Has anyone figured out a way to have Ray Ban's work with the iPhone X? I've tried a regular pair of Ray Ban Sunglasses, and my Purple Lense pair and neither will work with Face ID. Other polarized sunglasses work fine though. It's like Ray Ban's are some super sunglasses out to spite the iPhone X.

Thinking I'm getting this tomorrow. I like the silver a lot but the notch seems to blend more with the black.

Nah you dont see the bezel either way. But definitely get what speaks to you.

I think the iPhoneX probably has the most disappointing (and kinda ugly) color selection since the plastic bastard days of the 3G.

Maybe in a fucked up way the iPhoneX is the 3G/3GS to the iPhone 6/7/8's solid design.

Face ID uses infrared beams to map your face, so it really depends on whether the sunglasses block too much infrared light. Not much you can do about that.

I may be missing something, where you linked I don't see any mention of sunglasses on that page, just the issues with dust and case selection I think. I probably missed it though, it's late! Lol.

Oh it should have pointed you at his post above. See below:

You've gotta turn "require attention" off in the FaceID settings page!

Turn that setting off and try again. It won't be looking for your eyes to be looking at the screen. May work.

I'm largely in the same boat. I assumed this was an intentional choice by Apple to make Music a more attractive/convenient option.

I don't think it is, because it fucks with everything, not just other music streaming apps

If it was loading in a specific song or something I still wouldn't agree but I would understand more, but it's just totally losing what's actually playing and replacing it with nothing

I have two pairs of polarized Ray-Bans, one works and one does not. No visible indicator as to why that may be.

So happy I bought the cracked X. This thing is amazing! Wife said she couldn't even notice the cracks unless in the right lighting.

Just curious but when you launch Spotify again is it reloading the app? Just wondering if it is related to the issues others are having with the X reloading apps (frequently) that sit in the background.

Just tried and it works fine in both landscape and portrait.
really? on this screen for instance trying to swipe up to go home only swipes up the directions drawer/panel thing. I have to tap exit and then I can swipe up to go home

You know, the home bar seems to have some "extra protection" or something.
Notice how the bar is grayed out. When I swipe up on it, it turns solid and I feel a little feedback. Then when I swipe it goes home like normal. Same for landscape.

I'm not sure if that's intended, or if the up motion for lifting the list of directions from the bottom interferes.
Either way, it takes two motions if the bar is grayed out like that which occurs a after a couple seconds.

Thank you so much for this! It worked! Now I don't have to lift my Ray-Ban's up each time to unlock my phone.

Awesome!

I think it really might be "protection" and require two swipes. One to enable the little home bar, and another to go home.
If you're driving and want to swipe up to pull the list of upcoming directions, you can easily swipe home accidentally. Especially in landscape when that area is much thinner.

Is that allowed? Must be.

It works the first time every time as long as you truly swipe from the bottom and not starting on the bar

either way, those UI elements are way too close to the home indicator and Google needs to fix it

Agreed.

I've been trying multiple times now.
If the bar is grayed out (leave alone for a couple seconds) you can't. No matter how perfect I swipe. Once it's solid black I can.

Ooh I see. Yes it is like when swiping during a video aka it's a crap choice by google who needs to not throw a swipe menu at the bottom of a gesture based screen bottom

iOS 11.2 beta 6 is out and it is fairly large and removes the feedback app so the public release is probably coming relatively soon.

I think this is correct. In games that have been updated for the X, I have to swipe once (doesn't matter how far from the bottom I got. The first swipe makes the bar turn white, then the second swipe closes the game.

I see, I haven't played many games yet on the X but now I see this is can be set to be standard behavior. (happens with some full screen videos as well)

I received my space grey iPhone X and I love it. Everytime I leave iOS I forget how much slicker the general os is with apple. Anyone got any tips for me? I last had the iPhone 6S+ also Face ID has worked a treat for me so far.

I'll test it with Overcast next time it happens. But in my experience even reloading the app doesn't help, I have to restart the phone

Steve Troughton-Smith pointed out that merging the Support, Tips, and Feedback apps into one thing (with third-party extensibility so downloaded apps can also put links to their support libraries into the app) would be really smart. I'd love to see that in iOS 12.

Swipe left on the Home Indicator (strip at the bottom) to go to the last used app. Or if it's only been a few seconds, swipe right to go back, giving you a Command-Tab kind of effect. This is a gamechanger when you're going back and forth between two apps.

Also yeah, I gave my mom my iPhone 7 recently. She had some new Samsung phone and man Android ran like shit on it. Low framerate animations (or even none) everywhere. The notifications screen looked like an open source project. After introducing her to iOS with an iPad she was really excited to use it on a phone. Android people always talk about specs and configurability, but most people just want a pleasant, stable experience.

Yeah it's the slickness and premium feel of it that I love. It feels like it costs even though that reads like I'm guilible as hell. Oh and holy hell youre not wrong about that alt tab feature. Amazing!

As if you'll ever see those speeds for more than a few minutes a day or even a month for some.

Doesn't matter to me. They're the same price and it wasn't any hassle to switch. Just glad I got the superior model, however little difference it may be.
