Y'know, I've watched all the episodes this season so far and could not tell you what the fuck is going on. Blame my lack of attention since I'll start playing something on Switch, but it's indicative of how much they're dragging their feet that I've completely tuned out, when back in the Prison arc I'd be glued to the TV. Can someone give me a quick re-cap of where the hell we are this season?

The entire plot of this half-season, as best as I recall:

Rick brought together all the good guys to attack the Savior base, during which they lured a zombie heard there to surround the base and pin down the Saviors. The plan was to starve them down to the point they bend the knee to Rick and give up Negan.

Rick's group split up and attacked the Savior outposts. These were mostly successful, except that King Ezekiel's group got wiped out and the tiger got killed.

Rick went to the Trash People to get them on his side DESPITE ALL THEIR BETRAYALS and got captured. Then they joined him for some reason.

Daryl got bored of waiting and crashed a truck into the Savior compound, which let the zombies in and also let the Saviors kill the zombies and escape, somehow.

The End

Edit: Rick saw a helicopter go overhead (unless he hallucinated it?), which was the most interesting thing this season, imo.

I feel like the seasons are becoming exponentially dragged out now. You can literally sum up these first 7 episodes in a few sentences. It's absolutely infuriating to watch.

Christ it's even worse than I thought.

Is anyone even interested in seeing Negan carry on after all of this? Like the Governer, they completely shat the bed with him.

How are we supposed to root for imbeciles? Rick meeting with the garbos is so incredibly stupid that I have to imagine the writers are straight up trolling us at this point.

I don't even like him anymore.

It's clear that they'll make anyone do literally anything to get a plot point accomplished.

In a show driven by its characters (in concept).. There's nothing left to watch. I'm just here cuz I'm invested in the story built over the years but am even losing interest in that too.

On a show overflowing with awful actors, the legitimately good ones really stand out. Think the guy who plays Eugene is very good. Say what you want about the actual character but this dude plays the part well.

As usual with this episode there were a handful of eye rolling, sigh-inducing scenes but I think it may have been the best one yet. Not a high bar by any means, but decent.

Zombies are inept when the principal cast is involved, but zombies are super fucking efficient whenever it's a bad guy or minor redshirt character.

See: carl last week vs the zombie truck attack this week.

I didn't mind the Governor, I think compared to Negan I was overall more entertained by the Governor and enjoyed him more as a villain. Negan just isn't a compelling villain to me, which is disappointing considering how influential he is in the comics.

Who was supposed to be helping Rick? I totally switched off at the end of the episode and just saw him climbing that tower and looking shocked.

Or Gabriel/Negan literally shooting through hordes surrounding them in a closed area once their cover was blown.

Why is Eugene such a fucking idiot? Him and Dwight easily could just pop a cap in Neegan's head at this point but no.

I'm hoping him downing the wine was him working up that but no the writers will obviously have to have a rick neegan 1 on 1 axe bat battle.

The writers need to kill off Negan already, move all the way on from the saviors and follow up on that brief helicopter shot. WRAP IT UP.

It makes no fucking sense.

Rick apparently was supposed to go to the garbage people, get captured.. be stuck for a long time (days?), and then without communicating with anyone just show up at the Savior's place and have everyone ready to go to finish off the plan.

He was expecting snipers to be already chilling in the tower, that's who he radio'd too that wasn't there. Now we get to see manufactured drama because Daryl's stupid decisions backfired predictably.

Maybe Eugene built a bigger version of his glider and he, Neegan, Dwight, mustache-man and the workers all glided to safety.

Simon is literally the only character I actually like and am interested in seeing what happens with him....

95% of these characters I could care less if they died in the first 5 mins. of each episode.

Did anyone else notice that they gave
Gabriel's
death to a red shirt in yesterday's episode? The guy hanging upside down from the sniper tower with his face eaten off.

I did! I was just thinking about that death the other day, so I laughed when I saw it. The last time they did something like that was when Denise got an arrow through the eye.

Came to say that this season is just an unbearable snoozefest... But, as I see, that's already been done.
It's hard to fathom why I'm still watching it.

The only thing I liked about this episode was Rick's nipples.

This show is now an FPS, they even have infinite ammo.

How do I not remember that death from the comic? I pretty much remember all of the big ones, what issue is this?

