Cuphead is seriously amazing. There's such a perfect balance between all its aspects. From its great artwork and animation, to the incredibly tight controls, the pace of the levels, the interesting patterns that include just enough randomness to feel fair but unpredictable at the same time.... it's really a perfect game so far.
This one goes directly to the top of my favourite game list. Guys, don't wait for any discount and just buy this game asap, the others can wait.

Yes! Cuphead is absolutely superb, completely polished and I don't think I've sat up late at night replaying the same stage over and over and over like this since I was a kid. I'm genuinely surprised by how good Cuphead is, one of the best games I've played.

I'm glad it came to Switch because I don't own an XB and may have missed out on this entirely otherwise.

Exactly my thoughts, I'm dying a ton but still don't mind and have longer playing sessions than with most other games. It's like Celeste all over again, basically.

Muse Dash looks awesome but kind of terrible at the same time. That art style, ugh.
I finished The friends of Ringo Ishikawa.

I have mixed feelings.

On one hand, i loved the experience, the concept, the music, the tone. On the other hand, i hated how abrubtly everything ends and how little what i did seemed to matter. But maybe that was the author's point? Either way, not sure it made for a very satisfying game.

There's a lot of unexplained systems you invest in because you aren't sure what is important and it turns out pretty much all of them are pointless. Then, you've got this whole routine and plan and your halfway to your goals when the game is just suddenly over and you wonder why you were ever anxious about balancing your investments in the first place. I beat the game without even understanding why i was doing the things I was doing and a lot of it didn't have any consequence, or even any flavor text. The game was over before i was ready for it to be and that wasn't because i was having so much fun doing what i was doing but because i had invested a lot of hours into things I WASN'T having fun doing and then it was all interrupted and my accomplishments made moot.

I guess that's like real life. Is real life fun?
This sounds pretty in line with how the game's felt to me so far, except I don't mind it because I knew about it before buying it (thankfully), but I can definitely see how it could turn off a lot of people.

Hey, you're cool, I'll be grabbing all of those games. :P

At least in the US, all of the BoxBoy! games on 3DS and most of SEGA's Switch software have seen discounts at some point, so it's very likely that both BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! and Puyo Puyo Champions will see discounts in the future. Picross S, S2, Kemono Friends, and the 3ds "e" series have never been on sale, ever, so S3 is a safe day one purchase since I doubt it'll ever drop in price, but if this is your first Picross on Switch I would just recommend saving a few bucks and starting with the first game. Although be warned, Picross is an insatiable addiction that might spiral your life into oblivion as the hours tick away. >:].

Thank you for the well thought out reply, I'll preorder Picross then and wait for sales on the other two!

The irony is that I think this game is intended to be experienced with as little foreknowledge as possible.

Ooo... sale on Katamari Damacy Reroll (in the US). Was this version any different from the original games, or at least worth picking up?

Does anyone have experience buying games or eshop credit on the Japanese store? I know I can buy codes from playasia but the exchange rate is favorable to usd so I was thinking of using my MasterCard with no foreign transaction fees. Has anyone tried this ?

Just noticed Sniper Elite V2 Remastered has a pre-purchase discount of 10%. I'm tempted as I have really fond memories of the entry in the series. It's a really fun "b game" and I prefer the more linear structure of it to what the series has become (more open world).

I don't think any kind of foreign credit card is allowed on the Switch Japanese eShop, contrary to the 3DS one.

just judging from the first chapter / tutorial, you deffinately want to play Steamworld Quest on hard. I mean, I hope I dont regret this later on (actually I think you can change difficulty at any time) but I played a few battles on normal, restarted on hard and yeah, huge difference. Enemies actually hurt on hard, so you actually have to use...all your cards, you mana barriers, your healing cards or items, you cant just spam attacks, it feels much better. I even read that on normal you can pretty much ignore the elemental weaknesses aspect of the game, and why would you want to do that >_>

I use my VISA on JP eshop all the time. No problem except paying a few transaction fees.

From what I remember seeing in reviews, difficulty can be changed whenever you want, so that's a plus if I decide to start on hard myself. Hopefully it is balanced well.

Damn, 'Defend your Castle', the cult WiiWare classic , and one of the finest early indie titles released on a Nintendo console, has seen a stealth release on the European eShop.

