You know damn well those not gonna count. Also mlb 19, medievil and blood and truth(that won't count)
Of course Sony can't have a strong 2019 if neither TLoU Part II or Death Stranding are among the first-party exclusives./s

Yikes some people are really hell bent on downplaying what looks to be another great year for PlayStation. What makes any of these games outside of Days Gone "not worth a damn"? I remember when more abstract games like Journey were a big deal. I remember when innovation and creativity was lauded. What changed? What about third-party exclusives like Judgment, Nioh 2 and Shenmue III? This thread is getting worse.

Concrete Genie is probably going to suck, but Dreams will easily be a 95 MC game, and it's bursting with more creativity and ambition that anything else out there.

I don't know, Dreams is pretty niche. I think there will be people who really love it and people who are turned off by it. It'll be more like a fine scotch than something like Bud Light. I hope Dreams and Concrete are solid, but Days Gone is far and away the best PS4 game for 2019...so far :)

So what was it that made you change your mind?

Because there's more layers to the gameplay mechanics (bike, encampment loyalties etc) and the world is a lot more dynamic than it looked like originally. Coupled with the fact they've had a lot of extra dev time since that showing, I think they'll end up putting out a decent game that should resonate with the audience they're aiming for. I'll qualify that I don't expect it to hit the heights critically or commercially of Sony's other flagship stuff, but eh that's fine. It's their first foray on console in a good while and they're not a huge studio. If it manages to shift a couple of mill I think they should probably be happy with that. Even Uncharted 1 was a bit jank in places and look how 2 turned out.

Thank you for elaborating on what made you change your mind. I wonder if most sceptics are simply unaware of all these features/mechanics you've mentioned?

I gotta ask you a question: What have you seen of the game?

Just wondering because the way people are talking about it only makes me think they saw the E3 footage.

I've seen a few videos of it, not just the E3 footage. Don't take me wrong, people can enjoy the game, my opinion might have come off a bit hard, but it seems as janky as State of Decay, overall.

Thanks for explaining.

It does make sense then as I feel just watching videos doesn't do it justice. I recommend you read the interviews with the developers and the previews as those are the biggest reason people are excited for it. (Or not if you feel you won't like it anyway).

Much of this is still extremely shallow criticism given everything there is to actually watch and read about the game.

I agree the jankiness is a real problem that I hope more time in the oven will fix, but the "generic protagonist" argument is still as lazy as it gets. The main protagonist is modelled after the very unique-looking Sam Witwer, is a member of a biker faction in the game, so his appearance and attire makes sense in the context of the game. Are you saying that Sam Witwer is a generic-looking person or what? What does "feels like a character you've played before" mean? Cause he's a male lead? What biker have you played as before? None of your suggestions for sound better, and actually make it sound less appealing. Why do you feel like gender and disability gives a character its uniqueness? That's just senseless. How many people do you see walking the streets every day that look like this:

tumblr_ojvn5567kN1vlv3avo1_540.gif

"Generic"... Joel is a more generic looking person than Deacon St. John.

Your initial impressions are just that. Doesn't sound like you're making any attempt to look further at what this game actually is and does. It's a good thing the preview impressions that we've seen so far have been overwhelmingly positive and we can file your complaints under "not played it and don't want to".
The game needs alot more polish as many have pointed out as well. The delays didn't seem to help in my opinion from seeing the latest videos. But they still have few more months to work on it. Need more work.

You are commenting on how they need to do something that they are in fact doing. Since we found out that it was delayed into 2019 (for polish), what footage have you seen that you are basing your judgements on when arguing that the delay hasn't helped? What footage have they shown since E3 2018?

the last 1-2 gameplay footage are severely lacking in the shooting department when the horde is on screen and the melee animation are still hit and miss.

give me a couple of minutes and i will post the trailer and a short analysis if you are open to discussion.

I've read your arguments about the game/gameplay and I get where you're coming from. I'm not saying the game isn't rough around the edges from what we've seen or that it doesn't need more polish. I've argued that, yes it does.

You should read that dude's original point(s) though. In his response to me, they continued that they feel the delay has not been helpful for Bend Studio, despite them not actually having shown anything for the game since E3 2018, which is exactly they announced the delay for the game. I don't understand why they would they say that when there's nothing to substantiate it.

ok so this is the latest trailer collection

the fact is that i'm not sure if the last trailers they release are 2019 stuff with improvements or an old build...
in this trailer the horde is still mediocre in the reaction\animation\ragdoll departement but again i'm not sure if this is a new build or not.

the melee seem better for the most part but the melee animations are always been hit and miss in this game since the reveal so is not a great clue.

(really sorry for my english)

It's cool, I understood your english! They can't release 2019 footage in 2018 though, what they show after the reveal will always be an old build. So what we last saw from the game (June 2018) won't have been "hot off the press" gameplay. Also, whatever we saw from Game Informer last year will also be old build. All that said, I really want Days Gone to live up to a game like Horizon Zero Dawn as far as gameplay animations go. I don't think anyone wants an inconsistent experience.

i'm gonna say something of unexpected here but the shooting in days gone (with few enemies on screen) is already so much better than the combat against human in horizon...i love horizon so much but the human combat was utter shit in that game and probably the biggest flaws in the gameplay department by far, you can't find a worst human reaction to a bow than horizon unfortunately...
it's crazy if you think at killzone saga and the famous death ballet gif...
