This is one of the most shocking things I've seen a company do. A special livestream for this?! I understand that they have other announcements (I see they're announcing more multimedia projects), but this is ludicrous.

Wow, that is immensely shocking. It's odd that they chose to just tell all of this as a stream. A bit of a backhand to those who were expecting DLC details.

The Windows thing probably means some of the modding tools. IIRC they were releasing them piece meal, so we were supposed to get more in depth ones I think for more stuff.

Actually, wait, was Tabata the guy who decided on no women in the party and gave the BS reason of "well, you can't have a girl in a group of friends made up of guys and have them act natural"? Because if so... no real loss for S-E, then, lol. I hope he grows as a person.

He was on stream at that point yes, but he wasnt the one who made the comment, even if it was garbage.

It's one of the best selling games in the series and has gotten a lot of extra dlc for something nobody liked. And how many copies it sold is an indicator of how popular it is and the fact it continues to sell means SE will attempt to emulate it's success

You are wrong just straight up, it didn't do any damage to the final fantasy name. Anyone saying that has no clue what they are talking about.

So the extraordinary loss SE posted must have been all these DLC cancellation.
Now that Tabata has left, I really question the functionality Luminous Production is going to provide.

When you put it together with the previous extraordinary loss on the studio due to refocusing, SE definitely wasn't seeing eye to eye with him on whatever they were doing.

While I hope the next main line FF won't be such a crazy hot mess, in a weird way I kinda liked the "throw shit at the wall and see what sticks" approach they took with FFXV's DLC/spinoffs/side material.

Seems like the new game is still on, they just decided to transition the team from FFXV to the new game more quickly, probably because they didn't expect the DLC to sell well enough.

Not sure if Tabata was politely asked to leave as a part of this transition or if he had decided he was going to move on when FFXV's DLC wrapped no matter what. Could be either one.
