Really neat premiere. Also a bit convenient way to explain how/why the Agents are pretty much MIA during the Thanos incident.

I like the new cast members and how different this season is from the past. Very hard pivot and I think it's a smart move.

I hope we see Fitz soon. Doesn't feel quite right without him.

My personal headcanon of Daisy being bumble-king in Chief stays strong would be lying if I said I didn't go into this episode waiting to see what she messed up now.

Mack is GOAT as always

Just finished the two episodes now.

I don't like them keeping Fitz and Simmons separate. I'm over it. I'm so fucking over the writers shitting on them two. I'm 1000% done with it. STOP. I WANT MY SCIENTISTS TO BE HAPPY TOGETHER! Stop hurting them :(

This was done out of necessity, not because the writers are evil. The actor who plays Fitz was out filming something else when they were filming the first part of the season so he was written out of the space adventures, at least at the start.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say Fitz as a LMD is the person in that ship at the end of the episode. The show will also scenes in the present where real Fitz and Hunter try solving this shit.

It's not a space station, it was an underground bunker, it's just floating in space now :P

:P Was trying to find the right term and just went with space station.

Anyway I think we will probably get an episode that's focused on Fitz, like how we had one of Simmons trapped on that planet. I also agreed with the Fitz inthe future being an LMD or a print from the Framework, like Aida.

Do anyone else feel like the agent saying "We're in the middle of the season. It doesn't even occur to her." Could also mean we have started in the middle of the season as viewers, and that later on we will go back in time. Actually never mind, no matter what, we will probably see Fitz in current time since he was left back at the coffee shop.

And why is that monolith white and not black? Who made it white and altered it's capabilities to send people to the future?

Lmao I love Mack. He has started off well with all these lines. "It should have been a book." And Coulson's "first of all, I'm not inspector Gadget." A bummer he doesn't have his arm's cool techs. Would love to see it used up in space. I like the Fury mention, the black box mention and Yoyo mentioning Spear lol, and thinking they always had people on the moon. There's some great dialogue in this pilot.

Finally we get to see Deke! That trap he set on May was genius, gravity!

Hell yeah, Mack knows what's up! "Science my ass." There you go Marvel TV producers lol. "That's what they say before getting picked off one by one. And we know who the first one will be." Damn Mack is on point! Oh man, a Howard Stark mention. I live for these references.

Kree!!!

The Thrawler is cool. Bring more spaceships to the show. Damn, Earth is completely ruined. Thanos won!

That was an insanely good pilot wow! I'm impressed. Onto episode 2!

I like this Tess girl! And that these people are so different from the Shield agents from our time. And these Kree's are something, that dude just got smashed by the lady's balls lmao.

It was such a stupid move by Jhemma. They got to blend in and not cause any suspicion and she jumps out the crowd to help some privileged dude. That's now how we survive here!

Framework! Fuuuuck.

Holy fuck at Quake destroying the Earth!!! Actually I think Deke might have just been misinformed or pieced together history wrong. Thanos is canon lol. And Jhemma hnnng, have become perfection.

This show have become too damn good. This whole human "prison" has become interesting, especially seeing our agents out of their elements figuring out how things work and learning some new pieces here and there.

This show is crazy. You know when a Whedon show gets to 5 seasons they got to throw everything out of orbit...quite literally in this case.

Yo-Yo seems to be their get-out-of-jail-free card here, but I'm sure they will find ways to nerf her. Also having Quake in an enclosed space, probably won't end well for everyone.

Not sure Daisy really needs a new love interest, but it looks like Barely Cooper will be sticking around for a while. He seems like the type who seems totally selfish in the beginning but ends up making a sacrifice play at the end. Hopefully they don't make his arc that obvious.

Yo-yo basically is "nerfed," in that her ability is already limited as she basically functions as a yo yo, and having to come back to her starting position after a heartbeat.

Anyone else get a little chill when the Framework theme started playing? As if there weren't enough unsettling things these two episodes...

So glad this show is back.

Curious to see the real cause of the bad future (thanos?), see how they make it back to the present and if they do warn Fury of anything. Would be a nice tie in for IW, similar the the Ultron heli carrier tie in.

The episode 3 extended promo is on Youtube.

