I will say that the Framework didn't come back in a way I was hoping for though it is interesting. I just think there was more potential to explore there with the aftermath of Hydra being taken down.

But who the hell knows how this will go?

NEAT NEAT NEAT. That was an amazing season premier. It sets the tone perfectly and the effects where on point. The twist was kinda easy to guess, but it was still effective. The tone was fantastic tho. Here's some stray thoughts and interesting bits of Season 5 Episode 1: "Orientation", in no particular order:
  • No sentences finished here.
  • "It's the one thing we haven't done yet"
  • "I'm not comfortable about the pace with which we deal with new trials and tribulations."
  • Mack is too good.
  • And may telefrags a pipe. Great.
  • Dat title card, tho.
  • Everyone huddles together~
  • Of course Coulson's missing his special robot hand.
  • "Right?"
  • Everyone just being mad at the possibility of the Framework.
  • Papá pitufo
  • Antigrav device? Neat
  • NOBODY CAN EXPLAIN ANYTHING JUST TALK GOD DARN IT
  • The Kree look way better than they did the last time we saw them in AoS
  • "Are you high on something? Can I have some?"
  • That twist is fuuuun. Though obvious.
  • Framework BTLs!
  • Sharknados tho
  • "Get them to blend in, but don't tell them how!"
  • Quake destroyed the world? Interesting to see how that plays out.
  • Wait, how did Framework pusher even get footage of Quake, or newspapers? What?
  • And Simmons is deaf now yay. Also what was that ship at the end? It ain't Skrull or Xandarian or Nova or Terran, and I don't recall Kree ships looking like that, even the ones in AoS.

This was delightful and I can't believe we get the Kree on TV. If they can maintain this quality we're looking at another Season 4 and I hope that means improved word of mouth, a larger audience and a sixth season.

Also on the Thanos front, it was what I was thinking at first but if so, it's a tricky move to pull off because they can't solve Thanos on TV before the movies. We can also be sure that they somehow save the planet or arrive back in normal time/place with foreknowledge of the cataclysm to prevent it. We're already dealing with the "this is only all a possible future that the show will almost certainly wipe out" trope.

That said, this does let them build up the Kree some more; I dunno if this makes me more or less likely to believe we'll see the Kree-Skrull war in the movies. They got the go ahead to use the Kree knowing that Captain Marvel is also going to use them in a significant way so I'm curious to see how all that plays out.

So glad this show is back! Awesome premier.

This is madness!

The writers have practically come up with a whole new show

During the part where May was navigating the ship through the asteroids I actually thought back to the first few episodes from season 1 and how amazing it is that the show has come so far since then. Never would have thought we'd end up here. It really is a whole new show.

Watched these episodes twice already. Enjoyed it, but I do miss Fitz and I'm not sure I enjoy the space vibe all that much. However, between the twists and turns and the characters, I'll continue to love the show.

Mack was fantastic in that scene where Vergil dies. The lines and delivery was fantastic.

Deke's quickly grown on me and I'm intrigued by the two villains.

A solid 8/10 for me. Also still holding out hope for Ward to somehow return.

Yeah definitely thought Thanos at the end of the first episode, but with the Daisy twist I think they're gonna figure out by the end of this story pod she didn't do it and it was some other mysterious force (Thanos).

Prediction: I also think Fitz will make a return by also jumping into the future, and he's how they'll get back, but not before doing something crazy that has a low probability of working but will still work at the expense of either Tess's and/or Deke's life.

Just finished watching the 2 hour premiere and holy shit! If this is the beginning of the end then what a way to start. So much to process and so many questions.

So the flash forward bit at the very end of S4 - with Coulson looking out the window into space after getting up in the morning - seems to take place not long after what we just saw, as presumably the gang is going to be put to work as laborers for a while.

Main questions:

Who exactly were the people that kidnapped our team? Why did we get such a long montage of the daily routine of their leader? Are they working with knowledge of the future and are actively trying to change it?

So how do you think they will get back? The last monolith had a pattern of openings they were able to figure out how to track. If Fitz was able to calculate return portals the same way he did before, wouldn't he have left it on the postcard by now?

How did she destroy the planet if she wasn't there?
Checkmate Offbrand Star lord
The assertion seems to be that Daisy will eventually succeed in returning to the past, but something she does then causes the destruction of the planet.

