question for sports mode.. do you guys just keep repeating the same three race over and over again for each day?

That's what I do when I play. I'm not quite good enough to win races yet so I work on my times and dealing with other drivers cleanly. For some reason I'm more excited about a clean pass for 9th place than I am by being in the top 3.

Ok this should help anyone struggling with the Kyoto race.

My tune for the Nissan GTR GR4 - Kyoto Yamagiwa:

Traction control: 0
Brake balance: 0

Ride height: 60mm front / 109mm rear
Natural frequency: 2.40Hz front / 2.50Hz rear
Anti roll bars: 7 front / 5 rear
Damping ratio (compression): 53 front / 55 rear
Damping ration (rebound): 85 front / 81 rear
Camber angle: 1.8 front / 3.0 rear
Toe angle: Out 0.05 front / In 0.14 rear

Downforce: 250 front / 510 rear

LSD initial torque: 5 front / 5 rear
LSD acceleration: 40 front / 32 rear
LSD braking: 5 front / 5 rear

Max speed (auto set): 137mph
1st: 1.831 / 74
2nd: 1.546 / 88
3rd: 1.345 / 101
4th: 1.187 / 114
5th: 1.062 / 127
6th: 0.965 / 145
Final: 4.107

Those settings were good enough to get me a 1:43,226 qualifying time which always puts me 1st or 2nd on the grid in B/B. That's with a controller with all assists off. I think there's at least another another 0.5s that's there for the taking so a more skilled driver than me (or if you have a wheel) should be able to get a high 1:42s time with it.

Stability I'd say is good with this tune, once you get comfortable with it you should be able to consistently pump out high 1:43s times even in the race.

I'll try and post the video of my best lap tomorrow for you all to see what lines I take etc.

Damn you for getting me excited at the prospect of new dalies!

I don't remember, were you on the discord chat? I can post my GTR tune for Kyoto and see if that helps you out. You should be able to shave at least a couple of seconds off your 1:48 with that tune.

Sorry, forgot to reply to this. Yeah I saw your tune, but I couldn't get the gearing to work. I was using the GTR setup from GTPlanet and that helped a little, but I seem to be missing something because I can't get close to what the rest of y'all are doing. I ended up doing my own tune for the Ferrari 458 and while times aren't better, at least I enjoy driving it more than the GT-R. I got gold on the single lap challenge (1.41 something) but when it comes to qualifying with those gr4 cars I'm not placing at the top of races. I guess I'll have to watch some replays.

For gearing, you need to mirror the order in which the gears were tuned by the tuner. So for mine reset to default, then set the max speed then adjust the final gear (I think that's the order I did it in, I think...!).

If that doesn't work, then it will be reset to default, final gear then max speed.

Whatever you do always always reset to default before having a go at matching gearing.

If you still have trouble then let me know and I will recreate my own tune from a default sheet to remember exactly what order I did things in.

Man, I wish I could upload pictures directly to Abload from the PS4's browser, it was possible on PS3. 8(
Anyway, has anyone already claimed the right to make an official ResetEra livery design?
I'd love to do it, once we can upload custom decals.
I think I've spent more time in the editor, than on track already.
If you want, please check out my content, PSN ID: GTAce

I'm the same with my old Driving Force GT, I got a Cronus Max and it has brought it back to life for this new gen. Works perfectly on GTS, just can't be arsed hooking it up every night.

I've found myself addicted to the N200 race at Blue Moon. It's a race that you'd initially expect to hate because it's a NASCAR-style track with slower cars, but the end result is a race that's literally always competitive.

The Veneno is the real deal guys.

I won it today from golding a track in Circuit experience. This car is an absolute beast when you equip it with super slick racing tires.

I can't wait for them to add more tracks to this game. Forget the cars, there are so many in my garage that I'm yet to try. Just give me more tracks and more conditions.

Any word on if dailies will actually turn into dailies in the future?

I'm actually ok with a 3/4 day rotation like we've had so far. Witnessing the general level of competitiveness for each race go up over the course of the 3 days is great to see.

Having said that I wouldn't complain if they added more to the list or made them actually daily.

Me2. I also got my first win in this race. I have had a lot of fun getting the maximum effect out of the slipstream. It's so satisfying making a slow but steady overtake with the N200 cars

Honestly, for a game with such a massive focus on online, I've done one online race.

I spent the past three days trying to get gold in one of the Driving School missions. It's crazy how addicting getting golds and doing drift trials is for me.

I think it'd be nice to have just a simple season mode for single player. A bit like GTR2 for example if anyone remembers that. I know you can create your own custom races but it just seems a missed opportunity to add something so innocuous to tie the single player content together.
Won't we be able to set up seasons and championships with friends in the future? I seem to recall this being a feature that is not yet available.

This game is just so fun to play with a Thrustmaster T150. Yeah more content is needed, but they have an amazing base built.

if you're playing at 4k on pro, you don't get a choice - does that mean we can't get motion blur, or we get it automatically?

