should have just went all out and did the civil war iron spider costume

it's just for one movie, sell a shit load of toys, then go back to normal.

They might not have wanted to go all in on Iron Spider because a big point in Homecoming was that Peter didn't need all those gadgets. There's no harm in him using tech, obviously, but it makes sense that they wouldn't want to go too crazy.

Random thought: what if Ant-Man was a 90's live-action Disney movie?

Scott Lang - Robin Williams
Hank Pym - Michael Douglas
Hope van Dyne - Renee Zellweger
Darren Cross - Billy Zane
Luis - John Leguizamo
Falcon - LeVar Burton

I gotta be honest. I have a really hard time getting truly excited about the Black Panther movie. I guess it's because it doesn't seem to take many cues from Coates' comic book run? There's no white tiger police force, no midnight angels, and it doesn't seem to have that heavy political focus as that comic book run but I can't tell until the movie is out.

Man, Coates' run was really disappointing for me. Coming off Civil War, I wanted more BP, so I obviously read Coastes' run when it first came out, gave up after 3 chapters. You loved BP in Civil War? Well, here's a BP that's nothing like that.

I loved Black Panther in Civil War (the movie) but I also loved the Black Panther in Coates' run. For his solo movie I just hope we will get to see lots of Wakanda and get into some political aspects but I have this feeling it's just gonna be Erik Kilmonger deciding to take down T'Challa with brute force and thus we have a full blown action movie.

All the shit that guy is saying is insane. Is he the owner of that website? 'Cus if I was his boss, I'd be ashamed to have him on my payroll, then again, the boss probably let him post that disgusting article in the first place.

No plans for Daredevil to show up in MCU movies
This weekend Charlie Cox attended the ACE Comic Con in Long Island and herehe was asked if he would appear in a MCU movie and the answer was a resounding "no." He doesn't seem to have been approached about the idea either.

I don't know why people keep asking these questions.
Frankly I wonder how long they're going to keep tryin with the Netflix Marvel shows at all. After Defenders flopped, and now that Disney is doing their own streaming service, what does Marvel TV's ambition even look like now? The talk around Punisher already seemed extremely muted.

Someone in the Fox buyout thread suggested that the Netflix shows have at least timed exclusivity (2-10 years) until they can be brought over to DisneyFlix. So when/if they finally make the jump, they're probably not going to continue them. And I've theorized before that the moratorium on shows on non-Disney services coupled with the increased production of Netflix shows probably means that they are riding this out as much as they can. If their usual production time holds (5-6 months of filming, 4-6 months post), we could theoretically see 4 full seasons in 2018.

The Netflix shows were too slow for my linking. I watched Daredevil season 1 and Jessica Jones and that was enough for me. They were also very dark, not in the theme sense, but the actual lighting sense. Really dark.

I'd personally prefer that they just do what DC does with their TV shows and make them a separate universe. It can allow the Netflix series to be a little more free wheeling with what they can do, and it means any Netflix heroes can show up in the MCU at a later date without all the baggage of their story lines. The Netflix shows don't even bother replacing the MetLife building with Stark Tower, so it's not like it would require a lot of retconning.

Beside, it would free up Mahershala Ali to play Blade!

Why is it necessary to make it a separate universe? What has been held back by them being tenuously connected? And, as we saw with Civil War and Luke Cage, no one cares if the same actor is playing different characters in the shows and movies.

You think the Movieside would care about TV side baggage?

Well, yeah, it could have a negative impact. It's like the Star Wars fans who were convinced Benicio del Toro was playing Ezra Bridger. Imagine him showing up in The Last Jedi and says "Oh, hi guys, I'm also a Jedi. Yeah, I've been over here for a while. Why, did you guys need a Jedi?" I wouldn't fault anyone who asks "who the hell is this guy with his four seasons worth of backstory"? If Charlie Cox's Daredevil shows up in the Homecoming sequel and candidly mentions how he came back from the dead, people will want to know why wasn't he in the Avengers. Why didn't they ask this guy with the bullet proof skin to help root out Hydra? Why didn't they ask the Iron Fist, protector of K'un-Lun, sworn enemy of the Hand, to help out slightly more than not at all?

Why is it necessary to make it a separate universe? What has been held back by them being tenuously connected? And, as we saw with Civil War and Luke Cage, no one cares if the same actor is playing different characters in the shows and movies.

It just doesn't make sense to me to keep up the pretence that they are unified, when they are partially all but separate. If the Netflix series become separate they won't have to tip-toe around the upcoming invasion of aliens.

Heh, Woodard's CW character was hardly a huge role. Playing both Cottenmouth and Blade would raise some eyebrows.

I've got to be honest, the Netflix shows have been such a massive disappointment lately that I'm glad the movie side never bothered.

Real shame Coulson and his team can't be thrown a bone though.

The same actors playing multiple roles isn't really a problem. Enver Gjokaj played an extra in Avengers and Daniel Sousa in Agent Carter. Tony Curran played Bor in Thor 2 and a mobster in Daredevil. Martin Starr was some nerd in Incredible Hulk and the teacher in Spider-Man Homecoming. Kenneth Choi portrayed Jim Morita in the first Cap and Principal Morita in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Matt Gerald is Melvin Potter in Daredevil and White Power Dave in the Hail the King short. And so on.

