Problem is the dude who turned it around is still occupied with it. If he would make XVI I would be less worried.FF14 has turned around and is getting extremely good reviews every expansion
It would be interesting to know how it:s related to and how it will affect the new project that was presented just a few months ago in a Sony event. It really didn't seem to have generated a lot of excitement.
FF13 was was a mess FF14 was a mess FF15 was a mess.... I have little hope for ff16 and super worry about the FF7 remake
This sounds like it to me based on that Eurogamer article.I think the reason Tabata has left is because...SE are making BD2 work on FFXVI, and he wants to do a new IP.
Man, so much this. FFXV sold well (deservedly so — it's an amazing game), and they had a whole roadmap of DLC... and now this? At least Ardyn is still the pipeline, that's the one I was looking forward to most anyways.
Oh man I loved FFXV. Strange way to resign..must of been stuff going on behind the scenes.
Did I misunderstand the statement or did they say they don't want to make any DLC anymore and are just focusing on AAA development now? That's probably a good thing.
Whether he was fired or not should have no affect on the production of these episodes. SE made the decision to cancel everything with his departure despite the rest of Luminous Productions being there.

FF14 2.0 was great. FF13 and FF15 being messes also tie into the curse of SE trying to make their garbage proprietary engines at the same time.
It's the opposite all the Western teams have had flop after flopTheir western teams have been doing pretty decently, so they dont really have much to fear, even if they have to stagger Japanese releases. That's been the case for a long time. SE picking up a western branch is possibly one of the smartest things they ever did.

Its very clear SE want LP to focus only on AAA titles from now on, not DLC.
So from that Eurogamer article, this decision was made back in the summer? Also, curious to see why Tabata opted to leave altogether than having Luminous Productions incorporated into SE's business division or spun as a separate entity with SE investment.
Frankly, I don't see why SE would cancel the remaining FFXV DLC if he left voluntarily. That they don't replace him with someone different from the XV team implies to me they aren't convinced of the additional resources spent on XV on a management level.
Can't disagree with you there, it is a shame.Problem is the dlcs were the most promising thing coming to XV. Nobody cared about the shitty collabs and I didnt even touch comrades because I thought it was a waste of dev space. Honestly, it's a big fucking mess. I can't look at the game the same way. They pretty much reverted the characters who were supposed to be developed in the dlcs to the absolute trash they had at launch.
Well this shoots a hole into the whole he was fired for wasting money idea. Sounds like creative differences and they just cancelled everything he was working on. Doubtful they would have offered him an entire studio if he was such a problem
FF14 2.0 runs on a new proprietary engine, created from scratch alongside and just for A Realm Reborn, by the Luminous devs who literally used parts of Luminous. It was a focused engine solely for that game and not general purpose, which is why its development didn't take as long.
The upcoming dlc isn't important in the grand scheme of things. The entirety of the "story" is the royal edition. The upcoming dlc is a prequel if you like the game enough you could get it if not pass.
FFVII Remake is headed by Business Division 1. This situation has 0 effect on that game. What will this mean for FFVII remake? Release date shifted from 2030 to never?
Wow that's shocking. Glad I resisted double dipping with FFXV PC.

Hahaha, what?Eurogamer understands that Tabata was presented with the option to have Luminous Productions turn into one of Square Enix's regular business divisions, a course it now seems set on, or spin it off as his own company with Square Enix investment, though he chose to leave altogether. The departure was confirmed internally towards the end of this summer.
Nirolak gave the idea that SE wants a group to make non SE games.I never understood what was the point of the rebranding/segregation of Luminous P in the first place, lol.

True.I guess SE are just shitty trying to make multipurpose engines work for multiple games then
Wish I knew. This really bums me out, feels like they hung Tabata out to dry.
Hahaha, what?
This was Business DIvision 2, and they spun it off SIX MONTHS AGO!
"Actually, we made a functionally irrelevant business change to make this business division into a sub-studio for no reason, and have now completely changed our minds six months later. We now want to bring the company back in as a regular business division. Alternately, we can spin off this company all together."
?????

Matsuda mentioned in the past that it's hard to hire/get employees to think of doing new things/ideas because they are fixated on that's not "Square Enix idea".
SE has to SE.That does make sense. And doubly ironic now that they're probably folding them back in to create more SE games.