I'm just sitting here thinking that Walking Dead might end up like Sons of Anarchy for me: If it had been on Showtime, been planned from the start to be about 3 seasons long, and had better writing and directing, it could have been a "trashy but great" classic.

There's no other place to post it, so I'll just post in here:

Garret Dillahunt (Deadwood) and Jenna Elfman (Dharma and Greg) have joined the cast of Fear the Walking Dead S4 as series regulars. No word of what kind of characters they're playing. This is in addition to Ray McKinnon (Deadwood), who will presumably return as well.

Maggie Grace has also joined the cast of S4 as a series regular.

Kevin Zegers has also joined the cast for S4.

What was suppose to be a turning point for the series (Negan & Saviors) has grinded the show to a halt. Defeat the Saviors and kill Negan ASAP. Then move on to something else and make a fresh start, if they don't want to end the show. The Saviors storyline is 3 season in the making and is mediocre at almost every turn.

Season 4 is still the last season I think I truly enjoyed. I really liked watching the Prison/Governor storylines and how they came to their ends.

I don't hate this season like a lot of others, but WTF at Rick going back to the garbage pail kids?

It's also unfortunate and really noticeable how they introduced the Saviors as this seemingly unstoppable, super powerful force, only for them to be portrayed as idiots in this season.

The fact that people walk around in the woods with a three inch knife to kill zombies, and don't have a readily supply of home made pikes that could easily dispatch a zombie from a meter away, shows how stupid this show is and how manufactured the zombie drama is.

How difficult is it to

1) Take a big stick
2) Carve a pointed edge and harden, or tie a sharp edge to the stick
3) Screw a should strap so you can carry it on your back while holding a gun

We saw the Hilltop do this, why the fuck doesn't EVERYONE have this stuff at all times? Even if you're a fucking loner like that random dude Carol picked up, why is she still fucking around with a little dinky knife when he already made giant spears as traps?

Or, if you're outnumbered with your three inch knife, you can just jog away and regroup instead of panicking like an idiot.

Yep, I cant remember the first time I really noticed the drop in quality in characters making stupid decisions just to move the plot... I would say it mostly started in the season after the final where morgan showed back up (although there were issues before then of course like Andrea's stupid decisions). But Daryl making his stupid decision to screw over the plan and completely ignoring Rick's plan is the height of stupidity, along with Rick going back to the Garbage people by himself (and the garbage people's decisions while he was there).

I've been on board with this series since the start, even though it almost lost me during season 2 I think, or was it season 3...
But I'm now at a point where I'm becoming really frustrated by the whole thing.
Did they lose certain writers or something? Because it all falls so flat on it's face this season. :-/

Didn't work last year. Not working this year.
Perhaps feeling the need to follow the comic storyline is going to kill this show. Negan was a mistake. It just might be the end of The Walking Dead. Then they can continue on with Fear The Walking Dead without being tied to comic storylines.

The thing that bothers me about current TWD are these repeated coerced dichotomies (to kill people or not to kill vis-à-vis Jesus after Morgan and others struggled with this), shoehorned fissures in the group such as sticking to Rick's plan vs going along with Darryl's urgency, etc. It's a musical chair of the same themes and I'm growing jaded.

The bit with Naked Rick and the zombie was comedic levels of bad.

I haven't tuned into anything beyond the second episode of this season. Despite this, I know what the problem has been; the source material is just too long to follow. The Walking Dead comic series is closing in on its 200th edition and its 13th year. Even for a comic book series, this is long as hell. The walking dead is now longer than the sandman.

The TV show needs to divorce itself from the books hard and wrap this up next season. End this arch, set up a time jump and finish this.

So fucking boring. Especially because we already saw this last season with their previous garbage heap zombie monster. Once was enough, it's practically the same exact scene.

I try not to think of all the tactically stupid things that this show does every single episode. I actually got excited when Sasha threw that thing in the school to make noise somewhere other than where she was to cause a distraction. Then she shot the guy with the rpg and it went back to stupid

If you nitpick all the dumb shit they do it'll drive you crazy

Rick's face at the end of episode seven was priceless, realizing how fucked the whole plan went (because of Daryl, go figure...). Gonna be interesting to see what goes down tonight.

Also, has anyone watched the most recent episode of Red Machete yet? It's pretty uneventful, but I did have some nostalgia at the end of it.
