Ack...so many games, so little time.

I know for sure I want FinalFantasy XII, Hellblade. Unsure about Dragon's Dogma but I feel being portable will make me enjoy it in bed?

Plus Cuphead, Umihara Kawase Fresh and all the other games I missed last week...argh!
Hot damn that Hellblade port is possibly the most impressive game on switch. i told you all that panic button were good but certainly not magicians.
There's Iron Galaxy (Skyrim, Diablo 3) and then recently QLOC and their impressive conversions (Hellblade).
Virtuous can be a hit or miss at times, but when they fit it's pretty good (Starlinked).

Ehhh, I dunno about that. I mean, it's an impressive port for sure considering how it ran on PS4, but just looking at the game, it doesn't look all that great to me. There are certainly quite a few games that look better, in my opinion.

Really? Different tastes I guess, but even first party games on the system don't look that good in my opinion.
It looks very flat, devoid of lighting and shadows, low res. I dunno. Cutscenes look impressive, but gameplay is kind of rough. Doom and Wolfenstein look much better as games, even if as ports they are not as impressive (because the originals were 60 fps). Hard to compare with first party games because the styles are so different.

To anyone who's wondering if they should try Ace Attorney for the first time now that a new version of the trilogy is out: Yes, of course, the hell have you been doing with your life up until now?

Smh.

Grabbed Switch 'n' Shoot with some gold points, it's really really fun and it's got nice little color pallet unlockables like Downwell. The leaderboard system is a little odd (no online, you just get an auto-assigned name each time you play but the leaderboard starts out with a bunch of similarish names too), but otherwise no real complaints, the gameplay is unique and really solid.

Also keeping an eye on Super Weekend Mode, not really sure what it is but the screenshots look amazing....definitely would be interested if anyone has impressions on Friday (or now if anyone here has played it elsewhere).

Does the console port of Shadowgate add any new content compared to the PC version of the remake from several years ago? I swear I read that it does but now I'm doubting myself. Trying to decide whether to double dip.

If you are a fan of the original Shadowgate (any of the many versions), you should definitely check out the remake if you haven't already. It takes cues from lots of different versions of the game released over the years, including some obscure ones. It's a pretty lovingly made remake that is actually pretty different from the original overall, which I think is a good thing, since nothing can ever top the original on NES, IMO. That's my favorite point and click of all time by far.

I would kill for something like Space Pirates And Zombies on switch right now, I got the itch for a top down space shooter with progression and customization.

Any recommendations?

Everspace looked like it might scratch the itch abit aside from the prospective.

I just finished Flipping Death and I don't know how the other versions of the game fare but on Switch it has a lot of bugs. It's a shame cause it's otherwise a good game, but I do not recommend the Switch version at all.

Is it just me or does Nintendo Life tend to give most games 8/10 in their reviews? It seems far and away the most common rating lol

Bought Cook Server Delicious 2 - fantastic game so far. Seems to also have an overwhelming amount of content.

One question about the UI though: is it possible to exit from the curret task (such as the preparation of the current order)?

Afraid not, the digital download gets you both, for better or worse. You could always nab the cart, though.
Ugh. That's really short sighted. For such a long game, there's no way I can keep 27gb free for the amount of time it would take to get through both games.

Guess I can cross that one off my list.

So Hellblade is like 12 euros on the Mexican eshop, but my credit cards (all of them; Caixa, Revolut, freaking paypal...) ain't working there. Is there a way to buy from another eshop in that case? I haven't found download codes on Amazon either.

That 'Baba Is You' is 3 hours long is the most ridiculous hot take that I have read in Era in the entire 2019.

Back to the topic of games that we have actually played, the Switch port of 'Gigantic Army' is legit.

NSwitchDS_GiganticArmy_05.jpg

And the best game inspired in 'Cybernator' ever made.

It's basically 'Contra: Hard Corps', but with fucking gigantic mechs.

And I'm using the comparison with 'Contra: Hard Corps' because the game is a bloody orgy of gigantic mid bosses, with the same sense of epicness of Konami's magnum opus.

It's like playing an episode of a space opera, making you feel immersed in a intergalactic scale war, while you see in the horizon other mechs destroying dreadnoughts. They have really nailed the setting of the game.

One of the most gorgeous 2D showcases seen this generation. And running at 60 FPS, it doesn't matter the size or number of sprites and explosions

One of my greatest surprises of this 2019.

And my favorite Astro Port game so far.

You can alternatively get it for 20 € on the South African eShop, where those CCs will most likely work.

In case you missed all the responses to HotHamBoy's initial post, Baba is You is A LOT of bang for your buck, it is nowhere in the vicinity of 3 hours. Maybe 40-50 if you do all levels...

Actually much more than that if you don't use a guide and you are not some kind of genius.
The 3 hours thing is because we can get some "credits" after a few hours, but that's not the real ending.

NICE. That looks absolutely dope. Having an arcade shooter like that running at 60 FPS on my Switch sounds like as good a reason as any to give it a go.

I'm extremely interested in My Time At Portia, but the screenshots on the Nintendo site look really rough. Some of the gameplay videos look fine, but I think this is a case of wait and see what the handheld mode looks like.

Honestly, there are so many great games coming to the Switch that I've been using "Does it run at native 720p in portable" as an easy qualifier for purchases.

The output for the Switch is insane and leads to so many gems flying under the radar even with a concerted effort to keep up it's so hard to keep track of them all! I try to keep my wishlist up to date, but awesome games keep slipping through the cracks.

Also keeping an eye on Super Weekend Mode, not really sure what it is but the screenshots look amazing....definitely would be interested if anyone has impressions on Friday (or now if anyone here has played it elsewhere).
I have a total of 21 minutes of Super Weekend Mode on Steam (before giving up). Basically you're controlling 2 separate paddles that can occupy 2 spaces each and you have to control them in unison to grab the hearts, avoid the skulls, and sideswipe the bunnies. You have to be really coordinated to maneuver both panels, which I am not. And I never quite got the bunny timing down..

Played a few hours of Cook Serve Delicious 2 last night and loved every minute of it. Co-op mode was crazy manic fun with my wife as was attempted to get orders out and then I explored the Campaign mode a bit solo. There is an amazing amount of content - tons of individual pre-created, themed restaurants you can work in with multiple different menus available (some are harder than others!) plus the regular Campaign mode where you can design your own restaurant using parts and options you unlock over time, create your own menus that you can swap between before starting a new day and so much more. Really, really impressive. The ambiance is neat, too - some days are filled with rainstorms with lightning flashing and thunder rolling. Makes you happy to be inside even though you're being deluged with customers! Port seems excellent - I haven't found any issues so far. If you play handheld you can use the touchscreen or the regular controls to prep orders. The touchscreen definitely gives a different experience - not sure which I was faster at but both were enjoyable. I can't say enough good things about CSD2 - if you have any interest in cooking games this is the one to get. I was happy to preorder it at full price ($12.99 US).

I had a great time with the first Cook Serve Delicious on Steam. I quit because of the management side of the game -- it's not complex at all, but I really, really suck at managing things and got nervous thinking I might be buying the wrong stuff :P

since diablo 3 is on sale ... how is the couch coop?

The ps4 version has some weird stuff that the coop person has to use another profile and stuff... how does it work on the switch?

Unless we went through more hoops than we had to, it was the same way for my brother and me when we played co-op to have two profiles, one for each player.
