I guess I'm not too disappointed because I never expected a big jump engine-wise on Fallout 76. That game began development before Fallout 4 launched, so it's not surprising they're both running on widely compatible versions of the same engine. We know for a fact that Starfield and TES VI are both getting new animation and physics engine tools, at the least. A new animation process is supposedly already being implemented in future titles, according to Howard, and job listings for Zenimax Media clearly indicate a revamp on the engine's physics tools.

It's giving me the 'install' bug again this test, didn't click on it this time and just launched via the exe and it was fine. How do I make the play button re-appear so I don't risk accidentality deleting it?

Edit: It won't let me in, just keeps saying disconnected from server.

I could swear it looked a lot better in the E3 footage. This is definitely disappointing graphically, after three years since 4.

The problem is BGS needs to improve a lot more than just the animations and physics.

Think I've hit the limit of BS that I can tolerate with this game now.

It just totally refuses to play smoothly. I've tried low settings, low resolution, changing monitor refresh rate, a full reinstall, clearing config files, new driver install, and absolutely nothing works. It plays at a choppy 45-50fps throughout even though it's barely utilising ~35% of my CPU and ~45% of my GPU. No other games I play have this problem (including Fallout 4), but the real kicker is that neither did this until the current patch dropped with the frame rate cap in place. Before that I was playing at a solid 72fps on my 144Hz monitor.

Anyone had (and fixed) a similar problem? Would like to know before I cancel my preorder.

I kept hearing someone making sound inside my romm when creating my character and I even heard him play the guitar and to my big surprise he bumped into my character when still being created and made me shake. When I started playing I couldn't see anyone there eventhough the map shows there are real people there. We can't meet characters in the vault or what?

I think the game is interesting if you want more Fallout 4, but I just can't get into it at its current stage. I'll check it again once more things have been added and see what people think then

Why are Bethesda's programmer so shit? Like are you kidding me now, you can't even adjust FOV without the game breaking?

Seriously these people should be FIRED, they are killing Bethesda, just look at this fucking game. Why would any company waste money to hire such useless people?

Before you freak out at my post, please take a good look at all the issues in this game (and in Fallout 4 too), this is what we are getting at launch, people.

I really don't want to be rude, I used like like Bethesda games, but now they just seem broken, their design is broken, their decision is broken and even their QA is broken. Just what the hell is going on?

Bethesda is going to be like Telltale one day, mark my words. Their incompetent programming and QA is going to be their down fall.

I don't think I am ever going to buy their games ever again.

Seriously, Bethesda don't deserve the money.
They've been technically atrocious since Arena. I can't see them ever changing.

I was having issues getting in (PS4 NA), with it saying "server not responding" for at least 5 minutes, but then I restarted the game and got in immediately. So, if anyone else runs into that issue, try that.

I played the game for like 5 hours and it was enough. Everything about this game is a hot pile of garbage. The way it looks, runs, controlls. Its awful. Bethesda fans will buy it so sadly it wont tank. Seriously how can they release a game like this in 2018? Feels like im playing a garbage early access steam title from an unknown developer

I am definitely not the target audience as my least favorite parts of the game are base building followed by the multiplayer aspect, but I will definitely buy on Steam when it comes to play as a single player Fallout. I enjoyed the beta.

My screen keeps going black after 5-10 minutes in game.
Can't tab out either. Anyone know what this problem is?
Wasn't a problem in previous beta times.

EDIT: On PC.

What else do they need to improve?
All of the engine issues brought to light by the pc beta, the npc AI, draw distance/lod (distant ground textures look horrible and there's a massive amount of pop in), the huge amount of loading screens/separately loaded areas, whatever's up with the engine that keeps BGS games from having large settlements/cities and higher npc counts.

That's just a few off the top of my head.

Mirelurk Cake with Bloodleaf aioli. Lol. I love all the new recipes.

The map loads super fast now. I built a bunch of leather armor for the XP and now I have a ton of stash space. The key is not being a hoarder. Get that XP crafting!

