I'm on PS4. I'm just so, so rusty. I need to ease myself into things before I try anything too taxing. Will my gear score be high enough to take on dailies etc...? I don't mind matchmaking for stuff as that was half the fun during my initial play-time last year.

You can adjust your world tier to keep the enemies around your gear score for now - but you do want to challenge yourself a bit and have a great chance for higher level gear. You should absolutely matchmake - that's half the fun.
As far as your perks go - i'm on xbox but i assume it's the same - use L1 and R1 and your special L1+R1.
Have you found a loadout that you like? What play style are you with this character?

Downloading now, going to give this a shot over the free weekend on Xbox. I'm digging Ubisoft's style right now, really enjoying their games, so why not?

I've heard exciting rumours that there's just a ridiculous amount of content here. Even that a mainly solo player like myself could easily hit the 100 hour mark. Is this what I've got to look forward too, or have I been led astray?

There are easily 100 hours of content if you're new.

Ah yes of course it's L1 and R1. It's all coming back to me.

To be honest I've not even touched on the loadouts yet. Another new feature I've yet to use. I'm looking at a support build and then maybe a DZ specific one but like I said I've only had around and hour back with the game so it's gonna be a very slow reacquaintance.

Seriously tempted to pick this up while it's on sale.

Would mostly be playing solo in all honesty, unless I feel I need to matchmake with randoms. Still worth my time? Will I need the DLC or am I good to go with the base game?

So I downloaded the trial on PS4, and in the past hour, I've been getting lots of graphical bugs, and I'm not sure if its just me, or the game?

-Textures sometimes take a while to pop into existence.
-My characters face in a cutscene was making this really weird "smooching" face for the entire cutscene. It was fucked.
-2 NPC medics popped into existence into a cutscene after like 5 seconds.
-The same 2 NPC's had like an extra NPC inside them.

That was only like an hour in. Is this normal?

Bonus question: if I want DLC, should I buy all 3? ie. get the season pass? Or is only 1 or 2 of them worth it?

Run repeatable missions, up the difficulty, once you start unlocking world tiers, go up to the next one. You're looking for high-end gear (yellow), which are drops off mobs but with a few buyable from your base from the advanced gear vendor in the security wing (he's in a equipment cage).

It used to be the good gear could only be bought or won out of the dark zone. Now good stuff are daily rewards for doing missions and drops off mobs at times. In short, don't be afraid to push the difficulty.

I'm loving the 6 piece striker classified with Big Alejandro. Those poor Hunters in the underground didn't stand a chance.

The game is pretty overwhelming for someone who hasn't really played since the launch window.

Jumped back in while I was stoned on Codeine earlier and though I had little idea what was going on I was glad to be back in the game. Despite the many issues I have with it, it's a solid game and fun to play. I'm half tempted to pick up the Xbone version if its noticeably prettier on X, since most of my RL friends who played have moved on.

Are Global Events tied to owning the DLCs? I saw a GE room in the downstairs area in the base of operations, but it said it was offline.

What's the best way to farm Division Tech (to do Gear Optimizations)? I ran around the DZ last night but only managed one successful extraction due to Rogues.

You seem to get 3 Division Tech per side event in the Piers. The little side events are constantly popping up. It would be more efficient to do it with at least one other player however.

I always liked the Underground to a certain extent but they have made some real worthwhile changes for 1.8 so I'd say yeah, get it definitely. It adds another quality PvE option.

I had 3 player vs 4 Hunter intense encounter last night in the Underground which was great fun.

DAMN YOU ERA!!!!! I had this game on PS4(still do) and played it back in release but got bored of it once I hit cap.. Fast forward to today reading this thread and seeing the Gold edition on sale for XboxOne and blamm 24.90 spent(5 dollar gift card) and installing it on my XoneX now.

That changed recently, some are now tied to Commendation (viewable in the Dossier), some are tied to global event commendations and some are generic commendations to complete.

The next global event starts on the 12th according to State of the Game today.

Ran a solo 3 phase, challenging underground mission last night with all directives on and it was an absolute blast. The new directives are brilliant and in every phase 2 hunters spawned. Completely took me by surprise because I thought they only spawned in once during a mission in the UG, not possible on every phase. Man that was intense.

Farmed a load of division tech last night too, a hour or 2 in the DZ and netted over 100. Don't forget that purple and yellow caches also give dtech, myself and 2 others just farmed all the weapons caches dotted around and it soon racked up. A lot of the dtech boxes were empty so if you can live with extracting then going for caches is quicker. Plus then there's also the bonus dtech from deconstructing a lot of the stuff you receive from the caches.

Need, no. But each does offer different experiences and opportunities to earn loot and cash. IMO they're all worthwhile in their own way but I wouldn't say they're essential

Global event 3 info from Reddit.

Global Event 3 - Strike
  • Starts next Tuesday (December 12th)
  • Classified Sets: Nomad, Predator, D3-FNC, Banshee
  • There will be new masks that are tied to Commendations
  • There will be new Global Event specific Commendations
  • Vanity Sets and Weapon Skins can be unlocked on the leaderboards
Global Event 3 - Strike Modifiers:

Handle With Care - Always active; enemies explode after a delay when killed.

Pre-emptive Strike - Strike behavior, plus too much damage triggers a small explosion on the Agent.

Tactical Strike - Pre-emptive Strike behavior, plus Strike explosions mark nearby enemies. Marked enemy kills damage all enemies. Ally to ally explosion damage is increased.

For those bothered about Incursions, some are part of the DLC. Underground comes with Dragons Nest and Last Stand comes with Stolen Signal. Falcon Lost and Clear Sky were part of free updates during year one.

This used to be pretty meaningful as there was a time when specific gear was obtained from certain Incursions but this is no longer the case so it's optional if you want the paid DLCs for access to the Incursions just purely for more content.
