I hate when you get to the point where you need one specific item to drop to get your level up and it won't. I'm at 304 but I can't get a helm past 298 on my Titan.

To echo what Grave said I'd recommend anyone who feels like they are stuck in terms of light level progression make some alts. You can leapfrog a bit while waiting for weekly powerful gear milestones to become available again.

Yup, it was confirmed to be flat. The well rested buff every reset is 3X XP for first three rank ups. Be sure not to leave your XP bar at 95% on Mondays, you'll waste a rank up Tuesday.

This is untrue. You are given 3x XP for a flat amount of XP every week, that amount being equal to the amount of XP it requires for 3 full level ups.

So, if you're 90% of the way to your next bright engram when the reset hits, you will stop getting 3x XP when you're 90% of the way to your 4th bright engram that week.

Know this feeling really well... On my Titan it took a couple weeks to finally get those last pieces that I needed to bump my Power level to 305, a few of them were just a couple points off of bumping it up to that last tier but just couldn't seem to find them after what seemed like forever. After getting that one character to 305 it seemed almost WAY too easy to get the others up there as well.

I really wish one of the options in the chat comms would be "Clan". Not everyone has multiple monitors to watch Discord or whatever else you use to get things together. Also, the lack of in-game overlay for the Blizzard client makes it doubly hard.

Anything I should be saving for when I hit x light level? Engrams, shards, etc. or just spend/redeem them freely as I get them?

It's literally one piece which is what is so frustrating. I've gotten three chest pieces and a bunch of weapons this week, and last week I just got a shitload of power weapons. It's so annoying.

Finally got to play a bit more these past few days.
Currently at 242.

From what I've seen/read, I can do basically anything until 260?
I have fun exploring the world, but oh lord... are the weapons underwhelming. *sigh*

Q: Do milestone rewards "drop" at the light level you're at while completing them or can I hold out on them until I'm 260+ and then pick them up to get a light level boost?
I know that engrams work differently in D2 in that their level is determined at the moment of drop, not decryption.

Milestones are the fastest way to level up your Power level, so just pick them up as you do them weekly. If you wait to pick them up you'll be technically missing multiple milestones if you wait for more than a week.

Engrams are locked to the light level you were when you picked them up, so open any engrams you have as you get them.
Weekly stuff, like Flashpoints, Nightfalls, Clan XP, and Call to Arms are guaranteed powerful engrams, so when you want a light level boost, do those.
If you want to be more efficient with leveling, you can do one or 2 of them, and edge the others to almost complete, and do other things in hopes of normal progression.
Exotics are your only other form of moving forward after you complete all your powerful engram activities, so exotics engrams and quests(blue markers on the maps).

Also, is there any PvE meta currently? Best overall guns for most of the activities? Did anything stand out since launch (ie D2's Fatebringer, VoC, ...)?
I'm woefully behind on the whole game. *shrug*

To be completely honest, I find myself rarely using exotic weapons on my hunter.
Merciless is always good, but rocket launchers with cluster bombs have more utility in my opinion.
I usually end up with a sword while on patrol though, unless I know I will run into cabal extraction rigs or drills for public events.
It will revolve heavily on what planet you are on, or what activity you are doing.
If its strikes, probably want merciless/fusion rifle or rockets.
If its on Titan, a sword is fun.
On Io/EDZ/Nessus, Rocket Launcher or fusion rifles.

Cant recommend any kinetic or energy exotics, as most on tether hunter are meh at best.

GutZ31 Thanks!
I was just reading that it's worth saving the rep tokens for later but I've been using those as I got them. I'm 220 now but I have a lot of adventures and even the main story to still finish.

Anything that needs sustained damage, use Coldheart or Sweet Business, as is Merciless. Curtain Call and Sins of the Past are awesome RLs for PvE. Vigilance Wing is a good primary but has issues with ammo.

MIDA is really good at long range. Nameless Midnight is great too.

hmm thanks.

i was thinking rat pack, since it's easy to get and fits the theme....

I like swords and shotguns to pair with stealth, but it doesn't seem like there's any good ones or any at all...

That gun, I am very sorry to say, is garbo.
No damage increase for more people using it.
with 6 people all using it, it has 20 rounds in the mag, and fires slightly faster.
Thats it.

