I have a really good idea what this will be, but this (obviously) isn't the right thread for it -- especially after pages full of posts dedicated to a teaser from a publisher that has localised only one Falcom so far.

Let's discuss something else: What was your favourite door in The 3rd? Which one did you like the least? How did you interpret Moon Door 5? What was your top score in Sun Door 5?

I have a hard time actually pinpointing which is my favorite door, but I'm leaning towards Star Door 3, the Banquet. The Joshua/Kloe relationship was interesting to me in FC, so seeing it addressed head on was great, aside from actually getting to interact with everyone as an epilogue to SC. Right behind (or right beside it I guess) would easily be Star Door 8, just for how it deftly opens up the whole series from then on and the fantastic intensity behind the dialog.

As for least liked, Star Door 10. It just wasn't all that interesting to me, especially since I had a hard time beating the trial with solo Renne (I hadn't really equipped her well). It still had some good foreshadowing tidbits so it's not like I hated it, so least liked is a good way to phrase it lol.

Moon Door 5... that's been bugging me forever. I am not quite sure how I see it yet, it's easy to think it's just a side story/fairy tale. I do feel it was included for a reason beyond adding a cute story, so I will think about it and see if I can put together an argument for it.

As for Sun Door 5, I can't remember my high score but I do remember it being just barely rank 1, so in the low 410-420k range most likely.

There's not a favorite door. Plently of fanservice. Doors with lore and other facts. Doors with character background. Doors with playable content. It's hard to chose from all that. However what sets the 3rd apart is letting sidecharacters have their turn. In particular there's one I find interesting, which is Star Door 12. You see how Richard is forgiven and is able to make a new step in life. Seeing how this slick bastard from the first games was able to win my heart is nothing short of amazing.

My least favorite door is probably Sun Door 2. I made a mental image of strangling the baron with the fishing line. The tune is gonna haunt me in my nightmares.

Moon Door 5 is the advent of Grandmaster Polly wishing this damned fairytale to end.

I suck at providing trivia in such a fast paced window of time, so I'm afraid to look up my score.

In order:
Star Door 15, whatever was the fishing mini-game door at, not sure (I think I'm with Astrael here), can't remember

...Sorry, that's not really helpful is it :(

Hmm, favorite door is 15 for sure, the way it leads into
everything in Zero with revelations about the cult, Rennes parents, reuniting with Estelle/Joshua, etc. is unbelievably good payoff

Least favorite... Idk probably one of the ones I'm forgetting what was even in it. Maybe one with Anelace?
She hasn't shown up again unless she's in Sen 3 which I haven't played yet so her growth in 3rd hasn't really had a chance to pay off yet like many of the other doors have
There aren't really any that I flat out disliked though.

Moon door 5 I'm def on board with
the dragon being Ragnard

In general, my favorite doors were the ones that left me wanting to play the following games, like:

(these are all spoilers only about Trails the 3rd, as I haven't played Ao/Zero or any Cold Steel)

Star Door 4,
about Zin, shows one of my favorite minor characters, Kilika, leaving to Calvard and establishing her own operation there
Star Door 8,
about Olivier, is the perfect motivation to see more of Erebonia and its political struggles
Star Door 14,
about Campanella, gives a wider picture of Ouroboros and reinforces the idea that Campanella is more than just an Enforcer

Bonus points for Star Door 2, since
that's straight up a horror story :D

None of the Moon Doors stayed on my mind for too long, and I honestly think Moon Door 3 was bad; it was too long of a sequence without meaningful rewards or information.

Favorite doors in 3rd:

Sun Door 3: I just really like the idea of a battle gauntlet.

Moon Door 2: Really lovely and creative story with a lot of great moments. And there are subtle and not-so-subtle callbacks to past events and characters in Liberl history. Essentially if you love history and you like classic writing this is your door.

Moon Door 4: I find this door absolutely hilarious. Estelle is unstoppable.

Moon Door 5: Smoke happiness everyday. A mystery that has yet to be solved, despite making multiple appearances in later games.

Star Door 2: I find this door to actually be one of the scarier doors. I think the excellent illustrations in the background really lend to the immersion.

Star Door 4: Calvard teasing is always welcome. In fact, this door essentially gives away (in my opinion) how the protagonists of the Calvard series will operate, for the first time!

Star Door 6: The fact that Falcom could take a bunch of thugs and make a whole story out of them is extremely heartwarming and funny for some reason. I also like how challenging this door is, since you can't rely on a lot of tools you're used to using.

Star Door 8: This door sets up the background behind the Cold Steel series and the Empire, what's not to love?

Star Door 12: This door not only has great writing and great character, but the ramifications of the door appear throughout Crossbell and Cold Steel 3. This door might actually be my favorite short story in the game tied with Moon Door 2.

