That's a very specific situation in pvp that it doesn't really affect your weapon options at all. Engagement distances matter more. For instance, you don't want to run 2 SMGs, as you'll be lacking range.

If energy weapons being able to kill supers slightly faster made that big of a difference, the most popular weapon in pvp wouldn't be a kinetic weapon, Mida.
Conversely, if they didn't make much of a difference, why even have it in the game?

Also, FWIW, the most popular weapon in PVP is Uriel's Gift, an energy weapon.

Dear Bungie,

Please patch the cheese or make it so you don't get rewards if you do it. People rely too much on stupid exploits to the point where they're incapable of playing the game properly. It makes trying to do raids as intended, a total nightmare and nearly impossible with randoms.

Sincerely,

PXG

Its funny that they'll the let Deej come out on livestream and do fairly boring content updates but the guys in charge are to cowardice to face the community directly and content to hide behind the blog.

Good stuff. However, the fact that it's not stream-ready probably means it won't come with CoO. Looks like we'll be getting an IOU instead.

"Will arrive in the next few weeks." That, coupled with Luke talking about how this week they were gonna detail the systems side of CoO/Season 2 update, I think it'll be a mix. Some investment/economy stuff with CoO/S2 and more detailed stuff for stuff a little further down the road.

Bungie guys were literally just on Crucible Radio talking about decisions and design philosophies made in terms of weapon sandbox and subclasses.

They're not doing a lot of it, granted. But they're not "hiding." You would be a little hesitant to be on a live stream as well if you were receiving death threats from your "fans."

Not too far off from what an actual reply would be.

I still run Prestige every week because I enjoy the challenge. I like to know that I've perfected and mastered what it has to offer. Plus, I'm only two pieces away from having a complete set across all three characters.

Everyone I normally run with just has no desire to play at all. So I'm stuck with people who've NEVER beaten Prestige mode at all or those who can't do it without bullshit tactics. Then again, some of my friends and better players will be on later. It just makes me miss the days I could hop on whenever, and within 5 minutes, get a squad of A list players. We'd breeze through everything with no fuss. Even if we had to carry someone it was no big deal.

Do you think they cancelled the livestream because of the shitstorm ?

More important things to talk about than armor and weapons that people are gonna earn anyway. That was the community feedback after the last stream, combined with the constant feedback that fans want to actually be surprised by loot drops, plus community pushback that there were more important things to talk about = stream was redundant and unwanted.

I imagine that if the stream was like the last one, they probably felt it was best not to show it off.

interested to hear what they have to say. I've been still playing Destiny 2 regularly but I would love an update.

I'm happy they came out and said that they are changing this weeks stream to address the issues.

Please give us a gun range, please give us a gun range, please...

It kills me that I can't compare gun damage, dropoff, accuracy, etc. at variable ranges. Even Splatoon has this...!

You can, you'll just have to use DIM.

I'm aware and that's useful, but '78 range' doesn't really tell me anything since I have no point of reference in-game and range numbers aren't comparable across weapon types.

So to get a good feel for your weapons' general range capabilities, you need to either learn to intuit the relative ranges of each weapon type or head out to patrol areas and compare each and every weapon against constantly moving targets. Then, you need to keep in mind that energy weapons do roughly 10 percent less damage in PVE compared to kinetics, which isn't the case in PVP. Then, there's PL differences between weapons themselves that make things difficult to compare in a patrol zone. And so forth.

All in all, it's such an obvious thing that almost all of the shooters I've played have implemented but for some reason remains elusive to Destiny -- a game built around getting/collecting cool guns. I've been getting into the PVP a bit more lately and it's just been a huge hassle.

So has Bungie said anything about how current tokens work after S1/launch of Osiris DLC? What I mean is, should I be hoarding all tokens and gunsmith materials right now to turn in after the expansion hits for either newly added rewards or simply higher power rewards, or have they mentioned doing something like with faction rallies where you lose the tokens when the next season starts to prevent pre-farming?

Honestly, I'm pretty positive they haven't said anything, so I guess what are people's general thoughts on the matter? I guess I have all weapons from all token sources so no reason to turn them in anyway so might as well hold on to them just in case.

Pretty sure they hinted at tokens staying, but how we use them changing. Less RNG rolls, more being able to buy what we need

Maybe I'm misinterpreting the situation but cancelling that stream only 24 hours before it was due to happen, on the back of the recent negativity from the community and gaming press, just feels like damage limitation to me.

It's less damage limitation and more about focusing the narrative.