I'm quite liking the motion controls - a game like this really benefits from being able to have that finer grained input for steering. I'd kill for a negcon or jog-con.

If you have a 4kTV I don't think the game gives you a choice between the two modes, so you won't get motion blur. Motion blur is only applied to the framerate mode in 1080p.

How's the drifting/drifting community in this game?

The last GT I played was GT5 and 95% of my time was spent in drift lobbies. The lack of old cars/car customization/tuning turned me away, but I assume that the community was able to make it work somehow.

I loved the beta, but thought the content might be a little thin so I didn't bother buying it. But the gameplay is still intriguing to me.
For those that have been playing this hard from day one and know all the ins and outs, what should be the first thing they include in the first DLC update? Tracks or cars? They'll probably never add back in the parts customization aspect, but if they end up with enough cars and tracks and possibly new modes this could have some pretty decent legs on it to get us through until GT7 on PS5.

There's a BGM track that sometimes plays in the Sport menus that sounds like I'm in a tavern in a western RPG. With the old-time oboe sounding instrument and whatnot. It's so oddly out of place next to all the chill stuff. I'd really love to be able to take certain tracks out of the rotation.

Man, the active player base in US must be really thin. I have had the same opponents all day in Gr.4 race. Three races in a row now with an identical field. Same grid order every time because barely any time to set a new qualy lap in between.

I've been really enjoying the game the last few days, although I haven't raced a bunch online yet. Need to work on my driving skills a bit first. But I gotta say, one thing about this game that really has me in awe was being able to race the Suzuka Track in VR. That was a dream come true moment for me. So much fun, having a chance to really feel like I'm racing there is something else. So awesome. I haven't smiled that much in a racing game since playing the Ferrari F355 challenge arcade game and racing Suzuka on there too. Really wish the old Tokyo track from the previous games were in this one. I want to race that in VR someday too.

Any motion sickness from the VR?

You should practice on the online lobbies too. No risk to SR/DR. I highly recommend making a room yourself, and setting the car category as a bare minimum. Start the race as soon as you have enough people.

Glad to hear they helped.

Has anyone got a tune for the GR4 VW Scirocco? I've noticed that there are a few people with this car starting to pop up who are able to stay competitive with the GTR.

That guy who did the Kyoto GT-R tuning on GTPlanet also had one for the VW in the same post, I believe.
edit, yeah: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/minkihl-setups.363843/

I haven't seen the GT-R dominating wins in the D/B peasant class I'm in, though there's usually a couple in the top 5. A Cayman just won my last Kyoto race, and last night a TT of all things won.

So far none at all for me. I have my vr legs but still get a bit of sickness on some games (since I always like to play games with smooth walking on which can be hard depending on the game) but so far GT Sport has been perfect in vr. Even in the bumpy courses where it really shines even more. Only issue I had was making sure I had the camera set right at first. But it's really good. I just wish I had a wheel to perfect the experience.

I'll be doing more practice online soon. What I've played online so far has been a blast. And I really like I'm slowly improving.

Thanks, that's good to hear. I didn't last long with driveclub vr.

Are you using motion controls? Also highly recommended if you don't have a wheel. Allows fine rapid control over the steering.

Same here but with VR at Nordschleife. It's amazing how much more present I feel and how much more you can perceive the elevation changes and unevenness of the track surface. I go there multiple times per year for VLN races and it's so cool to actually feel like I'm driving on it. I also ran a race in the Peugeot 908 and just stopped the car to check out the cockpit. So cool! I wish we could earn XP, mileage points and credits from the VR mode, then I'd do it more often.

Ugh. Two races in a row on Kyoto, other drivers have intentionally rear-ended me off the track in the same turn, the slow hairpin after the uphill straight. This wasn't a brake check situation, I slow down gradually into that turn. The first one I was in first place and the person who rammed me ended up winning. The last one was this jackass Corvette who rammed me off on the last lap, and when I still caught up to them in the final straight they tried to knock me into the pit lane. I think I'm done with that track.

The most frustrating thing that happened wasn't even due to a driver. This Ferrari in front of me had severe lag, teleporting 20 feet here and there, all over the track. I was behind them on the initial straight, and they weren't teleporting yet but they seemed to be going slow so I passed to the left. Next thing I know the Ferrari teleports into my space and I get a big SR violation. Such bullshit. Why is the game allowing people with such severe lag to join?

What SR are you? Honestly, it's not worth trying to race until you get to SR B and above. Just chill drive away from everyone else and focus on getting your SR sorted. Let the idiots fight amongst themselves.

Ah, my GT chums i've arrived!

I am in B! But I imagine it's because I'm at driver level D. This is what I was saying before, it's hard to rank up driver level when you either get SR penalties for being in the mix (and thus your DR won't go up), or the DR goes down because you drove clean or got pushed off the track and lost placement. I'll just have to wait until I get to SR of A, or a different track where I can win without all the hijinks.