Star Door 13: It's hard to talk about why I like this door without spoiling it. It's a very intriguing piece of history that expands upon a tidbit mentioned by Cassius in the beginning of FC in a big way and sets up some background behind the Cold Steel series.

Star Door 14: Goes without saying. Our first look behind the curtain...!

Star Door 15: STAR. DOOR. 15. Is it even possible to make a game with content in it like this nowadays without getting hit with a major age rating limit? Well this door is a required viewing and has a big link to Crossbell.

Moon Door 3 is the weakest by far IMO. That dragged on for so long and was never very interesting, and the biggest payoff came in another door. Honorable mention is to whichever Sun Door the fishing minigame was.

Lots of good doors, but I'd say Star Door 8 is my favorite. It's pretty neat how perfectly it relates to Cold Steel.

Devil Halton's Trap
I still think Moon Door 3's one of the stronger ones despite its length. The scenario's typical and repetitive, but there's great development for Jill, strong motifs (like Lechter viewing the world below him ungazing), a bunch of detailed dialogue, and one of the best Door endings next to Star Door 14 and Star Door 2.

And yes, I totally want Mary to reappear with some significance. She's got the most story potential out of any of the orphans.

In retrospect, Moon Door 3 makes a lot more sense after playing CS3 as far as characterization is concerned.

Does anyone have any advice on using Cheat Engine to give myself infinite bonding points on Trails of The Cold Steel? I was told to ask here.

Might be easier to find a save game where someone already completed the game. That should give you enough points to activate that during New Game+. Otherwise, pretty much any tutorial on Cheat Engine should be enough, just find out what the current value is in the game, look for it on CE, then keep changing the value in-game and search for the new value, until you have reduced the number of found memory addresses. It's a simple algorithm, really. But again, might save yourself the trouble and just look for a save game and put it in the right location.

So I'm working on the doors now in Trails in the Sky 3rd. Finished everything but the doors now more or less so I'm doing them...

And I just want to say Sun Door 5 is evil. 7 seconds is not enough time for me to read, find the answer and choose the correct one. >_< This looks like it will be the most annoying door for this reason alone.

All this talk about doors is making me anxious to play the 3rd.

In other news, I've reached Chapter 4 of SC and I ran into some amusing graphical glitches during Chapter 3.
The first one was Campanella not showing during his conversation with Schera and Anelace.
C28FFBC64222CF13A36934EA907407D1C422A950

And the second one was Colonel Cid's sprite becoming distorted when he arrived at the tea party. It was fine when he was running, but the minute he stopped this happened.
13152E70E5C60331D9554D4F57373269570AAE07

The chest messages continue to crack me up. Also, I forgot Walter was such an edgelord. I can't take him seriously when he spouts this kind of nonsense.

Saame, Stu :D After practicing a few times, it got easier.
I was really surprised that I remembered some irrelevant things from FC and SC

I don't think it will ever get easier, if I had more time maybe but I'm thinking it's going to be a memorize all 4 options and choose what is usually correct without reading the question lol. Brain can't process all of it in 7 seconds lol.

Doesn't help that you have 3 chances and more questions in the higher difficulties (read that the highest is 20+ questions >_< )

Wish there was a way to disable the timer lol, would make it easier to read and think.

Still, doing all the sun doors first just to have the mini-games out the way (I did Star Door 5 though because I read that it gives us a reward that gets powered up via Sun Door 3 (which it did) :D )

I must be playing Trails of the Cold Steel wrong because fuck me if it isn't hard. Random field enemies are nearly killing my entire party and literally every battle is a struggle. I'm used to being able to autopilot through most jrpg random battles but I must not be doing something right.

Are you stunning field enemies before initiating battle to get Advantage? If you aren't, I can see why it might be tougher than average.

I want to chime in and say EVERYONE who plays CS for the first time on PC should activate Infinite Bonding points on the first playthough. It adds so much personality to all the Class VII members, I have no idea why the devs decided to lock up the best stuff in the series (Character moments and character growth) behind some arbitrary number system. It's insane. Play with infinite and see all of them. It makes the game MUCH better. IMO.

it's supposed to add replay value but it's the worst shit in every game i've come across, CS2 is even worse with a NG+ scene late game that actually is really important in the grand scope of things but locked behind finding books. And of course said scene is canon for CS3 from the get go.

for the unknown people; you can get enough bonding points by doing an NG+ save (there's saves online) or using cheatengine

I'm trying that but they recover so quickly from the stun it's hard to actually run into them from behind and you can't really sneak up on them.

