Can anyone help with the screenshots bug (assume its a bug). I mentioned it ages ago, but not sure if anyone else had the same issue. I'm running the game in HDR, if I just snag a screenshot using the share button it comes out fine. However if I take a screenshot using the photomode (clicking in both sticks), it looks fine in game, but as soon as I view it back at the PS4 dashboard its all washed out, properly dull.

Also, I've just reached Memphis. Love it. I'm level 22, been playing for 25 hours.

It's a known bug. I can't use it either unless I turn off HDR.

I noticed chromatic aberration, but only during certain deserty miragey parts and such. It's ugly as always, but arguably kind of makes some sense in that context. It's actually cool how it's adaptive. Don't think I've ever seen that before. It is very much better than every other game where it's always on all the time everywhere on everything. Making this probably the best CA implementation I've seen.

It's still bad.

Some rock textures:

What's this? SuperMegaUltimate texture setting? Mine only go up to High, which ought to be what's displayed in my screenshots above. Granted the CA makes everything look unflattering.

Many of you listened to the whispers on the wind about two Egyptian gods. You didn't hesitate to face and beat them but that was just the beginning. New challenges await in December.

Title Update

A new title update will be released in December. This update will add more content and allow you to enjoy the game with increased challenge. Here's what you can look forward to:

  • Nightmare mode: a new Nightmare difficulty level will be available. The enemies will become more resilient to damages and more dangerous.
  • Enemy scaling: by popular request, we will add the enemy scaling option. When this option is activated, the game automatically scale the lower level enemies to your level.
  • Nightmare and First Civ pack items will be available in the Heka Chest.

You will also get two new quests:

  • A new quest introducing Horde mode. The event quest, Here Comes a New Challenger, will introduce you to Horde mode to satisfy your warrior longings. You can prove yourself in the Cyrene arena against unlimited waves of foes. We recommend Level 32 or higher.
  • A new surprise quest! (FFXV related)
Trials of the Gods

This month, players will have a chance to fight the last god of the god trio, the warrior goddess herself, Sekhmet. Are you ready to face the fiercest hunter known to the ancient Egyptians?

The Triad Awaits

But it does not end here. Back in November, many of you proved worthy when you beat Anubis and Sobek in the first two Trials of the Gods. We know that not everyone had the chance to face those gods at that time but fear not, now is your time. Players will have the chance to confront all three gods.

In-game Store Updates

Gladiator Items Pack – December 12
ACO Gladiator PackThis pack features the Spaniard's Armor, the Palladium shield, Hercules' Gladius (sword), Labrys (heavy blade) and Neptune's Grasp (spear).

Wacky Items Pack – December 26
The Wacky item pack will include a mount and four weapons. More information will be shared soon, but in the meantime, here's a quick hint: this pack will be a perfect fit for the bath Towel outfit.

A little disappointed that there's only 3 gods to fight overall, but still looking forward to the final duel.

Hoping that Horde Mode is fun as well.

I wonder what that special quest is???

The chromatic aberration is the one visual effect in this game that I'd wish they'd get rid of. It just looks like utter shit. You're enjoying this wide vista, gorgeous textures, an amazing draw distance, and then you glance at the sides of your screen and it's like you've taken some bad acid. Whatever chucklefuck thought it was a good idea for videogames to incorporate filters mimicking the parts of cameras that we wish we could improve is a goddamn moron. Hey, you know how photographers would love to be able to take pictures without the light refracting at certain angles causing banded color halos? We're going to put that very thing into our game! Also we'll add some film grain and pretend that there's dust on the lens, because what we're really after is all those little annoyances that prevent the perfect image that we're already capable of displaying. Just utter jackassery. At least give us the option to disable those "features" like we can with motion blur.

Now the heat waves in the desert; that's a neat effect. And when they throw in a hallucination on you? Wonderful.

Anybody use Cursed weapons? I'm level 39 at the moment and I just equipped one by accident. I never knew they existed.

Are they viable to use?

One thing that's weird about this game is how the cinematics don't seamlessly transition into gameplay anywhere near as often compared to previous titles. Part of what made AC1 "nextgen" was how cinematics would seamlessly transition into gameplay and the series never really strayed away from that, hell they even emphasized it later on when fully mocapped cutscenes would seamlessly transition back into the gameplay compared to having Altair stay in one place. In this game the majority of cinematics fade to black when they start and end. Even in the middle of quests, (before if a mission was active cinematics wouldn't fade to black when they started).Gotta say I prefer seamless transitions, especially in the short instances that this game does incorporate seamless transitions. They make the experience feel more cohesive as a whole.

They do double damage meaning they make battles a whole lot easier but way more risky as you only have 1 health bar.

They tend to fade into long load times more often than not.

They are viable to a degree. The very first weapon Reba gave me was a cursed sword and I have been using it on and off ever since. I find them to be my weapon of choice in stealth missions. Obviously you don't want to get seen, but if you do it is nice to have a sword that will silence the guard in like two hits and hopefully stop the base from going nuts. Also the health decrease doesn't matter too much because you don't really want to be getting into a big brawl with all the guards. I wouldn't recommend cursed weapons in big fights but if you just need the raw power they can be very useful.

I now have another while region to explore and I feel it is too much. I would have preferred if they just polished and fleshed out the parts before that so it doesn't feel so rushed sometimes.

The only time this particularly bothered me was

the final cutscene of the game, where the loading in between the different parts of the scene (particularly the last part where the cinematic transitions back into the open world) was very jarring to the point where it was distracting. A bug during the loading screen that made Bayek start spouting some dialogue from an earlier quest didn't help either.

Edit: added spoiler tags. Didn't think it was very spoiler-y but I thought about it and decided better to err on the side of caution.