As a person who doesn't own, and probably won't get, Mario Odyssey for a while, can you please expand on this subject? Because the two games and their end game goals at first glance seem to be miles apart.

Don't read too much into it. It's all in jest.

However, it's no secret that Destiny 2's end game is lacking. With 40 Leviathan completions (8 of them on Prestige), 11 flawless Trials cards, and having every exotic weapon and ornament, I've basically exhausted all there is to do for the time being. The issue is incentive more than anything else. I just have little reason to do anything, especially since the rewards ultimately don't benefit me at all.

Mario on the other hand gives you a SHIT LOAD to do, most of which isn't easily beatable in a relatively short amount of time.

Again, I'm just talking out of my ass. I look forward to challenge mode and will undoubtedly do it each week on all of my characters until I have complete sets.

I think some of the things to come - like the different faction rep grinds, etc. - will help fill some of that void but in the end if the loot grind doesn't appeal to you I don't think anything that's in the pipes, other than new Raids and stuff, will do it.

Made a Titan on PC and finished the tutorial stuff, so far I'm having a blast.
About to read over the posts here for any tips and whatnot I can find for beginners like me.

Not a fan of crucible in its current state. The crucible was built on 6v6 and sure maybe a little unbalanced at times but it was never boring, I put in hundred of hours into original crucible and 4v4 and lack of modes and options just man... I hate it.

Hey! Could I grab an invite to the ERA discord for Destiny 2? The invite links don't seem to work.
The OP says "DestinyEra Discord is large & active (~1000 members). And is now no longer closed. We are invite only at the moment, focusing on known members of the community. PM JohnOfMars if you'd like to join."

So if people recognize / know you that's your ticket in. There's been issues with the general invite link apparently being used for spam or worse stuff.

I think Crucible and Strike Playlist are both strangely barebones. I hope they add some more options going forward.

One thing to note...Zavala carries pretty much the best guns in the game. From nameless midnight, to night shade, to main ingredient, to curtain call and origin story. Definitely grind some strikes and nightfall for some of these aforementioned drops.

So I wasn't a huge fan of the last game, but picked up Destiny 2 after my friend said that a lot of the problems i had were fixed. I've got to say i am loving this game. Really fun to play and gorgeous on the PC.

I do wish that they would at least give more crucible tokens for winning, because at this point it just doesn't seem like it matters at all.

Man this game is so good. And the way they cram in all of these great little stories during the side quests (well, sort of side quests) is great - complete 180 from the first game. Lots of memorable characters and moments and I am only about 50% finished. I snort laughed at the self deprecating line from Cayde-6 during that teleport quest :)

It does feel a little on the easy side at times, but I don't mind it. Maybe it's because I learned Destiny mechanics using a controller and I really suck using them for shooters. But it feels offset in that you can be OP for a mission but still position yourself poorly or make a dumb mistake (like letting enemies flank you) and still die the odd death. And the epic (or what not) public events sometimes had me scrambling and surviving by the skin of my teeth like many missions did in D1; It's rewarding taking down a tough public event by oneself with a sliver of health and 10 rounds left.

I'm pretty sure a boost in token rewards for crucible and strikes will be in the first significant patch.

Nice. Thanks for the info! :)
And remember that Nameless Midnight, Origin Story and Nightshade are all quest rewards from Zavala - choose a different one each time you do that quest on an alt while levelling!

I don't like how I can't replay missions whenever I want, because they made them weekly quests. Replaying Halo at higher difficulties was the best part. I know I'm not alone on that. Didn't D1 have daily mission quests?

The one thing that's hilarious to me about Destiny 2 is the extensive use of "monster closets".

Man that's a concept I haven't seen around much since like Doom 3, but it's so blatant here. Was this a thing in Destiny 1 as well?

Yeah, and they didn't even try to hide it in D1. D2 has more dropships, so there aren't as many.

Also, not gonna lie, I have died more to platforming misadventures now as a Warlock than from enemies. These first couple missions on Titan were kinda brutal in that regard.

Is the only way to do campaign missions with other people to have them in your group? I don't know anyone that plays this game and it's sucks going through the story solo. Feels very much like I'm just playing a SP game.
