Second time my Nexus 6P shuts down when battery had around 30% charge. It goes into power saving mode and shuts downs immediately after. I'm screwed, aren't I?

it'll only get worse. mine would start to shut down at 70% and then if it's slightly cold or being used it'll die at 90 after a cold boot. if left for more than a few hours turned completely off it simply won't turn on unless plugged in

Yaaaay :(

Happened to me today, this is the 2nd 6p that's had battery problems for me. Going to call Google tomorrow and see if I can blag a pixel. Thank God for EU 2 year warranties.

Wait, I bought mine 1 and a half year ago. Is there a chance Google could replace it with a Pixel?

Yeah mine does this -- it's repeatable in my case, with say bluetooth being off. The second it gets below say 35% if I connect it to a bluetooth device it will die until I plug it in to charge it. At which point it starts charging from whatever % it was at when it went poof. :\

Nexus 6P is known to commit suicide. It is a known and extremely common issue. Exchange them. Call Google.

Will do. It's my third 6P, and this is the first time I run into a manufacturing problem. I guess the first two didn't last long enough.

Contacted Google and they offered me a refund because they don't have replacement units for the 6P. I'm getting the refund and buying a OP5T.

If only the Pixel 2 had a headphone jack. :(

Can't be worse than The Verge?
I've actually been more than a little surprised about Verge android reporting lately. It seems to me like they're trying to put a bit more effort into their reviews of devices rather than slamming them outright for not being Apple enough. Not saying they're perfect of course, but a lot better than recent years.

If only the Pixel 2 had a headphone jack. :(
It does! It's just... detachable. ;)

It's a fantastic deal. Use the phone for free for a year or whatever, full refund to get a new phone. Can't beat that.

Getting your money back is an even better deal. I'm assuming you paid retail/full price. So what, around $650?

So who ended up picking up an essential phone this weekend?
Got my white model in the mail on Tuesday, paid it off that night, now playing the waiting game for it to be unlocked so I can use it on Verizon.

I will say its a really nice phone, hardware wise — barely bigger than my non-XL pixel 1 but with a noticeably bigger and sharper screen (though also noticeably heavier).

I am a little worried about the long-term health of the company with Rubin on sabbatical but guess if worse comes to worst and the company shuts down and stops OS updates then I guess I could just install LineageOS or something

My Xperia M4 keeps restarting randomly even after a factory reset, and sometimes the WIFI doesn't work or doesn't recognize the SIM card and i have to restart the phone to be able to use the WIFI or the SIM card again.

I don't know what to do :(

Yeah, the Verge has definitely improved on various kinds of tech coverage, including Android phones.

Did LG ever fix their bootloop issues? That's really the main reason I stopped buying them. The G4 was very good to me until it just went into bootloop out of nowhere.

I never had that issue but my G3 had another issue. For some reason the battery would drain super fast even when I had the phone in airplane mode. This didn't happen all the time but maybe once every week or two I'd check my phone during break time while at work and would find the battery at less than 20% after just being there for 4 hours. I literally had to shut it off and turn it on only when I really needed to use it because there was no stopping this when it would happen randomly .

I got the Moto Z2 Force for $375 last week but was actually planning on trading it for a G7 whenever that comes out. But I'm pretty happy with it and will probably skip out of the G7 even though it seems like they have everything together now.

I've tried everything. Is there a video I can look at? I'm pretty sure there is some setting or app that is blocking it. Can't be human error on something so simple.

If I'm not using Allo, as a tech enthusiast and heavy Google user, who is? Does anyone in this thread use it?

I give up on the icon game. You invest time changing icons the way you want then a slew of your apps get updates and revert back to their old icons. I'm done, stock icons it is.
