Well, I beat SotFS...
Final Time: 45:09
Final Level: 177
Final Death Count: 267
The final few encounters (Throne Watcher/Defender, Nashandra, Aldia) were all a little underwhelming, tbh. So much so that I kinda consider the Burnt Ivory King to be the real final boss (more on that incredible fight in a little bit), and everything in the Throne of Want to be sort of an epilogue. As for ending, I chose to take the throne. I left the Klin in Dark Souls 1 without linking the fire, and I somehow bumbled my way to the Usurpation of Fire ending in Dark Souls 3 without using a guide (please be impressed), so I figured it was finally time I actually did the "canon" ending.
Anyway, this is still probably my favorite of the Dark Souls trilogy (although it has been years since I played 1, so it might be time to go back and reassess my opinion of it). Base game was great, outside of a few areas. But, the DLC was what really put it over the top. All three are top tier Souls areas, in my opinion (outside of the stupid challenge areas). If I had to rank them, it would be Brume Tower > Eleum Loyce > Shulva.
Speaking of Eleum Loyce, I really enjoyed the whole story of the Ivory King and Alsanna. It was pretty cool to encounter a child of dark that was actually amicable (at least, once you get to her). And the fight with the Ivory King was fucking badass. I mean damn...You and your crew of Loyce knights plunging headfirst into the motherfucking Old Chaos to put a once great king and his knights out of their misery. Everything about that fight was incredible. And the moment when the giant flaming pillar bursts out of the ground and the Ivory King emerges from it i just can't omg it's too much aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh-
*ahem*
Overall it was a really wonderful experience, and I'm glad I took the time to finally beat this game. I'm probably gonna finish Nioh next, since I've been meaning to really sink my teeth into it for a long time. I might go through Dark Souls 3 again too, since I never touched the DLC. But, I dunno...I didn't like 3 as much as I thought I would...Is the DLC worth going through? I know literally nothing about either expansions except for the names. Also, is NG+ in 2 worth going through? I've never been too big on NG+ because I usually move on to something else once I beat a game, but I hear that this one actually mixes things up a good deal...
