I hope a sale like that doesn't happen in the US this week... I've already got Tangledeep, Dragon: Marked for Death, and Wargroove... I can't handle anymore.

Hmm, interesting sale!

I'm thinking of picking up Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime.

Can anyone let me know if it would be playable for an 8 year old?

Well, time to check some videos on Rain World...

...

I'm getting some Oddworld vibes from this, am I too off the mark? It also reminds me a bit of Knytt Underground, which I played on the Wii U and liked, but thought was a bit bare-bones.

Glad to see Rain World is on sale, I recommend it very highly..... best game that came out on the eShop last year tbh

Also would be very interested to see impressions of Tangledeep, specifically how well it plays with a controller, since it seems like a pretty hotbar-heavy game...

New Star Manager is very good, by the way. Very addictive and it should be a lot better on Switch without the constant reminders asking you to buy coins etc.

So ready to explore Tangledeep later today! For those interested there's a really interesting talk by the developer on a lot of the design decisions he made regarding difficulty levels:

Damn, I was ready to jump on Tangledeep even though I've already got Dragon: Marked for Death and Wargroove to play. Looks like it's yet another game with a "Switch tax" attached to it for no apparent reason. I guess I'll wait for a sale instead.

Wait, there's preorder DLC for DMFD?

It's a weapon for each class (you get all four regardless of which version you choose). Not sure if it's a true exclusive or something you can buy later, but if it's the former you can just wait until the physical version comes out because that includes the same weapons.

Wait, there's a new Etrian Odyssey releasing this week?

Downwell is pretty fun on the phone. I imagine I'd like it better with actual buttons so I'll be jumping in on that.

You could remap your buttons in Super Metroid.

You could? Never knew. I don't try to change the control layout if i can help it because I sometimes get the silly idea that the devs made the game to play like that for a particular reason. Like maybe the focus of the game should be on a different way of playing instead of what I am use to. Like if shooting was on the face and something else on triggers, maybe the game isn't focused on shooting?

Damn, I was ready to jump on Tangledeep even though I've already got Dragon: Marked for Death and Wargroove to play. Looks like it's yet another game with a "Switch tax" attached to it for no apparent reason. I guess I'll wait for a sale instead.

NINTENDO SWITCH EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

Encounter and capture strange new creatures throughout the dungeon, such as the spiky Hardshell Snapper and frosty Polarattler!

Explore a new area at the start of your adventure, Riverstone Waterway, with its unique biome and challenges!

Redesigned controls and interface specifically for Switch Joy-Cons and Pro Controller!

Is that worth $5 to you? I don't know, but it looks like they put in an effort to port it to Switch and add some things. To me, even though not interested too much in the game, that seems fair. I mean a whole new area/biome with challenges seems worth it.

This is really cool! I had decided to wait for a sale, but now I'm considering grabbing it at full price.

Picked up 'Halcyon 6', 'Downwell', 'Planetarian' and 'Gabbuchi'.

Really intrigued with 'Gabbuchi' that I had preordered, a Japanese puzzle platformer inspired by the 'BoxBoy' series.

Thanks for pointing this out. I didn't scroll down enough to see this on the eShop page. I haven't played the game, so I don't know how significant a new starting area and some new enemies will be, but it's nice to see that some extra effort went into the Switch version. I don't know if that justifies a 33% price increase over the Steam version but it's worth considering. If the port runs well and doesn't have any significant technical problems then I may still pick it up at full price.

So I've just seen this review for Dragon Marked for Death:

https://www.gamespace.com/reviews/switch-reviews/dragon-marked-for-death/

"Something of note as well is how the game's purchase works. Inti Creates wanted to try to have a low barrier of entry for the game, which lead to creating two separate releases, Frontline Fighters and Advanced Attackers. Each version retails for $15 in the US eShop at release, coming with two of the game's four characters. Frontline Fighters comes with the Empress and the Warrior, while Advanced Attackers comes with the Shinobi and the Witch. However, the games are the same regardless of the characters. This means you will get gear drops for classes you can't play, as well as be locked out of paths in levels that require a specific character. None of this prevents you from completing the game or playing online, however, but it can be disheartening to pick up loot only to find out you can't use it at all."

That really sucks, puts me off wanting to get both versions now. I was going to get Advanced and maybe get standard later if I really liked the game.

It really just screams out for a demo with one character from each so that people would be less put off. I guess they got really worried putting out a $30 game, and may have screwed the pooch in the process.

Then again, if you are loving the game, and get loot for the other characters you may just buy it to use that loot? I dunno. I mean it isn't game breaking or prevent you from playing it with people who own the other version etc. It isn't ideal but I give them a good mark for trying something different, even if it doesn't work out.

I don't know, I'd be annoyed if I were grinding a mission, only to be rewarded with loot I can't equip because I didn't pay for both versions. I agree it was brave to try something different but they could have at least kept the loot limited to playable characters.

I don't really see this as an issue. Each character has their own traversal abilities. It makes it more interesting when each character can get to specific areas using their unique abilities. If you can't do ANYTHING with the loot from other characters, it might be annoying. Like selling it to buy gear for your character or something. But I guess this kind of design doesn't really bother me. If I do decide I want to try a new character, I'll have gear for them. If not, I'll still be getting gear for my character. If it were designed the opposite way, I'm sure some people would complain that they aren't getting any gear for the other character in the pack they bought.

Yeah, I don't see a problem with the loot mechanic (unless there's some kind of inventory limit). Just means you shouldn't have to grind as much when you start off with the other characters.

With the sale of 'Football Manager Touch 2019', Sega is trolling the release of its main competitor, 'New Star Manager'.

Just noticed that Fate/Extella Link on the Japanese eShop includes support for Japanese, English, Korean and Chinese.

https://ec.nintendo.com/JP/ja/titles/70010000010788

The original Extella also offered English, so I figured this port would too. As soon as I saw that English support was available, I pre-purchased it on the J-eShop. No idea why XSeed delayed the American release. The game was localized months ago, with Asian-region English versions for PS4 and Vita getting released.

The game came out yesterday and I've put a few hours into it- it's a fantastic port that runs very smoothly and looks great. Much closer to PS4 than the Vita port. Appears to be an almost rock-solid 30 FPS (am just guessing here- could be higher) at 720P handheld and 1080P docked. PS4 runs at 60 FPS and 4K, IIRC, but it really doesn't feel like that much of a downgrade. This is a great port!

How's Pool Panic? It had initially interested me, but I might finally bite now that it's like $5.

If the port runs well and doesn't have any significant technical problems then I may still pick it up at full price.

worth noting that the developer completely redesigned the control scheme to fit the Switch. the controller support is even better for Nintendo's system than it is for the PC version. This game is already worth $20 in its PC form, so it feels especially fair for the Nintendo. I can't emphasize enough how good this game is.