Its too bad too. Because without those load times the story and transitions could have had a very nice flow to them.

Makes me wish the game had been given even more time to cook. That it gets so much right makes the things that don't stand out that much more.
Have to wonder if it's something that they couldn't get around considering the complexity and scale of the game compared to the rest of the series. I agree, story works best when the flow isn't interrupted at all.

Wat. I can't even remember when ACs did that. AC3 was chokefull of black screens and loading, probably the worst offender.

AC3 was really obnoxious with that white fade. looking back that was actually quite common depending on the mission in the first four. BF, Unity, and Syndicate tho, they were all about those nice smooth transitions.

Second rescue attempt: Inadvertently burnt her alive (thanks, oil jar).
Third rescue attempt: Pending. Success!

you guys doing every side mission as you go? or just main story?
I'm the kind of person who has to clear side quest markers off the map, so I've been doing all the quests that are nearby and/or within level range as I come across them.
.... and that's also how I got to be level 40 by the time the game sends you north to the Green Mountain province.

(I haven't been nearly so compulsive about clearing out the '?' symbols though)

yeh, i normally do that too. i feel like it gives you a better, more immersive experience of the world. but it comes at the cost of consistent narrative imo. like, i end up forgetting where i'm currently at with the main story and theres big periods of time between them. also sometimes when i'm doing the OCD thing i get burnt out and never finish the story.

The permanent vignette effect is much more annoying to me. It gets deactivated if you switch to photo mode making it really obvious how strong the effect is. Other than that I also wish they'd give us more control over post processing effects.

I have been riding around in the desert for over an hour now, getting every mirage except the one I need for the trophy.

Why would you do this to me Ubisoft.

At least I'm getting in some good podcast time...

I'm guessing there's no way of hiding the ability point icon without completely hiding the entire UI? How does a series go having the best UI toggles to one of the worst?

Anyone else notice the UI not going away anymore in photomode? Normally it would disappear if I didn't touch anything, but now it persists. Can't take a proper screenshot anymore.

It's buggy. I've restarted the game and it will fade again. It's quite annoying because I have to use PS Share to take pics because I have the HDR washed out photo bug too.
I wish they'd address these issues faster.

I'm so glad that I still to this day have no idea what chromatic aberration even is. Sometimes wilful ignorance really is bliss.

Personally, I thought Origins had a nice balance of main and side quests, and did a good job of moving me along to each new area as the story progressed. It felt like a satisfying amount of content, and not much of it pointless. I'd recommend doing them all.

I could imagine easily getting lost in the world for hours though, chasing all those '?' icons and stuff, losing track of things. I steered well clear of that. There's plenty of time to go explore, after finishing the story.

Fuck, this game is so good. I thought it was really good.. then I found a cat.. knelt down and he petted the cat. Fuck those touches make games so great.

Now I'm standing in a spot and 2 cats are following me around meowing.

Such a stupid but cool thing to program in.

Also Egypt is such a great place to put a game like this. So beautiful... the pretty full move to an open world RPG suited the series so good.

My feels too! I didn't know about Egypt but now that I'm here I am loving it. The RPG stuff makes it even better for me. I love getting cool new weapons

i absolutely love this game. so amazing.

Loving this game after being off AC since BF ....it just got stale and tired and there were better games to play

Origins is scratching a whole load of itches.

The extra time spent on polishing this stands out and as a location, it is wonderfully crafted and fun to explore. Even the RPG light factor works superbly, love the sell or deconstruct and the unique feel and play of each weapon and type...the differing metred kills are also great. Very polished and it shows.

Just a fun game tbh -as an open-world game it's not matching Horizon for story/worldbuilding or Zelda for just pure charm and surprises, but it does take from both games (clearly they watched and adapted to those early 2017 releases as well as other Ubi staples such as Farcry) while keeping the best of what makes AC unique (stealth, choose your approach etc)

IMO this will get overlooked for any GOTY awards - but it deserves some kudos. If you were wavering and are hankering for more of what has made 2017 a standout year - dive in (but watch out for the hungry hippos !!)

Anyone with xbx notice the trees looks straight out of n64 era? LOD is awful now. Is something wrong with the way my hardrive is steaming or is it the game?

Got the scarab soldier outfit with a Reda lootbox. I really like it.

I did all papyrus puzzles:
When I got the item quest "Mysterious Papyrus", I thought there was a quest linked to it. But no, it was just this item. It's a bit disapointing.

I think I did pretty much everything possible in the game. I'll launch it again when the new Trial of God is available.

Yeah, this game is s breath of fresh air for the series, just what it needed. The combat system, upgrades, loot, etc., are all well done. I'm enjoying doing side quests for literally the first time ever in an open world game. Great sense of discovery. The Pyramids and tombs are a palate cleanser. Really enjoying it.

Played a bunch of hours today and it's really scratching that Witcher 3 itch, loving it so far. The most far I've been is Giza with the pyramids, the map is just insanely big.

the last few hours of the story (just beyond the faux point of no return) weren't that great. the "Origins" aspect of the narrative just felt incredibly slapdash and rushed to the point where I just kind of shrugged at the finale.

it's still an excellent game and the best AC since Brotherhood, but man did the last handful of missions really bum me out

This guy rode all over the lake with me.

Had that happen to me last night. I felt bad for the guy cause I was steering directly into a bunch of crocodiles to get some hard leather. He was completely relaxed about the entire experience. That bird is unflappable (BOOM, wing pun).

The artbook has some really beautiful stuff in it, just fyi.
Where is this art book?

I love it when Achievements reveal spoilers about the game. Why would you name the Achievement
See Rome and Die? I legitimately did not know I would be leaving Egypt. Thanks!
