Anyway, I'm playing Revelations 2 right now and it seems if focus on Kafka books more or less like the first game focused on the 'Divine Comedy'. With that in mind, which author/book do you guys think Rev 3 could focus on?

The Decameron seems like it would lend itself to a RE title.

A bunch of tales, tragic, virtuous, humourous and more told between a group trying to survive the Black Death.

Yeah, I remember comparing the pre- and post-drugged Jill's textures, and the blonde Jill is just BSAA Jill with recolored hairs. The whitened skin bit is just from some document.
To be honest, Jill was always kind of pale. Not sure why they added that bit there, probably as a reason to justify the hair dye lol.

I just happened to be browsing titles on Gamestop's website for sale stuff, and I noticed RE7 Gold Edition is $50 to pre-order, both physical and digital. I just happened to wonder and went to look at vanilla RE7 and it's cheap physical, but digital is still $60. How fucking stupid is that lol? The edition with the $30 season pass is $10 cheaper than the edition without it that came out almost a year ago. Digital pricing is so dumb.

Howard Phillips Lovecraft.

I don't know if that really fits with the others, but it'd probably be alright. The King in Yellow would probably be more line with the past three

I don't see Ellison's work being much of a fit for RE at all
You played the have no mouth game? You add some dropkicks and a few guns and an re game you have, and ellison directly worked on that game.

It'll be a little more abstract than re is used too, but re needs a little interesting twist and what better way to do so in a rev game?

You're talking about having him actually work on the game? I mean, I dunno, I have never played that game. I think they were talking more about the work the motif of the game would be based on, though

Na, though it would be pretty rad to have him work on it I imagine that's not going to happen lol

I mean more of a speculative horror fiction take on re. It'd be weird, but rev series is supposed to be an off take on the series anyways. Why not embrace something truly different and see what happens?

I think they've said at one point they plan to use the main series to experiment while leaving side projects to try and craft more 'traditional' styles and stories of RE. Which is ass backwards to what you would expect, but Capcom is weird.

Beat Revelations 2 on switch (beat it once before on PC). Enjoyed it a bit more this time. Guess because I knew more so what I was getting with it this time. It's still far away from being one of my favorites. But not as much disdain is hell towards it.

My biggest complaints would still be the budget and pacing. There's just way too many areas of down time or where things slow down and there isn't enough atmosphere due to the lack of budget to really carry it. Also still wish combat had a little more meat to it but that's neither here nor there.

So overall Rev 2 is still just an alright entry. Not bad. But doesn't too anything from the mainline. Gonna play Rev 1 now and see how I feel about that one now.

i like revelations 1, i guess when it came out, it was like going back to old school resident evil at a time where we didn't know which direction the RE franchise was headed.

I would love for them to use this design.

I wonder if Chris being in the new Umbrella might have something to do with Jill?
Jill kicking his ass while wearing that costume would be great.

Damn that costume is so damn good but it's also sad at the same time because the next time we see Jill she will probably have a long blonde hair and be wearing blue jeans.

Give me that suit but
517

top right or bottom middle headgear and hair.
As much as I like the beret, the bandana with headphones would be a darn unique look but still fit Jill(as long as it is blue).

Sure I'll buy weird looking Chris
I will buy it day 1, looks better than the last Chris statue that was based on a better design
gimme a Jill though
(The one from that line was a bit better but not great)

That concept art page is great and everything there is probably better than what we will get the next time we see Jill.

She definitely looks better than in game Jill. I hope they change her face again because the one they gave her in Revelations really sucked.

I am curious if they'll keep Jill blonde or not. I'm guessing now she is no longer 'bad' they'll ditch the blonde.

Wonder if they'll ever release info about earlier RE5 versions where blonde Jill was playable, even in BSAA gear. So much of the game was cut or changed and so little is public.

I love RE5 too, it really hard to say what would have been better, it a shame a lot of ideas got dropped rather than reworked, the flashbacks should have been left in as separate playable chapters if the lacking co-op was a problem. Jill ended up up in the game for like 10 minutes only after those were cut.

I mean if that's what you like. For me 4,5,6 are really bad RE games. I hope remake 2 is nothing like that. RE7 was a step in the right direction IMO. Loved it! But 4 was a good TPS but not a RE game. 5 & 6 were really bad IMO.

True, technically hard to say but
1. More normal Jill
2. Jill not getting shafted by Sheva using the RPG
3. Wesker being finally killed in the volcano not by RPGs but Chris, Jill and Sheva in a freaking fighter jet

Makes a pretty strong case personally.

