Is it worth $24? I got it on the price glitch Sunday, but I haven't opened it up yet. Debating to keep or return...

You know, it blows my mind that DICE or whoever you want to blame STILL cannot properly backfill a running game with players. This was my #1 reason to quit playing the last game, and I was hesitant about getting SWBF2 because of it. I mean, you would be wondering why you're getting steamrolled in Supremacy or whatever, and look up at the scoreboard and sure enough, it was your 3 guys against their 19.

Just happened again. Wondering why we're getting pushed around. It's 10 vs 19. At the end of the game, where it's had plenty of time to find fillers. Getting this shit more frequently as well as the atrocious lag on 2 different platforms. I take it the powers that be (whoever we blame for this) is silent as usual, eh?

The fucking servers in this game are atrocious. If 90% of the world did their job half as bad as the inept people that run this show we'd all be jobless. I would literally move forward 10 feet and get skipped back 15 at times. I didn't have much time to play tonight but between the lag and fact that it takes fucking forever to leave one server and join another I might as well have never even tried.

I think part of the problem is that it stealth changes the data centre you connect to between maps.

Last night, like always, when I logged in I checked that was set to Australia before starting GA, which I was. But after a couple of maps I noticed that the players connecting were had predominantly Japanese PSN names and I was also encountering high-ping behaviour, like doing a complete combat roll then being pulled back to my starting position because I'd apparently been sniped and killed before I'd started the roll.

I went to the EA Account menu after the round finished and, sure enough, I was now connected to the 'ping site' in Japan (212ms) instead of Australia (69-75ms). Its super annoying and there appears to be no way to force it to stick with the closest site. You need to quit to the main menu and force back to what you want.

I really don't get it, this was a problem when Battlefront 2015 launched and they patched in the setting to force a server region but they seem to be changing it on the fly regardless of what the player chooses. Lack of servers? Low player counts?

What drives me insane is a match will be 12 vs 16 and for some reason new players get added to the team with 16 first. They're winning, they have more players and you decide to give them a bigger advantage? Thanks for that.

Yep. My question is, is this the same DICE that works on Battlefield, and if so, do those games have the same issues? I mean for real, its like they only care about making the game LOOK and sound good, not play well. And for 2 games now. Amazing.

Want to trade game (I like it, but it has too many problems right now, so I don't mind coming back when they are fixed), but the Last Jedi content has me on edge. Lord knows I shouldn't even get hyped about the new maps because I'll never get in those by the rate I'm going (Is like Tatooine and Takodana 24/7 with me) but I am interested in the campaign missions.

So the game apparently has a glitch where the audio just straight up cuts out and stops working until you reset it. Neat.

Also I love that if you're on a server with even a little bit of lag, the Starfighter component of GA matches is rendered almost entirely nonfunctional. Like it's literally unplayable, shots don't register, ships rubberbanding through the sky, it's really quite impressive. Looks like an indie studio's first attempt at a multiplayer netcode.

GA Starfighter lag essentially becomes fly in a circle and hope no one else spawns to force you near the Kashyyk trees.

I have come to the conclusion that it is entirely legitimate to hang back as a hero/villain on GA and play it safe. People have absolutely no concept of teamwork in this game. Why run in and play the objective if your boys aren't going in with you.

Funnily enough, I just got off the longest and best GA seating I've had in the game. My team was killing it for both offense and defense on 4 maps, not to mention it was my own best performance thus far.

Just goes to show how far you can go if you're lucky enough to be placed with 20 very competent people.

I've had a few of those games now and then, but my former experience is too frequent. But, I guess that's the nature of the game. Battlefront has always been more of a casual shooter than other games. And thanks to DICE, the last game was pretty much coin-op level arcade casual.

Guess my choices are either accept the casual, or git gud and go play WW2.

Just kidding. But I would be taking my own advice, I think. I just wish I could get more of my gaming bros to give the game a chance. What makes it good, makes it great. And what makes it bad, makes it infuriating.