I need our Kree lady to get a name. She can't be this cool, and not have a name. I also hope Kaius will be a formidable foe in this first arc.

Someone on the AV Club comment section mentioned that the clouds in the simulation were copy pasted haha. I noticed the buildings, but didn't notice the sky.

So did this show get good? I quit shortly after that Thor 2 crossover episode because I just wasn't feeling it, but the most recent episode was on the TV and it looked pretty damn good.

Yes. The show starts finding itself a few episodes after where you stopped. Seasons 2 and especially 4 are two of the top things in the MCU.

Honestly, that's before the first half. I would suggest just starting over. So much of what happens means so much more if you've watched from the beginning.

Oh, I must have missed the mention of her name. Thanks for this! I like Sinara and Kaius so far, I hope they turns out to be a menace.

Man, Ghost Rider have to come in riding on a space bike this season!

I don't think they mentioned her mentioned to be fair I had to look it up to find it

http://tvline.com/2017/12/02/agents-shield-ratings-season-5-premiere/

Ratings are in.

ABC's Agents of SHIELD returned on a new night to 2.5 million total viewers and a 0.7 demo rating, marking its largest audience since Jan. 10 while steady in the demo versus its May finale (2.1 mil/0.7).

(Once Upon a Time most recently did 2.3 mil/0.5 opening Friday night, while Inhumans averaged 2.6 mil/0.6 in the 9 o'clock time slot and at last tally did 2 mil/0.5.)

CBS | MacGyver (6.7 mil/0.8) and Hawaii Five-0 (8.6 mil/0.9) each dipped a tenth to match series lows. Blue Bloods (8.8 mil/0.9) slipped to its third-smallest audience ever while steady in the demo.

NBC | Blindspot (3.3 mil/0.7) rose a tenth.

FOX | The Exorcist (1.23 mil/0.4) tied its smallest audience while steady in the demo.

THE CW | Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer (1.34 mil/0.3) improved on Crazy Ex's most recent numbers by 100 and 50 percent.

Expectations for Fridays are obviously different than they would be on Tuesdays and this was a solid start, matching NBC in the demo and being just behind CBS. Hopefully ABC feels that they've found a solid anchor to keep going on Fridays. Perhaps turning it into a "genre night" will end up being a smart idea?

(Also, CBS actual viewership is the clear outlier. How in the world do they get 8 million viewers on Friday?

Woo, finally made time to watch these episodes. God, I missed this show. Agree with the sentiments of this being a very smart way of avoiding IW, as well as it feeling as if it is an entirely new show.

But we need Fitz to make us whole again!

The writers really like to make Simmons suffer

Yea... :(

Not caught up so I'm not gonna read this thread, but just watched the episode "Self Control".

I really liked it, and I'm not much on the whole Marvel Universe, my wife likes it so I watch and was impressed - seems to be a rare series that seems to get better as it ages. Hope the dont fuck it up..

This show isn't even high budget for TV, not like say Game of Thrones, but because of my watching so many CW superhero shows lately the production values of SHIELD are such a huge leap. Actual sets, good CG, new locations! Hoorah. The shuttle flight out into the ruins of Earth looked superb.

Very strong premiere, anyway. The writers have so much confidence now, particularly after Season 4 worked so well, and it shows by how deftly they are striding forward with a completely altered setting. The second half of the two parter gave me some SG-1 vibes I am totally ok with.
Shout out to the Alien-esque music to evoke that space atmosphere. Given it's one of the best movie scores of all time it's a good one to crib from to quickly generate effective eerie mood.

The shuttle sequence and the shots of earth was phenomenal, movie quality easy, was they money laundering Inhuman's budget into AoS' pockets? Not mad if they did

I did notice some reused sets though. It looked like the corridors of that space bunker (The Lighthouse?) was the same hallways of the Shield headquarters heh.

I've been on and off this show for ages, think the last time I was really into was when they were really kicking in with the Inhumans stuff with Daisy's mum and dad. Should I give season 3 a watch or can I skip to 4 because I heard that was pretty good by accounts?

Don't listen to this person, half the stuff in 4 won't have nearly the same impact if you skip a whole season. Plus season 3 had some great stuff even if it's not as good as 2 and 4.
