through their star cards. Sure, they've fixed it now a bit so that you unlock and upgrade the cards through the points you earn when playing and leveling up the classes, but it doesn't fix the issue that as a new player now entering I am very inadequate compared to all my peers and enemies until I play a lot and gain also all those cards. I am afraid the perk system in BFV will be quite the same to anyone new entering down the line.

Nah. Remember BF2 isnt that popular anymore. People now still playing are the ones that put alot of hours in the game already. And are godly also with the game.
The star cards is big upgrades and you can keep upgrading them also. The perk system in BFV are "upgrades" also but have downsides also abit. Also new players also get the "upgrades" it just after some levels you can respec them more to your choice.

The weapon you start with is fully upgraded, tough. And you can respec it if you want. :)

True, but that's just the starting weapons of each class as far as I understand it, not the subsequent unlocked weapons that start at lvl 0. And most of all, the vehicles, which are much slower to level up generally than weapons due to their scarcity, which is gonna encourage quite a bit of deployment screen camping. My worry still remains that a player who is new will come in with a vastly inferior tank compared to one who's grinded his up to max.

If each weapon and vehicle came with a pre-set of perks determined by the developers to be the "easy" build for newcomers, and then over time you played and unlocked the option to start tweak them all, I would be a lot more at ease. You'd still have the progression of unlocking things for the people clamoring for that stuff, and you would have a level playing field for all players no matter their playtime in all fields of infantry, armor and air instead of, as I understand reading the notes and blogs, just infantry. A win-win I'd say.

It's a fair point. We did change quite a bit based on feedback from CA and OB, so let's see how the release and initial feedback go. As we intend to support the game for quite a bit, nothing is truly set in stone.

I hope so, I really want whats best for this series as one of the absolute oiriginal fans Battlefield has, 1942 demo on day 1 level. Battlefield V I feel could be one of the best entries in a long time, even put easily up there ontop thanks to just the core gameplay alone which felt great playing the beta. There is just some stuff around that core I would tweak a bit that I do feel holds the game back from really reaching the full potential. Just coming back from another round of Battlefront 2 where I am killed multiple times from players with much shorter cooldowns on abilities, faster health regen, literally more damaging ship lasers, I really really really really really reaaaaaaaaaaaally don't want that to be experienced by anyone playing this.

Can someone remind me of the changes to weapon attachments?

If I'm not mistaken, you still have to choose between 1 of 2 options and progress a tier system...and then you need to re-spec when you want to choose the other option, right?

We cant have duplicate weapons, can we? We have to re-spec the one? Or can we swap out the specs mid-match?

Im still a bit annoyed by this system, and wish they could just let us attach specs as if they were weapon perks directly in the game itself.

This way I can make a load out, slap 2-3 weapon perks, or even 4 depending on the "Class Heroes" that they introduced...but the way it is now, you have a weapon, it has about 4 tiers, and 2 options for each tier, and you mix and match through the tree.

emdspectree-web.jpg.adapt.crop16x9.1455w.jpg

What's the benefit of this system over just picking and choosing from a pool of available perks?

Im glad they have downsides to picking an option over the other, but the whole re-spec option seems like cumbersome UI tinkering that will annoy most people and act as a barrier for newer players.

Presumably not a big deal in the end because I will unlock everything on one weapon, and then can freely pick a style. But what if I want to switch something on the fly? Will these upgrades just end up creating two totally different weapons, which seems to be implied from such a tier system? Im curious of how all this ends up being balanced.

Im guessing this is mostly grinding to keep certain players happy with that carrot on a stick gameplay

Thas the same as battlefront 1. Battlefield has never had a history of this and id be quite surprised if dice went down that path

For others like me who may have zoned out. Do not forgot about the 10 hour trial if you do EA Access. I absolutely did myself but just got a reminder message on Live (as I just realized probably anyone else who does Access got the same message), so that is pretty sweet. Assuming I have to wait until the actual launch, but for 10 free hours that is fine. Money is a bit tight.

Is this available tonight for premier members? Considering subbing for the game tonight.