I got a Love/Hate relationship with this thing

Despite all the problems this game has such as laggy servers, matchmaking, balance issues, progression system, i'm so impressed with this game due the fact that the core gameplay is absolutely fantastic fun.

Had one of those last night. First time I've been on a team that could shut out in the first phase consistently.

^Personally feel like the gameplay is a little stiff in certain areas, but it is fun. Hoping the Crait map is well designed as I feel that is an issue in GA (Hoth and Tatooine in particular).

Exactly. Me and some other dude were clearing out the control rooms on Naboo as heroes, took ages for someone to come in and start capping.

I spawned as Palpatine 2 times to cap the throne room, literally force them back in their spawn. Guess what? 6 specialists on the stairs and heavies standing in the doorways.

Me and that other guy ended at 80+ kills and we couldn't even carry that.

I don't know how to get 50 kills with the Specialist with that first gun... it's really weaksauce and I'm always getting counter-snipe-one-shotted by guys with the top tier Specialist rifle :(

Yeah, those starter guns are basically tossing spitballs.

My advice? Steal kills. It's cheap and makes people mad at you, but it might be your best bet. Worked for me.

Specialist is shit-tier anyways. I gave up on him yesterday. No fun to play and feels way too weak overall. On the other side I am happy that he is so weak because I hate snipers. Only played him for some challenges and the headshot-trophy.

I would have died 3 times in that situation because everybody would just focus-shoot me immediately. You didn't even lose 1/3 of your health, lol.

I've been grinding the Specialist to unlock the burst mod for the A280-CFE and its been painful. The default single shot gets easily out-sniped by Officers with Blurrgs and S-5's, and its optimal mid-range leaves you open to being mown down by Assaults and Heavies.

I finally unlocked the burst mod last night and took it for a spin in Arcade before shutting down. Seems like a massive upgrade to what would otherwise be an utterly trash gun and I can't wait to try it out tonight in GA.

I think the biggest problem with the Specialist is the lack of HP. Its fine when you're 1000 miles away sniping with your NT-242 but I prefer to play more aggressively.

What I did find interesting though was a loading screen tooltip that said Specialists regen health the fastest of all the classes, and Heavies the slowest. I mean, if regen is a flat rate, that's obvious (100 HP vs 200 HP) but it could imply a shorter regen delay perhaps?

I want my loot box!!!!

Also how do you even track kills for that thing? Doing the ten minutes of each class yesterday was a nightmare XD

Easily the worst gun in the game for me without that attachment. Getting 250 kills with it for the challenge was painful, so glad I'm done with it.

You guys are in my mind!

I've been grinding the A280-CFE to get the burst mod, and I'm frustrated as heck. This is gonna take me a week.

I've been playing the smaller modes to help speed things along. Blast was rough going, so I switched over to Strike hoping to get the drop on players preoccupied with securing the objective. Still slow going though.

I do go for headshots when I can, but have trouble with them when the enemy is aware of me.

Ashamed to admit this, but I've been trying to join in others' battles hoping to killsteal as well.

Any advice to get grind those 150 kills quicker? I may just need to suffer through it.

I want to keep at it, because I'm hoping that gun with burst will help me be a little more aggressive in smaller maps and at closer range.

How could Hoth be so great in the last game yet be so terrible in this one?? In general, it feels like the maps are just so much more congested with choke point after choke point everywhere and tons of narrow paths to funnel players down.

It's not like the maps in the last game were particularly phenomenal, but sometimes I find myself missing them while I play these.

I miss the old maps all the time for the reasons you listed, plus I think the old maps nailed the charm of SW better too.