That's the storyboarded version the RE5 art book showed, but that was still a pretty early version, between that and the released product was a whole other version that used parts found in both plus a bunch of stuff just cut completely. Were several Jill focused flashbacks
- one a much longer version of Lost in Nightmares
- one in which Jill tries to break free of Wesker, tips off the BSAA (the reason Chris goes looking in the first place) and ends with her receiving the P30 device (two areas from what have seen of this are from Desperate Escape so it may have been reused after was cut to create DE)
- one as the plague doctor in the starter town but know nothing else, don't think this actually got past planning base on known info.
- one other but don't know anything about it except it happened middle-later half of game, at least using the released game's timeframes.

Yeah but the gist of what I've gathered from the Rev series is that it tells those classic style re tales using new design directions to create a contrast that is both unique and familiar at the same time. Thus why I think doing an off the wall speculative horror game in a Rev style would be really cool and fit that mold of classic feel while new thematic presentation.

Has this been posted here?. This is from Dusk Golem.

I really probably shouldn't say this, but there's a Leon and Claire campaign in REmake 2. There even originally was going to be an A/B scenario like the original but last I heard it was scrapped due to them being behind schedule (but last I heard there was still a lot of features being brought in and out so it's not impossible that it came back, but unlikely since it was for deciding to focus development time on the two campaigns to flesh out and make people's first run fulfilling rather than the B scenarios for replay which, maybe not a surprise to many, are secondary if they had the time and budget for it. But as they've been behind schedule until very recently due to a few things they chose to drop that aspect last I heard to up the overall time/quality for the campaigns themselves)."

Me personally I don't really care what they do with it as long as they don't half ass it one way or the other in order to appease people.

If you're gonna make it a remake of RE2, do that. If you're going to reimagine it into something else, do that. Walking both roads is just a recipe either for disaster or a mediocre rendition of both.

What I loved about RE7 is that it didn't try to please anyone. It came in with the design focus of making a resident evil game that was in the first person with VR, and designed everything around that. It may have its faults, but it wasn't a lack of focus.

the only think i would like in Re2 is to allow claire to use Leon's weapons. I hated clair's campaign for the sole reason Leon gets these cool upgrades with a dope destroy your ears shotgun while claire got a wack crossbow.

I'm all for that to be honest if they can still give a good package remake that is along the same lines as the first REmake did.
It's crazy to think we will see this in good time and how quick it will be.

When you bring it up that way it sounds like we won't even get four campaigns.

There you go. Knowing the amount of production value and main quality standards that modern Capcom puts in RE titles (especially after Resi 5), it would be insane seeing them expanding the two original campaigns while working on two different paths. People don't tend to realize, but games aren't cheap. And we are talking about modern AAA titles.

Although, i'm glad to see the positive reactions here. I agree, it's better to focus on building a cohesive and more robust campaign, selecting the best parts of each scenarion and crafting the "definitive" version of the canon inside RE2. I was very surprised on the beginning of the year while playing the original Resident Evil 2, there's a huge chunk of content/material inside the A and B paths. I adore Claire A + Leon B, going back on the other side directly on the police station, seeing the chpper being shot down and facing Mr. X, it's just incredible. I can't say enough good things about seeing Claire's progress while facing new things and encountering new characters as well.

Thinking about it in retrospect, it blows my mind to know how much care and atention they put into the classic Resi 2. It's a amazing title even for today's standards, simply one of the best.

I really like the different scenarios, so I don't like that they may not being doing that in the remake, it's a big part of RE2.

Finished Revelations 1 (last time I played it was around the 360/PS3 release). A lot of my complaints from then still remain. Though I noticed playing on easy eliminates one of them.
On easy, scanning isn't even needed. I was always pretty good on ammo and herbs outside the one area where the timer is going. But I got my resources back up pretty quick. Though knowing what I can run past probably helped as well (beat the game under 4 hours without even trying).

Back to the complaints though. The Zenobia just isn't interesting outside a few spots like the main hub. So running around back and forth just feels like a cheap ploy to give back to fans who don't like how linear 5 was (though Rev 1 is basically just as Linear A lot of the time). Outside of that it's not scary at all and really holds no atmosphere outside the very last area. This is probably due to being a 3DS title. But it sticks out all the same. Being neither a good action of horror game just ruins it.

Going back to Rev 2 which I finished earlier. The same complaint holds on that as well. Neither of these titles are bad. But they still feel like cheap half measures to try and unify the fan base before RE7 happened. It's a large reason why when I rank my mainline (1-7 with R1,R2, and CVX). The rev games still hang out near the bottom.

There might be a lot of stuff I don't like about 7. But I can appreciate that it kept with its idea of being a scary game and having atmosphere (maybe not 100% but far more than the Rev games attmepted).

I will say though. Playing 7, Rev 1, and Rev 2 this year. Has me missing the better action mechanics. Especially in Rev 2 where I wished there was better enemies and mechanics for combat. I really hope Not a Hero next week scratches my itch for action until whatever is next.

God I hope RE2make has mercenaries
