I have no idea, but at least it gives this site a beautiful dark mode, with green tints and logo. :)
Thing is, I use the actual dark mode, and it inverts it into light mode with green tints.

And since I partially made the actual dark mode, I am literally killing my baby.

Is it just me or is video calling always poor, quality wise? FaceTime or Duo never give a crisp, clear video feed. It's always at least a little grainy.

Always. Wifi, mobile data, whatever. It's always.

Watch videos in the correct aspect ratio and the notch doesn't get in the way.

Apple give us more usable screen and people still complain. The other phones would just black out the entire top of the screen and have the status bar under that and have an even smaller screen.

I am....?

Wait, did you assume I only watch 16:9 content?Wider content looks stupid with both pillar boxing and letter boxing.

I swear, the reverence some of you folks have for Apple is something else. I dont even hate my X. I just don't think its God's gift from heaven.

Hey! Still mightily enjoying the X.

Although I have Apple Care+ and the naked X looks and feels gorgeous, I am still looking for the perfect case (for me), especially because of the protruding camera.

Have the Apple leather case (nice, but much too thick for me) and a couple of cheap silicon/tpu cases but none of them feels good enough.

Now I am looking for a very thin,
clear, soft case, that doesn't have a "protective lid" at the front. Meaning: no protruding edge to protect the front screen.

Any recommendations?
Cheers

Honestly, why have a case at all if you don't want the protective lip? Not trying to be snarky, just an honest question.

The lip might really save your phone if it lands face flat.
Im using a clear back case with a black border by spigen though.
I think they have a all clear one too.

Might as well just get a Dbrand skin for it.

Thanks Kimchi_Breath and Deadass
I understand - and for the first weeks my lip-cases gave me that secure feeling I wanted and needed.
But in my opinion the lip - even those really low ones that probably won't protect that much - has quite an enormous effect on the overall look and feel - gestures work with lips, but feel so much better without.

A case for the backside is necessary for me, because I hate having to be extra careful while putting down my phone, so that the glas on the back doesn't get scratched. And the camera - I like my phone to lie flat.
If I let it fall and the front breaks, it's time for Apple Care. Hope to avoid that, but through discipline and not an (imho) ugly and disturbing lip. (Uh I'm so gonna regret this sentence when the front breaks..).

Camoxide: gonna check those out. Read about them here and there but in Germany it is not as well known brand.

I have the official Apple leather case for my iPhone X. When I go running I like to take the case off so I don't sweat on the case itself, but every single time I take it off I always end up taking a screenshot. The exact same thing happens when I put it back on. Does anyone else have this problem? The button combination is just strange to me.

There's even some instances where I accidentally take a screenshot even with my case on because I'm trying to reach for the power button to wake up the screen while I'm homding my phone with my left hand.

I understand why the combination exist, but it's starting to get annoying.
Yeah this is very much the case with me as well. It's what happens when the screenshot buttons are both oriented in the same axis now, the chances of accidental screenshots are just much higher. Same happens with the Apple Watch.

Just something to learn to live with (and occasionally do a cleaning) I guess.

So I've been looking for a dedicated movie player now that I've shifted my entire library from my S8 (so glad I opted for 256gb, forgot how much anime I had in my backlog)

Tried a bunch but Infuse 5 (https://firecore.com/) seems to be the best. Automatic cover/synopsis scraping and subtitle downloads has been great. They recently pushed out an update for the X that allows HDR playback. Only tried it with one video from 4kmedia.org but it seems to work pretty well!

Now I just need to figure out how to rip Bluray discs with HDR intact :S

Dropped my X onto tile from about chest high.

Apple's leather case saved me. *phew*
Not a mark on it.

Jesus. I'd probably lose 10 years of my life if that ever happened to me. Glad your phone survived!

This is unnecessary.

My apologies, I did not mean to offend. Feel free to delete the post (or hit me up with a warning/ban) if you find it excessive.

Is sending media just awful for anyone else in iMessage in 11? I tap it to press send and the picture just disappears and I have to force close the app to send anything. it's annoying since I send a lot of pics every day.

I can honestly say I have not had this happen, and no one in my life that uses an iPhone has told me this is a thing

Anyone on AT&T here? They just turned on "stream saver" for my account, and when I attempt to turn it off I get an error message saying they can't. CS has been lying to me for 30 minutes, first I was told it was a bug, then I was told my plan doesn't support it, then a supervisor came on and told me it DOES support it and it can't be disabled. I'm on a grandfathered unlimited plan, paying nearly $100 a month. 480p video on the iPhone X OLED is NOT a feature.

Things continue to get worse for Apple software this year, now a HomeKit vulnerability and yet another upcoming emergency iOS release.

Zero-day iOS HomeKit vulnerability allowed remote access to smart accessories including locks, fix rolling out
"The vulnerability required at least one iPhone or iPad on iOS 11.2, connected to the HomeKit user's iCloud account; earlier versions of iOS were not affected."
Seems like an extremely niche case but good that it is (getting) fixed.

I was vulnerable as hell. This sucks because 11.2 actually fixed the issues I WAS having with HomeKit automations. This better not re-break them

These gestures are incredibly simple to get used to. The fact that there's no home button at all just helps with the adjustment process, you're not even tempted to use them. I was expecting an adjustment period, but i've been using it pretty much flawlessly since I got it. I'm impressed.

Is there a consensus good clear, thin case without branding? More looking for something for when I sat my phone down I don't feel antsy about little scratches and knicks.

Yeah the gestures just work flawlessly don't they. I find when I am using my wife's iPhone 6 it's just crazy how little I miss the home button. And works so much better than the galaxy s8+ way of working.

Unfortunately your are at the mercy of AT&T with that grandfathered unlimited data plan. I have the new one and I can active and deactivate the stream saver without any issues. Keep in mind that when you do turn it off from your account, you may have to restart your phone for you to see the change.

Peel cases. I have one. They don't have clear, but on my silver X i have the silver case. It's basically white opaque. Can see the Apple logo through it.

Won't protect against huge drops, but keeps the back from getting all scratched up.

What iOS version do new US iPhone X phones currently come with? iOS 11/11.1 or 11.2 already? I would like my new iPhone X to stay on iOS 11.1.2.
And if it's lower than 11.2, does the phone force you to update?