The reason there are so many choke points in the maps in this game is that the maps with the most choke points in the last game were usually the most popular. The maps which spread everyone out weren't usually as intense. If you played the last game a lot you'll know which maps everyone gravitated towards and it was always the ones that funnelled players the most. Thats why the maps in this game are so much better in my opinion. People are still getting used to them and how the gameplay makes the most of their layout but I still feel the maps in this game are way more consistently better and interesting. The Endor map where the rebels have to steal the AT-At is, with good teams of players, one of the best multiplayer experiences I've ever had, both visually and in the fun of the gameplay. The first game doesn't even come close. Ever.

My only major criticism of the game at the moment is the unlocking of the hero's. Its so crewed up and I'm surprised they went with this particular design. Only the best players can become hero's. I'm reasonably good at the game. I'm now rank 22 and I average around 20 or so kills per game. Not great but not bad either. I've unlocked Kylo Ren, one of the lowest unlocked hero's exactly once in all my time of playing. Once you save up enough points, which may take about three quarters of an average game for me, its then a matter of luck whether someone else has grabbed him when I'm spawning in. Its such a goofed system. The problem is if they then reduce the points needed to unlock them then the place then becomes filled with hero's and it becomes no fun for the other players as its just a massacre. The random pick ups for the hero's might have been clunky in the last game, but it worked.

The amount of pop-in at times, yikes.

It's such a shame that you can't get more out of the default guns. Most authentic and they sound amazing (imperial officer blaster, all assault basics, the first order sniper etc.)

I fucking hate night Kashyyyk with passion. Can't see shit and I get it every 2 or 3 games lol

Kashyyyk is great in the nighttime, just because visually it looks amazing. I don't like the early part of that map, its too spread out, but once it funnels the players into attacking the two battle tanks and then the battle for the base at the end its great.

The only 2 maps I'm really not fond of are Star Killer Base and Yavin 4, particularly the latter. all the rest I'm quite happy on

So many of the maps I'm still marvelling at. I'd love to see a design diagram of the Jakku map. Its just insane.

Eh. I don't think the lootboxes hurt the game much. I've been playing casually since it came out and I feel like I've made a lot of progress, and anything I've deemed really important to upgrade (e.g., the bounty hunter card) I've been able to upgrade directly with the crafting parts I've earned. It hasn't been a grind at all. I'm just playing a game or two when I feel like it and I've made meaningful progress -- My heavy trooper is level 20 with level three and four star cards in all slots and all guns unlocked. Again -- Not grinding, just playing casually.

BTW, does anyone find the heavy's barrage card to be useful? It seems weak, and probably not worth giving up the shield, but I like the idea of it.

The Emperor Palpatine is fucking strong. Damn, I have not noticed this before. Last night someone took 76 kill with the character. He even kills it from behind the walls, the cards make a big difference I guess. That's super cool.

Gotta agree it looks fucking amazing, but it's too dark in my opinion. Maybe it's my TV configuration but I cannot properly see the enemy silhouette and I usually get shot from fucking everywhere lol

Map ranking time? Map ranking time:

1. Endor
2. Tatooine / Death Star II / Kamino
3. Jakku (it would be higher if it wasn't for that last capture point) / Yavin 4 / Starkiller Base / Kashyyyk
4. Naboo / Takodana / Hoth

Agree with this. Lootboxes are kinda interesting (don't kill me for this statement). I can craft the cards i want, so basically you can upgrade what you want. I think that the backlash for this lootcrate debacle was justified, but way overblown at the end. Cards only make a marginal difference on the Battlefield imo, a skilled player who knows the maps and moves well on the field will always beat a noob with the best upgrades attached.
That said they should reward more the good players and the winner side.

The backlash from MTX/Lootboxes/Progression system has hurt the game a lot both in terms of sales and "reputation". I know many people that has decided not to pick it up because of it.

Man, lootboxes are so rigged. It ain't even funny.

Everytime I near an emote or victory pose milestone for a character it suddenly appears in a lootbox (and I never got anything for that character before) and it's always the one that I am close to unlocking (thus making the reward redundant).

Why do they even bother forcing you to have to go back to the main menu to have you claim rewards and stuff. The loading times are too long for this crap.
