I'll say this:

Horizon 2 releasing late 2019/early 2020. They ain't gonna let another Nintendo heavyweight stop it next time. They're already on it lol. Shit, Mario even got stopped.

Sad this didn't come away with any awards but it remains the best game I've ever played. Still need to finish The Frozen Wilds too!

You know, I've been thinking that is possible, but Sony now know they have a legit franchise with HZD, so I fully expect them to hold release for a major holiday. Late 2019 makes a lot of sense. It was released Feb 2017 so hoilday 2019 gives it a 2.5 year dev cycle. GG have been on a hiring spree too, so with crunch 2.5 years definitely seems possible.

Realistically, I think summer or holiday 2020. Even a 3 year cycle lets them polish so much and craft a better story.

The Game Awards were wrong. Hzd not winning anything is just a travesty.

Despite the attempt make them big time, I still see all incarnations of The Game Awards as a bit of a joke. Especially when we rattle off multiple awards without a presentation or anything.

I hope Horizon gets its fair shake from major outlets during GotY. It did so many things so we'll, especially for a brand new IP and it deserves actual recognition.

Given we won't have a Mario or a Zelda stopping Horizon then, given they can use what Zelda's done to their advantage along with some of the negatives people had for Horizon, yeah, they'll clean up NICELY once that hits.

What were these adjudicators thinking?

In what world does a breathtaking accomplishment like Horizon Zero Dawn take away no awards?

Why the hell are people throwing tantrums over this? It's one thing to care whether Horizon wins any GDC, DICE or BAFTA awards but TGAs? Who cares? One of their awards was sponsored by McCafe FFS.

This is probably a dumb question, pretty sure the answer is no. Is there a way to force a checkpoint to happen second time? Doing prep for a second try at an encounter, after figure out what you need from the first, only to have to redo that prep for all future tries at the encounter, SUCKS.

I don't mind horizon doesn't win award. It is the way jury or reviewer looks at this game. From what I see, most of the conversation is compared to certain game, and horizon is seen as this looks nice but standard AAA big budget, interesting but forgettable.
I would like horizon to be seen as Nier, that they view certain game is a better game, but nier is really distinct.

Sorry for the gibberish....;)

Six nominations and not a single win, something is up.
Mhm, majority of judges at VGAs thought it's not worthy enough to win awards compared to competitors. That's all there is to it guys, no agendas, or anything I'm sure horizon will win some awards from other places.

The ones where there's no awards for technical achievements!

Anyway, It's a bummer that Horizon hasn't won anything at TGA, but let's not turn the OT in a salt mine because of it. 2017 has been a year full of incredible games, some of which didn't even get nominated (see: Gravity Rush 2 for Art Direction and Soundtrack). Be positive and look forward to Guerrilla Games' next effort and another year of great games!

RESETERA's 2017 Game of the Year is still on the horizon ;)

I understand the move towards artistic/creative awards, but tech categories shouldn't disappear - even if they're not broadcast. Still, it's a tough year with so many stand-out titles.

Also, SunhiLegend would have been a good candidate for "Trending Gamer" award this year, rather than streamer-winning-online-vote (which could be its own award if they want to). This award still needs some work.

Yeah there's no reason to really care about lack of awards. Doesn't change it being my game of the generation so far.

The game sold very well and will definitely get a sequel and that's all that really matters reception wise.

I think it's sort of a 2nd best in all categories type of thing. Every category there was an award for had games that focused on that category and did it arguably better than Horizon, but didn't match up to it in any other category. As an overall experience it shines though, being high quality in every category, which made me think if it was going to win any award, it'd be GOTY. Zelda kinda had that on lock though.

Frozen Wilds is GOTY for me, it's kinda crazy how much better I like it. The base game was a 7.5 for me, but this is easily a 9+.

Where do you get a Fireclaw heart? I've been playing for ages and never seen one.

Make sure you have the skill unlocked that increases the chances of getting rare items from machines.

All Lens and hearts are acquired from killing the respective machines. You can purchase some from a special vendor in Meridian.

Yeah, as in, I don't remember ever fighting a Fireclaw and I'm onto the last mission basically.

Soon...

I'm playing through Horizon for the first time right now. As I understand it. all of the content in Frozen Wilds is interwoven into the base game, so I can get all of the skills/weapons and such and take them into Zero Dawn. My question is, is there a good time to start the DLC in terms of story? Will it mess up the pacing if I jump into it right away or too late? I'm pretty early into the game. I just
became the seeker.

I would like the new weapons and such but I'm nervous if I go to the DLC too quickly it will spoil parts of the main story or won't make any sense until I complete the base game, etc.

Not really, it's pretty well interwoven. Dialog changes dynamically depending on what you "know" from the base game, but you can't really "miss" stuff by going in too early - you can always go back to the TFW area and you'll get the new interactions later. Gotta warn you the encounters in the DLC are cut quite a bit harder than the main game, though, so it can get pretty tough if you jump in too early.

As for ideal point to jump in, IMO... it's hard to tell you without spoiling some stuff, but there's a pivotal point right around the middle of the game that is a pretty good spot. You'll know it when you get there.

In terms of story, earliest I would like to go there after visiting the biggest city NPC talking about and do some quests from that city. There will be hints about DLC in later main quest after quests involving the city. If you were early in main story, Aloy would be confused by the story reveal from dlc, if you were late. Aloy would be more clear about what is going on in the Frozen wilds and explain some stuff to NPC there. You can always go back to dlc area after finishing it to get some more lore from someone as you are doing base game main quests and getting reveals later. But in the main quest there are certain points that situation are urgent and not appropriate to do side stuff.

In terms of game play, for dealing with the difficulty of DLC, you are probably very deep into main quest (recommended level is 30, but I would say level 50 doesn't make it a cake walk at all).

Sorry for making this seems confusing, I feel any time is good as long as you feel Aloy is not in hurry to do something else and have all the weapons you like at purple level ....

Got my copy of the CE in yesterday and just watched the prologue. Very promising so far ;D
However, my Pro drive is loud as hell. It's the first retail copy of a game I ever played on any PS4. Does it install the disc in the background? Back says 49GB minimum but it only installed 16GB + a 300MB patch from what I've seen when I inserted the disc. I just hope it gets less noisy over time, this is annoying

Dodging spoilers in here but i have a question: I bought HZD when it came out earlier this year, platinumed it and sold my copy. If i buy the Complete Edition, will my savefile from the OG game work with that version? I remember back in the PS3 days when i bought Burnout Paradise "complete edition" after selling my original copy and i had to restart from scratch.

According to Guerilla's own FAQ it'll work as long as both games are from the same region.
