Yeah, there's no amazing limited format possible that can justify 45-90 dollars for one try at it. This set is insane and I hope all the people with more dollars than sense enjoy it.

I'm going to do a draft for the novelty of it. It's a bit of a gamble, but you also need to weigh the fun of doing it and that's certainly worth something. Of course, I totally respect the people that wouldn't want to do it as it's a lot of money for something potentially not great.

Given how this set is shaping up it would have made sense from a value perspective for sure. I agree. But I'd wager the "draft power" excuse is the reason he's rare.
I feel like draft power should be less a concern in this sort of set, especially when the difference in power level between an Uncommon and a Rare for Limited is typically small.

They've already confirmed that they didn't give limited a ton of thought with this. Of the cards spoiled so far, it's pretty clear this is not balanced for limited (white doesn't even have a Mythic). Not saying they had no consideration for it, but I'd imagine the main reason it's rare is that they wanted a relatively junk rare that would be fun in limited.

Man, I kinda wish this was down to common for Pauper stuff, but Lab Maniac is back and downshifted

The original Modern Masters is currently going for around $500 a box (about $21 a pack), meanwhile this set has even more value in the box than the original Modern Masters. This is not a set that is going to stay at or below MSRP for very long once it goes out of print.

I had zero interest in buying boosters or doing drafts of Iconic Masters or Masters 25, but I am going face first into this set. I understand if people are on a budget and just can't afford a $45-$50 draft, but there's plenty of sense in jumping into this set if you can afford it.

Magic is always a bad investment, but that includes buying singles. If we're going to play, this set seems like an alright set to buy into.

If you are so gung-ho on drafting the set because it looks cool but can't justify the price, just draft it once or twice on MTGO. Phantom drafts will be $10, and normal drafts will be $24ish

Maybe when Masters sets come back they'll be on Arena. That'd be cool. Though in that case they certainly can't price them all crazy since all cards kind of have the same "value" in Arena within a rarity band.

Ugh. I hate that excuse so much for this sort of thing. It's only viable for like bombs that are easy to cast. This sucker is 9 mana and doesn't win the game on the spot. It's heinous.

It's a reanimation target (discard-heavy set plus Resurrection at common). I think it's a good rare for limited but I also don't understand the logic that every rare in the set should be worth money. Think it's fine that the scratch-off ticket doesn't always pay off.

Foil in pauper seems kinda risky given the outsize advantage in card quality the blue tempo decks are already working with.

I don't think they need to be worth money, but this isn't an exciting rare or even an overly powerful one. At face, even as a reanimation target, it is not great, and you have to untap with it at least once to really get even decent value for your efforts.

I'm fine with some rares being value whiffs, but they should still be cool and exciting for Limited.

So thus far, some archetypes for Limited seem to be:

- R/G Madness
- G/U Self-Mill
- W/B Reanimator
- G/W Auras

Looks like a good set in terms of being responsive to the complaints about recent Masters sets.

Like I know corporate mouthpieces love to say "We've been listening to your complaints" as a preface to anything out of their mouth, but this time it's actually been earned.
