Linkura, it's alright! Honestly, my first thought was that you were a guy complaining about the lack of girls in cute feminine outfits so I guess we're even?

Anyways, I think my thoughts have been clarified by everyone else so I won't touch too much on it other than comfy looking pants for character designs are the best! and make it much easier for me to ignore everything else because I got what I wanted, nothing can take that away from me dammit :P I like keeping expectations low haha.

I will admit to liking the high fashion-y evening gown-y thing though. Yeah, yeah it makes no sense in a fight and the front needs some work (easiest would be probably just to extend the sheer all the way down to the floor) but the mermaid train and overall color scheme would look great on like, a celeb on the red carpet I think.

A customer at work this morning made a comment about how I looked 16 or 17 (it made sense in context), and I was like, "actually, I'm turning 27 tomorrow" and there was much shock. I think this might've been the first time I've ever been kind of glad to hear that though? I've got some anxiety about being at the point where people start saying ~she's almost 30~. And not because I'm worried about being 30 (it seems pretty awesome tbh) but because I feel like I'm waaaaay behind where I wanted to be by this age... Oh well. I'm not the only one lol. All my friends are all over the place too.

Ugh same but I'm at work. Hope you feel better soon.

Urgh that sucks. Thanks, hope work goes well for you.

I get this too, but it's to be expected with how short I am (and the "black don't crack" effect). My mom still has to show her ID at times and she's 45 lol.

I'm short too, and I think that's about 80% of it because I don't look 16 lol. My mom is turning 62 in a week, and she still looks waaaay younger than that. Hopefully I got the good genes!

Also my period decided to come back, and I think you guys might've cursed me.

Don't feel bad if you're comparing yourself to others. I know it's tempting to compare yourself to your peer group, but everyone matures and figures things out at different rates, plus people have different kinds of help.

Feel bad if you're not where you wanted to be and you're not taking any steps to go where you want to be.

I'm not really a free spirit, so I don't do the whole "oh be yourself and do what you love" kinda thing. There is nothing wrong with self discipline, grit, and hard work. There is nothing wrong with wanting more than what you have and working towards it. There's also nothing wrong with being satisfied with what you have.

For example, I have/had a list in my head of what I want to do and how I can get them. Some were more vague-- getting married, and some were simple-- getting a useful graduate degree. Some just took time--saving enough money to buy a house. But all of them required planning, foresight, and honestly, a lot of work. You have to be impulsive enough to make the decision to actually go for something when you decide on it, you have to have planned it out well enough that the path is feasible, and you have to be disciplined enough that once you start it you finish it.

Yeah, I'm going to be 30 this weekend, and I don't think anyone who doesn't know my age thinks I'm much above 18. I'm also short. I have honestly not really aged since high school. :/ Being a sober hermit is good for something, I guess!

Thank you <3 I'm definitely working toward some goals. It's just taking me longer than I wanted. You're speaking a lot of sense and the rational part of my mind knows it's true, so I just have to get the emotional part in line. When I take a step back I have a lot of good in my life, so I do my best to focus on that.

Oh hey, we have (almost?) the same birthday then! Happy early birthday! I just blame it on TV. If you get all those 35 year olds playing teenagers, everyone'll get confused. (I'll still look younger when I'm 35, but...)

Another Lucifer vote here! I was so excited when they announced it (I love the graphic novel) and even though it isn't really similar the show is very very good.

And yeah, definitely Stranger things if you haven't watched that yet.

What I love about Lucifer is that even though it's ostensibly a show about the bro-iest of bros, most of the main cast is strong women. Detective Decker, Dr. Martin, Agent Lopez, Charlotte and Mazikeen are all great characters.

And the bro-iest bro is, quite frankly, really hilarious. And yeah Maze is the best <3

I read vol. 1 of the graphic novel but I couldn't get into it, frankly. It's just... so far up its own arse... xD

Is there no Lucifer OT? In which case I'll just start posting about the episodes in here :D

I can make an OT for it. Or help make one.

I wouldn't have guessed the show was based on a graphic novel. I'm sure it's in the title card somewhere but I don't really pay attention haha.

