It's a spirit of the law v a letter of the law thing too I guess.

Battlefront 2 is a 1.0 game. However what even the fuck that game is, how its progression works, how its going to be monetized going forward is a complete mystery. PUBG is way more straightforward in how it works at the moment despite not being 1.0.

Plus PUBG will probably be 1.0 by the time GOTY comes out and they'll put a stinger in to the podcast saying hey ignore this if its not out.

Phew, done with what I had to do and just caught up with the thread. Man, that's a lot of fuckin' pages to go through for one day. Looks like a hell of a cast, as usual when everyone is in one place. As for PUBG being eligible I'm fine with that, I just don't think it deserves GOTY. At the same time I wonder what Jason will say though because he is willing to defend Nier but if Dead Cells is eligible as well then he's going to go bat for Dead Cells.

The pubg thing is all about making concessions for a single game while ignoring others. It wouldn't be an issue if GotY was done in January. It doesn't really matter since it's their list, but GotY is serious business for serious people.

Still not complete yet, but significantly updated for sure. And progress is now saved from update to update whereas previous updates wiped progress. I think it's worth getting into, but I thought it was worth getting into back then too.

Did y'all listen to the last Beastcast? Holy balls it was a roller coaster of obnoxious stuff. Dan doesn't understand board games and he takes the jalapenos out of poppers. Abby plays Nier on easy mode and then complains that the gameplay is boring when we all really know she's just skeeved out by 2B meanwhile Dan is playing Night in the Woods and complaining about the characters when you know he knew what the game was about before playing it. I know it's for game of the year which is their job, but why even bother playing games in bad faith so that they can "form an opinion" in bad faith? All it does it make people mad, as seen in the comments.

The reason I stopped is because I wanted to get out of the habit of burning out on Early Access games, and then never playing them once they actually hit a release version. I remember at the time there were placeholders and things in the game where obvious stuff was missing.

The Ropecaster is your friend. Also fighting that dude near the road is way easier than out in open desert area.

Only the card game stuff came even close to being obnoxious, but I think they knew it was and stopped short of that. The rest is just opinions on games? No problem with that.

I'm all for PUBG or any early access game making it on the list as long as they apply the same standards to them as they would a full retail release of a game.

I'm not so sure PUBG is an automatic win if it makes it on the list too. There are plenty, and very easy things, to knock it for. All it needs is one or two people to actually want to argue against it.