The films and the Netflix series will be separate once Luke Cage S2 comes out and Gabrielle Dennis plays the same character as Nabiyah Be in Black Panther, Tilda Johnson aka Nightshade.

My knowledge of Him/Adam/Warlock is limited to what I've read from the 60s and 70s, with that in mind I think he'd break the MCU. He's basically Jesus. Granted, he's already been teased, so hey!

Eh, these two add up for me. Principal Morita is specifically implied to be Jim Morita's grandson, and there's no contradiction in "random student" becoming "random teacher."

But yeah overall the movies have never been held back by TV side casting. They even reused Alfre Woodard, and she was a main cast member for Luke Cage.

The point I was trying to make is that as far as the film or series is concerned, the actor behind the character doesn't exist. It can be jarring to the audience but the narrative isn't damaged by an actor playing multiple characters.

Yeah, wont happen anyway since nobody at Marvel Studios gives a shit about TV stuff anyway.

I love the Netflix stuff, they've all been great to decent imo. 2nd half of Cage and Iron Fist were the weakest which sucked. I don't even want these guys to have major parts in MCU films, that's why this whole thing is so silly. Spidey is swinging across NY and you see a blind guy in red shades walking down the street; I think most fans would geek out.

It's just frustrating that they've have these characters and aren't using them to the fullest. Rand is a billionaire but you never hear Tony mention anything about it. Other than what they did the to Inhumans, not having some Netflix stars cameo is the only other issue I have with Marvel.

I wish all the TV would do a continuity outside of the films, yet still acknowledge each other. I'm fine with that level of separation. Have Fitzsimmons guest on JJ helping with forensic shit, or Luke Cage and Mack bro it out.

Hugh Jackman talks about the Disney Fox deal:

"It's interesting because for the whole 17 years I kept thinking that would be so great, like I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together. And every time I saw an Avengers movie I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like punching them all on the head. But it was like, "Oh well, that's not gonna happen," and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline — it was just the possibility of it and who knows what's gonna happen, obviously — I was like, "Hang on!" But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else I would like to see Wolverine in there."

Welp, the dream is over.

Damn, could've sworn I saw someone embed Instagram posts in a different thread, but now it looks like we can't?
Weird that it can't be embedded.

Seems like there's new details out about New Warriors:

  • The pilot was actually shot almost half a year ago; initial filming began at the end of July, right as Keith David had been cast as the show's antagonist. They shot the pilot for a bout a week give or take (which while it sounds short, in terms of actually shooting, a week is pretty normal shoot time for one episode, especially a half-hour comedy). This seemed to check out, as they cited the social media accounts of some crew listed on IMDB as on the show posted pictures on a set together on the 26th, (and no, there isn't another project where all the people involved had worked on before) as well as the showrunner, Kevin Biegel, with some cryptic post on Instagram that seemed to indicate something exciting was going on (as well as coupled by some relative radio silence by the show's cast for the following week).
  • Portlandia veteran Bill Benz seems to be involved in the show in some capacity, possibly as a producer or as the director of the pilot.
  • The reason the show was passed on despite testing very well is that New Warriors is pretty expensive, at least as far as half-hour comedies tend to go (especially at much smaller outlets like Freeform). Testing really well is great, but Freeform balked at the price tag the show would need. This is why Marvel is looking for a two-season order: they're really confident in the show, but want a bit of overhead due to the (relative for a comedy) higher costs.
  • The source also speculated that Tippy Toe, Squirrel Girl's faithful animal partner and one of the best superhero pets in comic history (sorry, Lockheed) might be played by...a real squirrel. There wasn't any super concrete evidence for this, but did point out an account that the show's cast and showrunner had followed on Instagram shortly after the period when the pilot had purported to have been shot, @this_girl_is_a_squirrel, an account primarily featuring Jill, a squirrel some may have remembered from going viral after being rescued in the midst of Hurricane Isaac. As nice as Old Lace looks in Runaways, a real squirrel would sure be an impressive feat to pull off.
  • In addition, on a smaller note, it seems Night Thrasher will be keeping his signature skateboard in the series, as his actor, Jeremy Tardy, posted an Instagram video of him practicing on a skateboard for "superhero training". This was also followed by comments of excitement and encouragement from the rest of the New Warrirors cast, which is just, god, just so friggin adorable.

And a new international trailer for Black Panther featuring new footage:

Seeing the news about the replacement director for Creed 2 has gotten me thinking, what does everyone think the future now holds for Starhawk going forward? I was looking forward to his gang of Guardians going up against the current line up, so I hope that they just recast the role.

We still don't know if Fox's agreement with Constantin will be transferred over to Disney.

But the X-Men are a sure thing at least.
One thing I don't get it, Ego's rights were related to Fantastic Four, right? How were they able to negotiate with Fox, if Constantin holds the rights to FF?

New Warriors sounds pretty good. I'm kinda curious how long they can hold off on putting it on somewhere.

Also, that BP trailer looks dope.

I haven't followed the Stallone story closely but didn't those allegations end up going... nowhere? If more pops up, they should take him off the movies but since we don't even know what their plans for the OG Guardians are, we can only speculate.

Also, they might be good this time.

I mean, that goes without saying.

The story was Fox wanted to alter Negasonic Teenage Warhead's powers for the Deadpool movie, but they're not legally allowed to do that, so they traded Ego for permission.

And I think Ego is wrapped up in the X-Men rights.
