Honestly the fact she talks at all makes her status as a playable character uncertain, considering the series almost uniformly has next to no voice acting for the MC. I really hope she is, and her being a focal point makes it seem very likely, but still. Aigis in The Answer really is the closest analogue... Or yeah, Marie.

People say it's not FemC cause of what she says. But she's talking to Akechi, so is it not possible she's just bullshitting him to not bring attention to herself?

Looking back on it, might not be FeMC. Joker is in the second year while this new character is in the first. Also I don't know Japanese but people on the net are saying she hates the Phantom Thieves. I honestly don't know what this might be tbh.

How do we know she's a first year or whatever?
The pin on her blazer says 1.

Man i have basically zero expectations with Atlus since they pretty much always disappoint me....and if this is indeed no FemMC like it looks now, they somehow managed to disappoint me even more than usual, since they made me think they would for once actually not disappoint.. God damn

Now the big question is, since we know Smash has this female protagonist (or whatever she is) playable as a Joker alt, how do they talk about it before Atlus properly reveals her and her game at the Persona Super Live ?

They just won't show her in Smash until after Atlus concert annoucement. Joker for Smash is obvious coming after the concert.

Sounds like it is the equivalent of The Answer for Persona 3.
Not a FeMC route like P3P at all.

This is why I truly never thought P5 was coming to Switch, something always felt off - they would have announced it when Joker was announced I think.

If SMT is a Nintendo thing and Persona is a Sony thing thats fine, probably would have made more sense to have a SMT guy in Smash though if thats the case.

Basically do we think (without P5 being on Switch) Joker in Smash will sell more DLC to core Smash fans and possibly outside Persona fans than a character already beloved/known by the core Nintendo fanbase?

Comparisons to Cloud are stupid as well IMO, he is easily the most iconic character in the FF franchise and hugely popular and known guy in gaming just in general. Joker is not.

A better comparison for Joker would be if they had put Lightning in Smash.

how would anyone know

we don't know right now, check back in one month from now

I played P3 Portable and P4 Golden after playing their previous versions and still enjoyed them but I also absolutely love Persona and I'm always looking for more.

Ok thx.

I believe one playtrough should be enough for me because the game takes a lot of time...

I think the theory of it being a what-if side story makes a lot of sense. It allows to make the base game not longer than it already is, while still offering more content to the die-hards that want more. It'd also allow to sell it as an expansion to those who already own the base game, while offering a full package with both the game and the DLC at full retail price.

As for the Switch version, I think it'll have both the base game and the DLC in a complete edition under the acronym P5S.

This would be nice, just something that doesn't require me to replay the whole game over again. But idk.

I don't see it being a "sequel" as:

1. The "Take Your Heart" video screen is part of the trailer, indicating the Phantom Thieves are still active so this be would be like mid game.

2. The ending
they lose their powers

Fan-translated trailer should be up in 1-2 hours, I'll link both the original and the translated ver. in the OP when it's up.

So does this mean no Switch port? I haven't been following news so I'm confused as to what is going on.

If there's one thing I've learned is that there are fans who literally have their art tools up and ready whenever a new announcement is imminent.
There was a new character on an episode of My Little Pony who had fanart before the half-hour episode even ended.

Said character was introduced like ten minutes in.

I never really believed the Switch rumours to be honest

Atlus seem to limit main series persona games to playstation and tensei to nintendo

And they've been garbage on switch so far which i dont expect to change

As much as I love Persona 5, I don't think I can replay it again unless they add a significant amount of new content.

So does this mean no Switch port n
Too early to come to conclusions. "P5S.jp" still exists and is supposedly a Switch version of a Persona game, we don't know what game that is meant to be but considering leakers and insiders have stated that both P5S and P5R is the same re-release (which this trailer kind of disproves by pushing the whole "what-if" scenario) and that it's supposed to release this fall, I wouldn't put much stock in word going around. Best bet is just to wait till Super Live, tbh.

If we don't get an announcement for "P5S" at Super Live then we'll probably not see it for a long time. That's what I think, anyways.

I know hardly anything new other than she's a new character who either is another Marie or she's playable somehow given the Smash datamine. Lame, Atlus. Announcement for an announcement for an announcement. I hope this is something worth playing for Persona 5 fans though.

There's also E3, it's big enough to be there since it's a new game that should get released later this year.

I kind of like the slow tease, it's definitely an Atlus thing but it gives off the feeling that this is an actual proper follow-up to Persona 5 in more ways than one.

This might be a wild prediction but I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if the Japanese version launched in Winter 2019.