Now I only need 'Fluidity' and 'LIT' to complete my personal list of WiiWare indie essentials.

Dear Person(s) Responsible for Android Assault Cactus +,

Your game is amazing. I'm seriously addicted and might consider getting a Starch tattoo if I ever get a tattoo (WATERMELON?!). I love:

  • the constant 60 FPS now matter how busy it gets
  • the constant action
  • the short and strategic play times
  • the outstanding level designs that force you to adapt
  • the variety of android attack types
  • the killer effects
  • the amazing music
  • the rush of score chasing based both on time and the ability to stay on your feet
  • the attitude of all the characters
  • the daily challenges
  • the infinity drive
  • the numerous EX options, including first person and 2D-ish modes (!!!!)
  • the 4 player options available to 4 local players, or one player looking to get crazy

but if there were one thing I'd really love in a sequel or even some kind of DLC is online multiplayer. My brother and I live half way across the country from one another and it's hard to get into the same room for multiplayer fun. this game would be perfect for our Saturday morning play sessions.

just a thought in case you come by these forums.

many thanks,

Am I gonna have to make a Steamworld Quest OT? I suck at making OTs I'm too lazy >_>

Anyway, put 3 hours into it, my advice: If you have any sort of experience with card games in the slightest, play on hard (or "legend" as its called here). I'm not even usually a "I need challenge" guy, I play all my games on normal, but yeah.

First boss was actually hard, I died twice and barely killed him when I did, I had to change my deck a few times to adjust too. Second boss was super easy, the whole chapter was in fact. So my advice, play on legend, where you actually need to think about your decks and adjust them as needed.

There was an indie racing game on the Wii where you controlled a beam of light... the graphics were pretty simple, but very stylish and cool with a great soundtrack. I loved it, but I just can't remember how it was called. Have you played it?

No, I can't remember the name.

To see 'Defend your Castle' released is pretty remarkable, because the founder of Xgen Studios, Skye Boyes, passed away in 2015.

So to see the games of such an indie legend of the early years of the scene released on modern systems, is a great way of honoring his memory and contributions to the industry.

You might be thinking of Lilt Line, maybe? Only reason I remember it was because there was a demo when WiiWare was a thing. (Demos are good, devs. Never enough demos.)

So dark souls is gonna be $29.99? Meh should have been $19.99 tbh. Game can be had cheaper everywhere else and given a huge chunk of switch owners have a ps4 as well makes it an even sillier price.

Just a reminder that a demo for Super Dragon Ball heroes is out on the eshop.

We talked about it some pages ago and the majority of us that took the bullet and got it, loved the game and it's card mechanics.
For everyone on the fence you can try the demo finally.

Also the game got an update adding more cards and extra missions for free so that's a good sign that the game is getting good support and even more extra content after it came out.

Details about the demo are on the final seconds of the video.

The first impressions of 'Aggelos' are really positive.

H2x1_NSwitchDS_Aggelos_image1600w.jpg

They have nailed the feeling of the controls and the placement of enemies.

It really has this hard to achieve sense of being playing a 90s Japanese game.

The game is heavily inspired by the 'Monster Boy' series.

And maybe this is its major problem to shine: regarding the production values, it can't rival with 'Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom', that is a production with a much bigger budget.

But at the same time, there is something charming in playing a new 'Wonder Boy' entry in which the graphics feel so close to an early-gen Mega Drive game.

The game comes from a French studio who comes from the Dreamcast scene, Storybird Games.

They also ported recently 'Gigantic Army' to Switch. A game originally created by Astro Port, one of the most well regarded doujin Japanese studios.

This deep knowledge of the Japanese classics (and having worked close to Japanese developers), can clearly seen in the superb level design of 'Aggelos'.

Haha, this game popped into my head recently for the first time in years - I remember getting really into it back when it was just a browser game, probably in the mid 00s sometime?

It's tragic that the original Backyard Football will forever be shackled to those NFL licenses. I can't see that one ever getting a rerelease, and that makes me depressed.

But in the meantime, I'll settle for the hilarious Spy Fox 2 (and maybe grab the other two that I never had the chance to try). I spent waaaaay too much time on that bonus shmup minigame as a kid. In fact, now that I think about it, it might be the first shmup that I ever really played obsessively and the first game-within-a-game that overshadowed its source for me. It might not look like much, but it was fun, and that's all that matters.
