Meh, people pay obscene amounts of cash for anything you can collect that has artificial scarcity applied to the market, from diamonds to trading cards. It's all in the game. At least with clothing you can wear it and have some fun.

I love following the sneakers market and the community can get downright hilarious. I started paying more for my sneakers lately, but I personally don't play with people who buy just to resell. Fuck that. If I can't get some pair through normal means I take the L and go on my merry way. At the end of the day it just means I saved some money.

Some expensive shoes are ugly as sin, can't deny. The yellow Yeezy Boost 350 V2 posted earlier just looks like a joke. Using the Air Max 97 in the OP as an example of that makes no sense though, lol.

I never quite get design behind high end sneakers. It's like lazy modern art that must makes things as garish and overdone just because.

Hypebeast ass shoe trends are god awful. All these people trying to get Off-white and Yeezy shoes as if they are somehow aesthetically pleasing.
Same type of dudes who still think wearing Bape is cool. Shit is just like a more expensive Obey. Never understood the love for the Air Max 97 either.

Sounds like you just don't have a good eye for streetwear fashion because you've literally just shat on damn near everything that's currently hot lmao.

Is everybody else wrong or do you just don't get it?

Ye stopped making good music to make ugly shoes.

For those that don't know, it was Raf Simons that brought the "Payless" retro's style back, balenciaga continued the trend, and everyone doing it.

I just don't see the problem here. People like the rush of finding the shoes and collecting them. If this didn't work we wouldn't have an entire industry around it.

A collectors type of industry has always existed in some capacity be it toys or comics or shoes now.

It was a joke.

People can buy whatever the hell they want if they have that much money.

Nah breh, it's fine to hop on trends that are popular at the time. Doesn't make them great. Which is why no one is rocking anything people were wearing in early to mid 2000s.

The Balenciaga's are a joke and I have no idea how anyone can buy them.

Those nasty bulky fila's are popular as well.

Air max 97's are dope though.

The 97s are one of the most iconic, nearly perfect sneaker designs. Got a good laugh seeing them disparaged from post one.

Triple S will be talked about for decades, and anyone who thinks they're just expensive Sketchers has clearly never handled a pair in person. Design and construction that's just off the charts.

Ugly, expensive shoes is the $1700 Margiela trash sneaker with duct tape and hot glue:

Naw naw. Concord J's are sexy. With some joggers a tee and a breaker its a wrap son. Fit on point ladies be like hmmm when I walk through.

Ah good, someone posted these garbage Jordans so I don't have to.
Those are pretty bad but the Jordan 12s are objectively the worst, specifically in this colorway:
WAXwGii.jpg

They were trash when they came out and they're trash now that they're back.
People who like these have awful taste.

Out of the entire Jordan line, only the 1s through the 6s are any good while the 2s and 6s are merely okay and the 1s are good but inferior to AF1s.

Everything post-6 is hideous and makes you look like you're trying too hard to look rich.

I get you but we are still rocking converses, vans, air force 1s, timbs, skinny jeans, baggy hoodies

some things stay in fashion and become staple pieces. i'm willing to bet yeezys aren't going anywhere.

In a thread of awful takes this takes the cake. I have quite a few beefs with certain models but this is absurdly goofy

I don't get the love for the Off-Whites. Aesthetically the shoes look messy and over branded.

Retro Jordans look cool but I own an AJ 1 and 6 (just general release pairs) and they don't feel good to wear. I tend to only wear them when it's raining out and I don't want my ultra boosts to get wet.

I wouldn't mind a pair of Yeezy 350s since I hear they're supposed to be super-comfy. But only if I can try them out in a store and compare them to my uncaged ultra boosts. They have to be noticeably more comfortable to justify the extra cost, otherwise I can live without them.

Yeesh you mean. But I feel ya. Retro 3's are by far my favorite. Liked the 16's without the gaiter.

Hey man, I can't help people looking as basic as possible by clamoring for the same ugly shoe
This makes no sense whatsoever.

How is 1-6 not basic? Everyone eats up the same 1s and 3s just as the Concords, 11 breds and Space Jams gets all the hype.

Try the 15s. Far from basic, everyone is not clamouring for it, they were ahead of their time when they dropped.

Don't care how much hate they get.

Air Max 97s are alright, but the colorway in the OP is a particularly shitty one. I highly prefer Air Max 87s and 90s.

For Jordans top tier is 1 and 3, then 4, 5, and 6 just below that, and finally 2, 7, 8, 10, 12. I like the design of 11s but I'm not a fan of patent leather, so those are a no go for me. I kinda like the 33s at least in the all black colorway.

Off-whites are trash. Doesn't stop me from trying to get them to flip to people with more money than taste. Also doesn't stop Nike from handing me an L every time.

Rich people run out of things to spend money on I guess.

Either that or dedicated collectors saving, trading, swapping, all kinds of wheeling and dealing to stay in the hobby.

Its probably both.

i mean, the sneaker game is kinda weird. there are a ton of really goofy AF looking designs, but i guess i cant say anything because my fiancee gives me shit over my love of my Diet Butcher Slim Skin moonboots (DBSS makes me favorite sneaks, full stop) so im cool with looking goofy shit.

Did somebody post the Kobe 2s yet?

I was kind of a sneakerhead back in the day and I remember being hype as fuck for these when they had this preview website and everything.

EDIT: 2 posts up, whoops

People in this forum spend $300+ on video game character statues. Everyone wastes money on stupid stuff. No need to judge.

Personally I'm a bit boring with sneakers - Margiela GATs, New Balance 995, Common Projects.

hating on concords, you may as well out yourselves as trump supporters at this point

Jordans? I stop at 13. The rest of them look too goofy. The best are 1, 3, 4, 5, 11, 13.
