1. I thought Mike Gravel was dead and 2. That account doesn't have a check mark. Is it actually him?

Damn, I hadn't even thought of a Biden Abrams ticket. I'd say that's a pretty good ticket. Honestly maybe better than Harris/Beto or vice versa.

A Biden/Abrams ticket would completely crush the south and just about everywhere else.

I'm not even sure how you'd mount an effective campaign against those two, if they ran as a joint ticket out of the gate.

GILLUM MAH MANNNNNNNNNNN

Gwinnett County (Atlanta suburb) rejected the mass transit expansion referendum yesterday and I guess I'm going to have to get used to spending 15+ hours a week in my car commuting.
Fuck.
I read an article about that yesterday. Fuck NIMBYism.
Who was Florida's last D governor?

I'm not understanding this idea that Florida was a winnable race outside of demographics which, well, we've seen the panhandle outperform multiple times now.

As much as we joke it seems like Beto has actually pivoted, at least on the surface. He's running left of center, or at the very least left of Biden/Obama.

I haven't seen him pivot. He's saying the same things he did when he ran in Texas, running on progressive policies and social stances. It seems like people are just starting to get a better idea of who he is.

Abrams also helped Dems gain 11 seats in the house and 12 in the Senate.
Underrated aspect of the elections tbh.

Georgia and Texas Dems are actually pretty close to claiming at least one state legislative chamber each, which would have huge ramifications for redistricting, Medicaid expansion, abortion laws etc.

Which is why it's doubly frustrating that Dems didn't do better in Florida. They only need three seats to tie the State Senate but the 2020 elections give them slim pickings. It wouldn't have mattered if Gillum eked it out, either - Governor doesn't have veto power over maps in Florida.

Bernie's unfavorables are not good considering he doesnt have the excuse of no one knowing who he is. I'm shocked beto has more dont knows than harris considering his senate campaign.

That's well within the margin of error- basically noise. neither is really better known than the other.

Beto had his senate campaign, yes- but Harris got a lot of face time during the cavanaugh hearings.

FL Gov can veto congressional but not state maps

Someone people hate more than Trump.
Nobody should be hated more than Trump but the hate for some of these candidates is very understandable. I'm refusing to give Starbucks any money until Schultz stops with the bullshit (he's still the largest shareholder of the company). Klobuchar is a despicable person and outright unelectable. Really goes to show you how you can't just look at someone's experience. Yang is a single issue candidate and I like the UBI discussion but it sucks that 4chan is attached to him. And Gillibrand just killed her campaign with her pain medication tweet.

I don't even want to piss them off BECAUSE I WANT THEM TO CHILL AND VOTE FOR THE DEM WHO WINS THE PRIMARY REGARDLESS OF WHO IT IS. The only potential candidate I want to just f-off is Gabbard.

Goes to show how trash most of the dem field is for 2020. Half of those folks are unelectable out of the gate.

I find myself getting second hand embarrassment watching people like Klob or Gilly for thinking anyone likes them or wants them to win.

I mean, some people like them. It's literally in the numbers there.

I'd be interested to see a breakdown of those favorability numbers by party. My guess is they'll go up for a Dem after they get the nomination and everyone is unified.

Going off opinion polls the past couple months, both parties are just polarized on each end with Independents hating everyone.

Biden is the only one who seems immune to this, but we'll see if that holds once he's actually declared.

We all joke about this but it's going to be a big problem come election season. We'll see many people in the middle who will say "well people said Trump being president would be the end of the world but we're still here" and "my life hasn't been any different with him as president so it's fine" Like I can't tell you how many times I've seen "the sun will still come up tomorrow no matter who's in office". This'll make them either not vote or outright vote for him if a Democratic candidate like Bernie brings about things that make them uncomfortable (*cough* taxes *cough*)

Like it should be impossible considering his 24/7 coverage by the news that people don't have an opinion on this sewage pipe of a human being but many people will surprise you. I'd say there are far more "both sides" people out there than actual Jacob Wohl type pro Trumpers and that'll especially be the case if someone who seems "far left" is nominated.

This was a fantastic meme I don't care what everyone thinks. God 2016 before November was a great year and people shit talked it because a bunch of celebrities died.

GRAVELGANG

Lmao Mike coming out of the woods is so out of left field this is wacky.

Ok this has to be a joke account at this point.

Edit: Googling lead me to this:

Mike Gravel's Viral 2020 Campaign Is the Brainchild of a New York Teen
Gravel's account is being run by a "group of students" in Westchester, New York who, as one of them told Splinter in an interview, convinced the former senator to think about running again. This has caused a substantial amount of confusion, as the teens have spent most of the last 24 hours furiously shitposting under Gravel's name and doing memes with people who were still on Twitter at 1 a.m. last night.

Splinter reached out to the email address on the Gravel campaign/ committee website and heard back shortly after from a high school student named David Oks, who said he was the one behind Gravel's fire tweets. Oks said the exploratory committee sure is real, and Gravel is on board with it. (Gravel said the same thing to a Politico reporter on Tuesday night.)

Oks, a high school senior who has previously run for mayor of his small New York town, told Splinter that he and several friends are avid listeners of the Chapo Trap House podcast, which mentioned Gravel in a recent episode. About a week ago, he and a couple friends reached out to Gravel and asked if he would consider making another run for president. Their pitch was clear. "My friends and I were encouraging him to consider running for president with the idea being that he would not try to contest any primaries, he would just try to get into the Democratic debates," he said.

Oks and his friends were clearly inspired by Gravel's performance in the 2008 debates, where he delivered a searing indictment of the vast majority of his fellow candidates for their support of the Iraq war and their continued commitment to American interventionism in the Middle East.

The Mike Gravel account is run by a group of college kids that want him to run for president. He's aware of it but isn't specifically involved

Edit: I guess Linkura beat me to it and it was teens not college kids

Oh good so the Chapo people are planning to AstroTurf a joke candidate so that he can clog up and make a circus out of the debates. Great.

It's all so blatant. Then they try to play the victim card and say Bernie fans are not welcome on resetera when they are called out for it.