Cheers! It might just be us and my boyfriend posting in it, but oh well. :D

And yeah it's very, very loosely inspired by the graphic novel. All it shares with it, really, is the general premise of Lucifer leaving Hell and setting up shop in LA, and some character names. Like Mazikeen and Amenadiel are in the comic and are indeed (respectively) demons and angels, but they are completely different in every other way (Amenadiel is more of an antagonist from what I saw, I don't know if that changes in later volumes, and he is really unlikable haha). The tone of the comic is mostly humourless, with lots of pompousness and pretentious dialogue, a lot of larger-than-life mythology stuff (which makes it hard for me to relate or get engaged with it sometimes), basically imagine the most pompous Neil Gaiman story/comic and make it even more up its own arse. xD I still might get vol. 2 as a gift or something because the end of vol. 1 started to get interesting, but I find the show much more entertaining.

Full disclaimer: while I think Neil Gaiman seems like a legit good dude, I am really, really not a fan of his work... >.>

Serious question - what do y'all think of height and men? Preferences?

Pet Sure, why not? It's a physical trait that's barely noticeable to me. I'm more likely to pay attention to a potential partner's fashion than their height.

I'd feel more comfortable dating a woman much taller than a guy much taller than me (5'7"). A guy in the Daniel Radcliffe (5'5") to Dane DeHaan (5'8") range is ideal for me.

My boyfriend is pretty tall, but if I were single and looking, I am pretty sure I wouldn't care. In fact I like to joke that my boyfriend is too tall (he's not, it's jokes) and I have to stand on my toes kiss him and how annoying that is and so on, or that I wish I were taller like he is so I could see better at concerts. xD
But yeah, I come from a family of short people, my dad and brothers are all short, so I don't have any bias against short dudes at all.

Can't say about men, but one of my more recent girlfriends was something like 5'2 and I'm about 5'11 so there was a lot of bending down to kiss her and such lol. It didn't really bother me, though. I wouldn't say height is something that I consider when thinking about a potential partner.

I recommend Better Call Saul for tv shows.

For height I typically like someone close to my height, although if I dated a guy maybe I would want him to be a few inches taller in case I was wearing heels. That way he wouldn't feel emasculated or anything.

re: height - my husband is maybe, MAYBE a quarter inch taller than I am (he swears he is, but it's a longrunning joke between us) and I'm 5'6", so he's shortish for a guy. I don't care. I find it convenient.

I'd like for the girls I date to be taller than me but it's kinda impossible with me at 5'8 :( It's not too important though, I think my last girlfriend was around 5'1, haha

Apparently this is a popular weekend for birthdays! It's my 32nd too (Sunday). Happy birthday fellow Sagittarians.

I don't really care, although at 5'3" most men are a fair bit taller than me anyway. My exes and... assorted near misses range from 5'6" to 6'3" and it's never impacted my opinion, just my neck.

The Good Place is a great new show.
I'm actually missing the show far more than I thought I would. The core cast is likeable and while I don't think the show is uproariously funny, it's good for some chuckles and I really enjoy the more heartfelt moments. And Eleanor is right, Tahani is absurdly hot.

I don't care very much — definitely wouldn't rule anyone out based on height. I'm 5'2", so most guys are taller than me. I guess my super ideal range is like 5'7" - 5'11"? Any taller than that, and it's a little annoying.

I like women who are taller than me. Much taller than me. Gimme amazons!

Miraculous: Ladybug and Cat Noir it's an eye opening show that is unique and offers a new take on the genre.

I couldnt care less about looks. I mean who gives a duck? In the end it's important to me I can talk to my SO and he shares the same views as me, maybe hobbies and interests.

Anyone who goes off into the dating pool stating I am looking for (blond, 1,80m, ...), I cant take you seriously. Reality is, when you meet, you fall in love, that's how it is. To disqualify said person because s/he doesnt meet the height (weight, hair color) is ridiculous.

Height, weight, looks... gender. Why'd I limit the out come of a potential relationship to things said person cant influence? In the end the important thing is, that the personalities fit because you supposely spend a lot of time with said person over the next years.

Linkura, honestly, I'm very disappointed in a lot of the designs in XBC2 for the women. Looking at the Japanese twitter account and seeing all of the female blades, I feel as if there's a lot of "waifu" pandering with the designs. I brought this up in a previous thread and the responses I got were basically "this is just Japanese culture, so that makes it okay." -.-

People who say that are such liars. IME Japanese women find this waifu crap just as off-putting and creepy as western women and it's not considered acceptable by wider society there either.

I'm really short (5'3") so the chances are pretty high that any gal I date is gonna be either around that height or taller. Doesn't bother me.
