That $199 Astro Bot + Moss bundle is enticing. I've been sitting on titles I've been wanting to purchase for a while (Star Trek Bridge Crew, Resident Evil VII, Doom VFR, ZOE Mars, and some others). My question is, do y'all feel confident that PSVR2 is coming next year? I don't want to get it PSVR this year but have it be completely obsolete in less than a year.

I wouldn't expect a decent hardware upgrade until the next console generation.

If PS5 releases next year, I don't think PSVR2 will be launching with it. It would be too much of an initial investment for the mass market to swallow, and by year 2 people would be expecting discounts even though most people wouldn't have bought it near launch.

PSVR is great. If there are sweet deals on black friday, absolutely go for it.

It will never be obsolete, I can almost guarentee backwards compatibility.

Buy the bundle.

Sell the games when your done, hell even the camera if your completely done with VR and the headset would only cost 80

No way psvr 2 is coming out next year. A revision maybe but nothing major

It would be silly to release it before ps5. Despite what many may think, like Move/Kinect/EyeToy etc PSVr is meant to help extend the gen.

If a 2nd version comes out it would be at PS5 launch at the earliest but probably after since, we'll ps5 would need a midgen bump anyway at some point. They did slim, Pro and VR in 2016 for ps4 as it was selling better and better so no reason to think they don't do the same 3-4 years after ps5

That is literally my only reason for not jumping on that $199 deal later this month—worried that it will be obsolete next year. I really don't want to finally dive into VR only to have the PS5 release alongside PSVR2 and have it be amazing and wireless or something like that.

Does this bundle come with the camera and move controllers too?

No way hat PSVR2 is coming next year. I'd say closer to 2021 or 2022.

Do it OP, it's a steal at that price with those games.

RE7 will blow your mind in VR (it did for me anyway). Truly on of the greatest gaming experiences I've had.

All PSVR's come with the camera. It's mandatory.

The Moss + Astro Bot doesn't come with the move controllers (neither game uses them).

But the Creed + Super Hot bundle ($50 more) does come with the move controllers.
Got it ty. I thought I saw headsets being sold without cameras before for some reason.

I agree that PSVR 2.0 will be at earliest 2021-2022. And I think that is a good thing.

Maybe the 1.0 versions manufacturing cost will be low enough for a really low entry and if by chance, PS5 is next year, I'm 95% sure PSVR 1.0 will be usable on it (even if it has baked in stuff for PSVR2.0).

Don't do it. It's a proof of concept, but not a very good device overall.

The Move controller tracking really kills a lot of the fun in PS VR. Doing the challenges in Superhot VR feels impossible because the Move controllers are so bad.

I'm hoping for a second version of Vive (not the super overpriced Vive Pro) till I get into VR for real. I'm gonna pick up Beat Saber and Astro Bot for the PSVR though.

I can't imagine they'd be investing in either a revision or a 2nd gen headset to pair with current tech, and I doubt it comes the same year that the Ps5 comes out either. I'm also fairly confident that the current headsets will work with Ps5, in order to facilitate a smooth upgrade path to PSVR2 in due course.

On a related note, I wish Sony at this point would just bundle the move controllers permanently. They're based on tech from 2010 and are a pretty vital part of the experience, and I can't imagine they're costly to produce.

Meh, I'm waiting for VR devices to get smaller and completely wireless. Doesn't matter how cheap the current offerings get. Bunch of my friends got Vives and they were amazing as a new toy, but quickly got tedious to even bother using.

Totally worth it for Polybius.

Astro bot, RE7 and Wipeout are great too. Just something about being inside and old arcade world with programmer graphics really gets me going. Feels way more surreal and immersive to me than say, blurry Skyrim.

I don't think it'll come next year. It's worth it for those games you've mentioned.

Next year? More like 1 year after the PS5 launch. So around November 2021.

The social experience of VR with friends/family around the holidays is some Wii-launch tier fun.

I personally think it's worth having one around Thanksgiving and Christmas purely for the sake of that alone.

oh I've been planning to buy 1 this Black Friday for 2 months, lol.
I'm excited.
So many good games I've been missing.
Hype!

About your question, I think the PSVR2 will arrive at least 2 years after the PS5, if you ask me.

This is my problem as well OP. I'm so damn tempted to grab that Moss + AstroBot bundle, but I just can't bring myself to do it. PSVR is great from what I've played, but I know I'd be buying a piece of tech that isn't far from being outdated. If it felt like current-gen PSVR games wouldn't work on whatever the new headset will eventually be, I'd probably bite.

There is no chance a new PSVR is coming next year at least if you're talking about a PSVR2. That will be held for the next console at this point. For $199 I really think it's a must buy. You're also getting 2 of the best games on the platform currently in Moss and Astro Bot. Really can't go wrong there.

I will without a doubt buy that $200 PSVR Bundle if it shows up on Amazon. It doesn't include those Rod-Like controllers though. Are those essential at all for PSVR?

If it's cheap enough in the UK, I might consider, if not now then sometime in the future. Being visually impaired, VR is closest I can get to seeing like a normal person!

I wonder: why no one is recommending ZoE 2nd Runner mars here?

I bought it recently and am having a blast playing it (for the first time ever) in vr.

Astro Bot and moss are a must too
