They lie like that all the time. Also for stuff like Fargo and anything where they have first broadcast rights outside of the US

So they're not lying. They're actually paying the production company as much as the regular network is for broadcasting rights.

I've seen it on the menus but never actually on the show itself.

Also this guy's six pack is making me feel like less of a man >_>

Netflix Originals sounds quite misleading when they're not involved in the production and they're not the first party airing it.

ehm you know that TV NETWORKS dont actually produce the shows? different studios (like sony did with breaking bad) make the shows and license (to AMC in that case) so they can say AMC ORIGINAL

Where have you been, its been doing great since its 1st season.

Well, i saw the first few episodes (2 or 3, not sure), asserted it was a bunch of steaming crap and forgot it's existence in a few weeks. I was so sure it wouldn't even see the end of the first season that i assumed it would definitely not get a second... Thus the awful surprise...

Altered Carbon! Yeah, the budget was reported to be around $7 million an episode.
Written by the writer of Pathfinder, Terminator Genisys and who created hit superhero show Birds of Prey!
(yes, I know there are other writers on the show. But she's the head writer and I just don't have expectations)

Literally always been the case. The very first show to get the Netflix Original branding was Lilthammer which was commissioned by NRK in Norway.

It's now an accepted term for exclusive first run rights, Hulu and several others use it as well.

So you have a problem with CW calling it a CW show, too?

It's still a simulcast show, so there's no firsts, btw.

It literally airs first on The CW.

The TV networks do have something more to say than that. They have content feedback and approval. Does Netflix have the same in these cases?

Now you're just arguing technicalities, simulcast usually refers to something being aired within 24h. Timezones are a thing.

They are the first party to air it in that region, and like I said earlier "Netflix Original" has always meant exclusive first run rights.

HBO is premiering Alan Ball's Here and Now in February.

First trailer is up on Twitter (or embedded below):

---
Barry will launch sometime during the spring.
Trailer:

Cool, I'll give them both a shot. I knew Barry was coming up soon, but I was surprised to see the Alan Ball series up and ready to go since there hasn't been much discussion about it aside form some casting a few months ago.

CW pays for the production.

If you're talking about Riverdale then the CW licences the show from Warner Bros (with CBS a co-producer to a certain extent) for theNorth American broadcast television 'window'. It's Warner Bros Television who produce and finance the show and it's them that sell the show to Netflix for a 'second window' licence in North America and for a first window (effectively the same as the CW's broacast licence fee) for international territories.

Because Netflix are showing Riverdale in it's 'first window' in international markets exclusively it is dubbed an 'Original'.

It's very possible CW only pays for part of the budget and Netflix pays for the rest.
With S2 i'd definitely bet on that being true.

Technically yes, but they go around saying "we want to make a Riverdale show" basically in concept stage to the major networks.
CW says "we like this, here is the money to go make us a pilot", if CW likes the pilot they put in an order of episodes.

I definitely forgot about the series, although I also haven't given any real conscious thought to HBO's future lineup in quite some time. I suspect that Succession show will be a similar 'hey look what's ready to air' surprise.

I don't envy their situation, they should give the character a proper send-off (I'm assuming he'll die), but they need to do it without using the actor (even in flashbacks or while playing a corpse).
Seems simple enough to just have him assassinated off screen. Fitting, too. For got the character and the actor.

Wait... The shitty MacGyver reboot is actually doing good ? How is that even possible ? It's an insult to a cult classic... (cult classic to me, at least)
At first I felt the same as you. I remember rushing in from playing outside to catch MacGyver every Monday night. Loved that show.

But I still enjoy the remake. They've done a good job on the dynamic between all of the characters, but especially so with Jack and Riley.

The best thing to do is judge the show on it's own basis and not compare it to the original MacGyver. I do like the 'team' aspect this show has, which the original MacGyver did not. But nothing will ever beat Bruce McGill as charlatan Jack Dalton.

Will need to catch up on this. I've watched the first episode, but that is it.

Considering the original House of Cards ends with Francis Urqhart dying, Frank's death is more than deserved and it'll be interesting to see how Claire gets to shine. If anything, it couled allow the creators to put their own spin on the 2016 election.

So Grizzlyjin from the other place finally responded to my message asking if he was coming over after posting ratings over there for nobody for a while,
Said he no longer has the Gaf email, is there any way we can get him over?
Was a great part of most of the tv threads there.

Of course they can kill him off screen and I'm sure they will, but it's curious how they'll show an aftermath of his death. The easiest solution would probably be to skip a few months or maybe a year to let things settle down, but would it be the best choice? Anyway I'm just guessing here, I dropped HoC after season 3. ;)

He doesn't need the Gaf email, just a non-free email address, or... Does he have an iCloud email account? I heard they were usable over here (though that may have changed). Otherwise, contact a Mod or admin and explain the situation - they might make an allowance in a special case like this.

I dunno, they could use a double for Frank and just shoot the assassination from the killers POV in the crowd and just go straight to Claire arriving at the hospital to be told that Frank died from there and then use it to her advantage politically. No real need for a time skip, I think.

The whole thing about watching a show called House of Cards though is that you eventually want to see the house of cards come tumbling down - but how is it even remotely satisfying if the main guy who orchestrated everything is dead? Having his deeds exposed and sending him to jail to rot, in disgrace, would be much better.

The Good Place's Jianyu is guest starring in this episode of The Good Doctor -because of course he is- and he's playing the exact same character (except this one isn't a DJ, but a pro gamer), so I'm now officially making these two shows exist in the same universe.
