Honestly shocked at PS Now share, since you have to be in supported country, but also have network infrastructure to work it right. I though that at least EA/Origin Access going to be bigger, since the price and availability on both MS platforms. I guess I was wrong.

In how many countries is PS Now supported? Besides that, what is the US pricing (as a reference) of this service?

I don't doubt the data, just did not expect this.

Yeah I always suspected that PS Now is doing good and we're in the usual Era bubble of not seeing it. Sony kept supporting it, they usually just drop support when something doesn't do well. Xbox is also pretty negligble outside of it's major markets and it userbase is considerably smaller than PS.

A few good reasons why PS Now will be further ahead in revenue:

- It launched in 2015 (2014 if you include the preview), more than 2 years ahead of Game Pass

- PS4 has ~2.5x the install base of XBO

- PS Now is officially available, in its entirety, on PC - allowing you to play the likes of Bloodborne on your laptop.

And thinking about it, EA Access is only £20 per year, so the revenue will be relatively small compared to its number of subscribers, in contrast to the other services.

On the other side, it should be reminded that PS Now is only available in selected countries (Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, USA, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) and the service was not available in all those territories as soon as 2015 (in France it was launched in October 2017). Unlike the download based services, it's also only working with a solid connection.

That said, the number of games on that thing is getting crazy (700 according to the PS Blog) although I would have no use myself for such a subscription.

That seems reasonable like it looks to become a culture thing... old players without that culture in mine have issues paying subscriptions plus spend money in games after the original release.

If their wallet is already pried open more is surely going to fall out.
If you already are okay with paying for things like just being able to play online, chances are you are also willing to spend money on other stuff a bit more loosely.
I still don't like Microsoft for making paying to play online an accepted norm.
I mean these days you actually have people looking down on folks who don't want to pay for xbox live or who care about actually owning games. We live in crazy times.

I can understand the mentality of playing a game that was provided by a subscription and enjoying it enough to not be concerned about the price of the DLC.

I'm curious how many Game Pass subscribers utilize the discount to actually purchase the games. Does Sony have a way to purchase the games at a discount?

This is very surprising to me, I guess I'm out of touch? None of my friends have PS Now and I figured the focus on streaming would be a major hurdle for many, though sensibly they are pivoting into downloads too right?

Even with the differing install bases I thought Game Pass would be closer.

PS4 has sold close to triple the consoles and Now is available on PC.

It also costs way less. If we're talking revenue this was obvious lol

Eh, I wouldn't go that far. More popular, maybe, but I wouldn't call it "good" yet. I still have latency issues and their UI/web page is a travesty. Also, very costly.

Why exactly is this surprising? Sony has triple the user base of Xbox and supports thrice as many countries. It makes perfect sense.

Interesting stats for sure.

Good to see some positive news about PSNow.

PSNow news is surprising because according to some hear Sony is about to get rid of it, no one uses it.

It's like how Sony rarely talks about MAU.

They do, just not as much.

Makes you wonder tho why they don't post more positive PR things like this or PSNow and F2P not needing Plus for online multiplayer. I understand why for the not needing Plus, lol.

Also why EAAccess isn't on PS4. It's makes sense, even tho I used it alot on my One S.

I would pay for a sub that would give me episodes of games like uncharted (or charpters)

They updated the UI catalog yesterday now its more fluid and has more sorting options and now you can exit a streamable game browse the catalog, download a selected game and enter the stream where you left off.

Also, input lag and latency is dependent on your IP, How far you are from one of their server farms and how well your packets are being transmitted without any drops, etc. For me, it's almost none existent unless I play an FPS or Fighter game.

Really surprised by PS Now, I don't know anyone that subs to that but plenty that do use Xbox Game Pass and EA Access.
I'm in the UK so would be interested to see regional data to understand where/ why its doing so well.

I'm one of those people that spends a lot on games, but nowhere near as much on Xbox anymore, because of Game Pass.

Where I would've spent £40+ on an Xbox game before, I now spend £8 and cancel within the month.

I think a thread dedicated solely tot the revenue chart was warranted, it is the only reason I have visited this one. A title like that just doesn't fit the contents.

Either way, what kind of sub numbers can we conjure from this chart?
1.88m PS Now, 0.52m GP? (assuming the average sub pays $25/quarter)

Sony prefers to talk about, and promoting, PS Plus over PSNow. PS Plus just gets them more money and more importantly, scales up better. PS Now actually costs a lot of money to expand, if people start using the streaming service more, Sony would need to really increase server farms. While PS+ subscription growth doesn't cost as much to maintain.

Sony kept talking about PS Plus's massive growth and profitability to investors and shareholders in recent years, they were VERY happy with it. PS Now is likely small potatoes in comparison.

I never see any aggressive marketing for it, that's really weird.
MS overdoes it MAU talk. Well, all talk actually. Which always rubs me the wrong way.

I was under the impression that it wasnt very popular due to Era haha. Glad its successful but they need to improve each service dramatically for me to be interested.

Not believable when they generating more revenue than EA access and Origin premier as well. Who are all these subscribers streaming PS3 games? You have to provide verifiable data to believe this is even true.

Yup

The most interesting caveats to us as hardcore gamers, especially when it comes to XB gamespass and PSnow are not highlighted in the thread title. Although I don't think it was Ghostcrew's intention the important, shocking, and game changing points to era's narrative about streaming are, in my opinion, definitely buried without the other thread.

I tried PSNow back when it launched in beta form and liked it well enough, beat a few games and even Platinum'd one (Dead Island Riptide) which required coop play. Only reason I haven't subscribe is because I already own pretty much all the games I'm interested available on the service.

That's impressive, specially considering that streaming isn't that widespread. I just see Sony pushing the service harder next Gen.

Also I'm surprised that EA services are bigger on pc than Xbox They should release Premium on Xbox too.