I dunno if it's just me, but I feel like my performance is actually worse with this new patch. Or maybe I'm just in a laggier area?

This was a great session. The game has come a long way performance-wise throughout the B.E.T.A., at least I couldn't feel anything but one momentary freeze on my X.

Anyway, now that the B.E.T.A. is over I will probably publish the OT on Monday. I should really get around finishing it.

Well, that's it for the beta? I'm sad I can't play until next week. :( I was really making progress. Almost to level 14.

Man, the holotapes at the amusement park are sure something creepy.

Got to a "main" quest session where I have to earn points by doing events or killing starred monsters. So a more open ended thing. Wonder if I'm approaching the end of that storyline. Obviously most of the quests just boil down to tasks that either a robot, holotape/corpse, or AI tell you to do with very little in the way of choice or consequence...

Great session. I made a pretty big dent in the Grafton area, and there's still so much left to do. It'll be weird playing this without worrying about time management,

And hopefully we'll start hearing about additions to the game. New events. New items. Stuff like that.

Now we wait for the trainwreck review thread. Get your popcorn ready.

It's gonna score 76 at worst. If you really want to have some fun, check out the Fantastic Beasts reviews.

I got a good quest that lead me to getting power armour.
I'm only level 13 so can't actually use it properly yet...

Found my first cool quest before end of beta
Initiate of Mysteries?

Still too much god damn weight and I dont even know what it is! Probably a surplus of ammo I will never use. Also why can I get level 2 lockpick! I am level 15 with 7 Perception.

They really nailed the atmosphere. I found a holotape from a lady that gradually lost her family, first her husband and then her child. The holotape ends with her abandoning her home because now she lost her dogs too, and was going away to kill whatever it was that killed them, never to return. The entire miner strike concept and ghost people is also very eerie, hopefully there are more holotapes detailing their story.

As the servers were about to off-line, I encountered my first PVP. I am sure how it works. Can anyone just attack you?

I wish vendors had more than 200 caps. Spent a good chunk of my time today unsuccessfully trying to find more vendors to sell my bulk junk to.

Found my first power armor today; can't use it until level 30 or something, but it was fun running around in the frame for a bit.

I've been rolling solo the past couple days and I'm digging this game. I'll probably wait for a price drop and for some stuff to get patched, but I can see myself putting some real time into this game over a few years if they have seasons and updated missions.

Before the servers went down and when the timer was still running, I left the game to go to the shop and get some cosmetics but when I tried to join the game again it didn't allow me. Why did they do this? We are allowed to join the game in the fe minutes left.
Also they need to solve the button mapping problems. Who on earth would jump with triangle and interact with X? All other games have them inverted. When trying to map the burrons in the correct range, otehr features get mesed up like the pipboy photo mode and menu, So I left the default controls while it wasn't practical at all.

Well put in quite a few hours but only about one today and was pretty much done. Got to level 22 and explored about 70 percent of the map. Performance issues and lack of PC oriented options really put me off. I really thought the game would ship in a better state. I see the potential and the world is beautiful but the gameplay loop didn't hook me cause of how annoying everything was because of an awful UI and always lacking storage. There is potential, there is plenty of game for those who can run it better and can deal with lack of basic options and I really hope they support it and tweak things that need fixing but the beta convinced me not to get it. Too much else to play at the moment and not happy to pay full price something that lacks basic PC options.

If both of you are above level 5, then yes, they can "invite" you to a duel, sort of. I really feel like the PVP in this game doesn't work and there should be separate servers for PVE and PVP, or server-matching preferences.

It works great for me in that I never get attacked. Haha. Griefing is a non issue so far, which is all I cared about.

I found out today that all the Responder vendors have shared funds, which was a major bummer as I wanted to make some money. I also found out that items you purchase from them only increase their funds by half or less of the purchase price of the item. I played for four hours after selling some stuff and the vendor did not get more caps.
