Oh god, they're doing Doki Doki Literature Club. I REALLY hope they finish it. It takes like 3 hours to get to the weird stuff, which is 18 episodes :/
Yeah, there's pretty much no way the DDLC playthrough will end well. One GG session is 7 episodes, meaning they'll be 1/3 to the good stuff by the time the first episode is uploaded. There's no way Dan would avoid being spoiled at that point unless he went dark on all GG feedback, which he never does. There's also the fact interest and retention rate would likely dwindle with each episode because they're so short and people would just want to skip to when things start getting weird, which would be like episode 25 or something, but they wouldn't keep uploading if interest waned so they'd never get to that point.
It sucks because it's a really good game and I'd love to see Dan's reaction.

All this sort of talk has convinced me to play it myself, since it is free. There's no explicit spoilers on the store page (outside of reviews probably), but it does spoil the nature of "the good stuff," as I imagine that kinda has to be divulged.
I myself have no idea what exactly I'll be getting into, but the possibilities are... interesting.

Okay I started Doki Doki Literature Club and it's... good, actually. I'm not super far but I fucked up and got emotionally invested. Whatever is in store is gonna ruin me (rather, the fact I'm now acutely aware something of some sort may be in store is already ruining me)
Cosmicblizzard is right, it's gonna take the Grumps a while to get to any of the meat of this game. They should probably do 20+ minute episodes if they return to it after the first session.

I don't really understand the point or appeal of those kinds of "games" (I got bored so fast of that NormalBoots one that was making the rounds a while ago) but I enjoy how much fun Arin and Danny have with them.
Also, I can't believe Sonic is over? How was it so short? Only 18 episodes. Sonic '06 was over 40 episodes. (With about another 10 left to go if they'd continued)

Visual novels in general or just "joke" visual novels like the Normalboots one or that Llama dating one? If it's the former, it's just the halfway between novels and games that a lot of people like with tropes they like peppered in. If it's the latter, I guess people just find them funny? I've never really found any of the jokey ones super appealing either, but hey if people like them.
Whatever ones the Grumps and other YouTubers seem to find. I dunno. They don't seem like actual games at all. I dunno. I just don't get them, but enjoy Arin and Danny. It's the reason I couldn't get through ContinueQuest doing their series of that Normalboots one. I love Continue, but they just didn't make it as entertaining as the Grumps do. I'm sure the game was fine though. (And funny to think it was before JonTron outed himself as an ignorant dumbass.)
Basically I can watch them if it's the Grumps. Anyone else playing and it's just boring. Probably because of the voices and improvising.
I never did watch the Daddy Dating Simulator playthroughs. Were they any good? Everyone was raving about it but it wasn't the Grumps so I didn't bother at the time.
Sonic 06 was 108 episodes lol. Sonic's story was just over 40, but then they had Shadow and Silver, too.
I thought it was a lot more. But I went to the GameGrumps Wiki and it only stopped at 41 for some reason.

The additional content is basically secret levels, collecting all the Red Rings, then collecting the Moons that replace the Red Rings.
I'm probably going to brave through the DDLC playthrough just to see Dan's reaction, im not really enjoying it so far but my Steam is fuckin broken as shit so I don't think I'll be able to play it on my own anytime soon. Also Arin totally knows doesn't he

Arin likely knows, but he doesn't know specifics. His constant "oh, it'll happen soon" insinuating suggests to me he doesn't know when "it" happens. Things don't go down that route for another 3 hours, probably 4 for them considering they keep stopping to tell jokes. That's a lot longer than a single grump session. I'll be amazed if they've actually finished it by now and Dan hasn't been spoiled.

Okay, the Doki Doki play through is pretty good. At least as background noise. They're loving it so much and I really can't wait for whatever it is everyone's talking about.

Is it just me or did they do the exact same jokes about the Gloppie load screen in yesterdays episode as they did a few days ago, complete with Danny's reaction and Arin mentioning the corn looks like Pac-Man?

I wouldn't be surprised it happens, that happened over at Giant Bomb with Drew/Dan doing the same jokes through the metal gear solid playthrough.(The funny part is they said the same things 2 years apart lol)
Yeah, but it sounded like the exact same audio. Like the exact same jokes delivered the same exact way complete with Arin's corn/Pac-Man thing.
And the other episode would have been only a couple days ago.
Maybe the other episode was from when they thought they lost the audio and they forgot? Or maybe they actually reused the audio.
Later I might try and find the episode it was in before and compare them.

Not the same audio, but the same exact jokes. It must have been a huge time between them because they completely forgot they made the same jokes. Haha
EDIT2: Nothing to be alarmed about. Apparently Danny's fine, he's just had a really nasty flu, so Arin's had to record by himself.
Arin wrote a twitter thread today, and it sounds like he's going to be doing a bunch of solo stuff soon? Have they mentioned this on the show? (I haven't watched for several days due to finals.) He referenced a "situation" which makes me wonder if Danny's going in for surgery or something. (They've made a bunch of references to Danny talking to doctors and having medical bills.)

I guess so. I'm shocked people wanted it so bad to interrupt their traditional holiday themed week. At least the episodes will show up later, but seriously? I know something is about to happen (I haven't watched todays episode yet) but that's why it's called anticipation.