That could be part of it. Keep in mind that Luke Smith was out on Twitter, yesterday I believe, saying he was going to talk about stuff this week anyways. Maybe they felt that they couldn't have the OG stream and everything Luke will be discussing in under an hour (typical Bungo stream). With the reception of the last two streams, focusing on what Luke will be talking about was the right call. Even if it is just damage control.

Tokens as they stand are just fine, but they need to offer a way for players to buy vendor gear without them. If it were up to me, I'd do something like this:

+ Require more tokens (100) to rank up a vendor or faction. (Iron Banner and Faction Rallies shouldn't require 100 as they're only around for a week. Trials and Raid vendors should remain the same.)
+ Rank up packages drop at light level or slightly higher
+ Legendary shards used to buy vendor gear at 270.
+ Vendor gear rotates weekly

This gives planetary vendors the same basic functionality they have now, but with the added perks from Destiny 1 vendors. Increasing the amount of tokens it takes to rank up gives Bungie the peace of mind that people won't go crazy with rank up packages. They could give added value to the rank up packages by including vendor exclusive ghosts, sparrows and ships.

I fixed that for you, Bungie. Send me a check.

Just let me buy things with glimmer and have a planet each day yield more glimmer than the others. Tokens are annoying shards are annoying, strange coins should come back.

I'm ok-ish with tokens, but honestly I'd rather they just add general XP gain back into ranking up vendors. Obviously tokens will still factor in leveling up ranks faster, but just having a general amount of XP gain after doing activities in playlists or in the patrol zones would be nice. They'd probably then have to bump up the amount of tokens needed to rank up, but if they then add in the ability to buy vendor gear with tokens, I think it balances it out anyway. As you can then use your tokens to buy gear but not feel like you can't ever rank up the vendor cause you'd also be gaining XP.

As for Legendary Shards, I think they could totally add some of the Season 1 bright engram stuff to Xur's item list every week. It'll at least give the option for future players to have a chance at that stuff, and since it's no longer in rotation I guess it'd seem kind of reasonable if that stuff costed a lot more legendary shards to buy.

Just a quick stat for y'all that hate Double Primaries.

The last raid I did in D1 was Vault of Glass. I had 135 kills with weapons. 104 were primary and 31 were special and heavy. Giving people a second gun for those >75% of kills isn't the worst thing in the world and can hardly be argued is "less variety".

Just sayin'.

I checked GutZ31 's stats for the same raid and he used his primary 88% of the time. Seems like a little variety for the slot we use the most would be nice...

FWIW being able to run both a long range and short range primary is pretty nice, in my opinion. I do like the idea I saw posted somewhere of having 4 weapon slots instead of 3 to allow us to run a shotgun as well as a rocket or whatever, in addition to double primaries.

I do miss the crucible being a 6v6 shotgun fest personally but the glory days of that was D1 Year 1 house of wolves.

So when I logged in today I got the message that Season 1 was ending, and the pool of Eververse cosmetics was going to be reset.

Does that mean there's going to be a whole new set of emotes, ships, Sparrows, etc from Eververse next week?

I prefer the old system, while you didn't get as many kills, cause obviously, they felt more useful and needed.

Overall I find most of the systems a downgrade in terms of the 'fun' scale.

The exotic emotes are being refreshed. My understanding is a lot of other stuff is likely to stick around, but not sure.

I would expect there will eventually be some way to get the missed content similar to how Destiny 1 eververse items would be removed but come back later.

I can't ever find anything I want to buy from Eververse anyhow, so I'm not sweating the removal of items. I just want the Thriller dance back and that's about it.

Every Eververse item besides shaders will be reset, I think. New shaders will be added across the board I think. It also seems like vender equipment will get some form of refresh or additions to the loot pool.

Not sure about exotic ornaments in Eververse.

Anyone notice they did a stealth update to the Eververse store?
This morning, there were no exotic emotes.
I just checked and now both emote slots are exotics (Salty and Spicy Ramen).

All they need to do is revert back to D1 loadouts, lower PVP TTK, vastly improve the reward system so that tokens are supplementary, and make exotics not suck.

D2 rolling specials into heavy and giving you double primaries was quite possibly the laziest fucking way they could've fixed the problem.

It isn't moveable until you've unlocked all the perks (I think that's the collect the seals part of the quest). You can do that one by just doing the castellum over and over if you're not able to find a full group. You can check your vault's exotic collection to see if it's there. The weapon won't be available there until you've completed this phase of the quest.