The main problem is that every enemy does like 1/3 to 1/2 of my health in each hit and there's often like 4 or 5 of them (Also Alisa at least as this point--I'm in Celdic right now--is just fucking useless, she does no damage at all). Bosses aren't as difficult, actually, just because they only attack once and Elliot's Resounding Beat's auto-heal and defense buff is a godsend -__-

Not very much, it's so expensive to open the slots and get the materials for the quartz. I just didn't expect the game to get this tough this quickly.

Make sure the enemy's back is turned first before hitting them and you should get a stun with stars flying around their heads (I'm not talking about general hitstun). This stun lasts for a good 3-4 seconds and you can easily walk into the enemy afterwards for Triple Advantage. Makes regular fights a big cakewalk. As long as their back is turned you should be able to sprint right up to them without them noticing.

By the way I recommend placing Alisa on Arts duty and only using her healing Crafts for support. She may not be THE strongest caster but she's strong enough to really hurt.

Bosses aren't as difficult, actually, just because they only attack once and Elliot's Resounding Beat's auto-heal and defense buff is a godsend -__-
The way I stunned enemies was I made sure they spotted me first and I let them chase me. After a bit, they'll get bored and turn around, and that's when I make a run for it to slash them from behind with Rean. By that point you're more than close enough to run into them before they recover. It's probably not the most efficient way, but it's the technique I used for pretty much the entirety of CS.

To get enemies knocked out, hit them in the back with your weapon. Then you can run into them and get a double/triple advantage. Running into their back only gets you a single advantage if they're not knocked out.

Rean's field attack can also stunlock enemies really easily. Lazy upload:

You can always just use Laura whenever she's available and keep hitting enemies until they're stunned. Or another character you get later in the game, but their attack animation sucks.

Alisa is CS1 is basically my CP battery and Earth Wall caster. Worked easily enough on Hard mode.

I still need to do some doors because I left a few undone so I had more incentive to replay 3rd. But I doubt my favorite will change (and it's not like I left that many doors undone) since Moon Door 4 was just so goshdarn adorable.

I loved how Estelle's solution to Joshua's angstiness was just "he needs to see a cool bug. no, a cooler bug. no, THE COOLEST BUG!" like god bless Estelle. We all need an Estelle in our lives.

Least favorite was Sun Door 1. I really don't like Josette.

I really, really wanted to like her. I love noble-turned-bandit characters, and I love badass women. But Josette is just incredibly immature, and her occasional good lines/scenes are overshadowed by her bad ones. And this door was one of her worst appearances. I can appreciate her being excited for a letter from Joshua, and I can sympathize with being upset that it seems her brother lost said letter. However I cannot condone how she so quickly flies off the handle at her brother, and how harsh she is on him. Her apology isn't that good, either.

Pretty much the only good part of that door was explaining how Gilbert ended up in Grancel. The Capuas backstory wasn't really any new information. Just kind of expanded on what we already knew.

I'd put money down on Mary being a playable character in the inevitable return to Liberl game/s, and that dragon is going to be her S-Craft. Just watch. The year will be 2032, and I'll be RIGHT!

No idea what my top score in Sun Door 5 is, though. Probably not that high since I don't have good reflexes.

The fact that this game reminds me of my failure to do all the side quests with a big fat X every time I check my notebook makes me cry sometimes. Especially when it's not certain what sidequests will force the story to advance :/

Oh well. I still like it a lot.

IMO.
Yeah, it's my least favorite part of modern Falcom games, I loathe it. At least it's a non-issue on PC.
Seriously there's much needed character development in those bonding scenes.

So I just finished Sun Door 5 and man, big pool of questions.

My favourite is probably the Maniac difficulty in terms of questions.

As annoying as the short 7 seconds to answer is, I enjoyed it. :D

Finally found this OT lol. Was searching all the wrong names apparently.

Just started Trails of Cold Steel on Steam today! Just finished the prologue and watching the intro now. Been wanting to check out the Trails series but wasnt the biggest fan of the look of the Sky games. The Cold Steel series seemed much more up my ally, but it wasnt until I saw what happens towards the end of the first game that sold me on it lol.
Im a huge sucker for Gundam stuff in my JRPGS!
Plus the setting really helped. It seems like Persona x Final Fantasy VIII x Valkyria Chronicles which is literally my dream JRPG lol. Really wish these were available on PS4 as I dont like playing on my pc for long periods of time, but im sure they will be later on.

So I might be stopping by every now and then to ask questions and talk about the game. Was going to make an LTTP if I couldnt find this OT.

First questions are: Is there a way to have the dialogue auto play instead of having to hit A after every speech bubble?

Is there any way to activate this if you already started playing? I mean I dont mind starting over since im still in the very beginning. Are there any other settings I should turn on for my first playthrough like that?

Edit: Wait, how do you active infinite Bonding Points lol? I thought it was an option in the Config/Boot menu, but now that im looking at it I dont see it on there.