Since I live outside the US I was looking for streaming services that offer the episodes right after they aired in the US. Amazon Video earlier today had the season preorder for €53 which I thought was ridiculous and way more expensive than other services (that usually offer full seasons around €30). Now I checked and it's...€8.50? Clearly there's some sort of pricing error. But as of now I pre-ordered the entire season for only 8.50. Something about it seems too good to be true, I wonder if Amazon can just revoke it or something...
Anyway, about to delve into the season premiere now :D

Isn't this the final season?

If this season's shattered Earth IS the result of Thanos, it's either going to be a downer of a season ender or one hell of a series cliffhanger since Avengers 4 isn't till next year.

Interested to see how this plays out, and I hope the movie tie in is more Winter Soldier than the Age of Ultron.

Wonder what's the point of the Kree's Harem being deaf to anyone but him

Loyalty

Zero. They didn't blow up the Earth and have the team in space with aliens to go "Psych ! It was just a dream" on what may very well be their last season.

I don't even know about that anymore. It should have been canceled after last season, and that's what ABC was going to do until Disney ordered them to keep it going. Who knows if they'll do that again for a season six.

It won't be because the way they talked about the space station being built 90 years(?) ago tells me the destruction took place decades after 2017. So this is definitely not Thanos related. The way they talked about the show being thematically related to the mcu probably meant the theme of facing immenint doom and the possibility of death for humanity and earth and how the characters will act to prevent it from happening.

Great episode!! I like the setting, I am usually not a fan of time travel but I'm liking it here so far.
Loved Mack in this episode. Don't believe Daisy was the one that destroyed Earth, I would like to believe Thanos did but I doubt that level of crossover.

Man, that was a good season premiere.
Funny how the show about superpowered people on the moon turned into The Fantastically Mundane Hawaiian Misadventures of the Inhumans(tm) and meanwhile the show about the Earth-based spy agency goes full on sci-fi with spaceships, aliens, time travel and a post-apocalyptic Earth.

Regarding Daisy being responsible: I don't see how it's possible for her to do that when they all jumped past that point in time. If that was a thing that was going to happen then them jumping into the future and bypassing the apocalypse that they allegedly helped cause would already change the timeline. Unless it's predetermined that they're going back to the present to make that event happen and it's a stable time loop. But that couldn't be it either as the destruction of Earth will almost certainly be averted.

Then again I guess timey-wimey BttF mix of pre-determined timeline that can still be changed can still apply or whatever

fucking time travel

And I don't think it's anything to do with Thanos either as that seems too direct of a tie-in which they already said they're not really doing anymore.

So did this show get good? I quit shortly after that Thor 2 crossover episode because I just wasn't feeling it, but the most recent episode was on the TV and it looked pretty damn good.

Got to be honest, I didn't love it. Which surprises me.

Is the whole season going to be on that colony?

Also, at the end was he pimping out Gemma or something?

It's not a space station, it was an underground bunker, it's just floating in space now :P

Yes! That was season 1, right? It's improved dramatically since then and season 4 is some of the best MCU content period IMO.

Half expected Fitz to be the weatherman in the bar scene. Framing and focus felt like it was drawing to it.

That's what I expected. The TV was so prominent in the background that I expected more from it than a news report. I was expecting him to have left a message in the Framework base that Deke used that would detect any of Coulson's group and give them a message.

I was thinking the same thing, was sort of hoping they'd pull a Rose from Season 4 of Doctor Who where Rose (a previous companion who got stuck in an alternate dimension) would appear in the background during the season or something.

I enjoyed the episodes, but really hope it is not an entire season of them on this station.

Killjoys and Dark Matter have cornered the market space warehouse adventures

I'm thinking Fitz placed himself in the Framework somehow and that's how he's going to work with the team to get back.

Well, in general it's common in Marvel that the moment you time travel forward the era you travel becomes an alternate timeline by default(or even a separate universe) due to knowledge of the future meaning events are no longer constant. In fact in classic Fantastic Four there were a few cases where they time traveled forward to do a inter-dimensional jump for timeline synchronization. It's why seers are so dangerous in the Marvel universe

I can imagine it lets him and the kree openly talk about things in front of these people, who can't hear it and tell anyone. It also makes it harder for them to communicate to others, so any resistance can be hard to form. Also, torture to pacify them.
