December through March are the worst fucking months

Yeah, but at least it's the shortest offseason in sports. Superdraft is in a few weeks!

USMNT reaching new lows, MLS reaching new highs.

It's such a shame we didn't make the WC.

MLS might be reaching new highs in popularity, but their backend dealings have been nothing but shameful.

The Expansion Draft for LAFC is today at 2pm EST.

Am I part of the problem? Ever since the US failed miserably, I don't feel like watching soccer at all and probably won't for awhile. I am a fairly new fan, but only really tune in during the WC and follow MLS every now and again.

Having been to the last two MLS finals, this time meant a lot to me! To go out the way we did last year was terrible for anyone who follows and loves TFC. We sure bounced back, and had an amazing year. And we got to top it off with a Championship win... 11 years in the making.

I totally skipped work yesterday to make it down to the square for the parade and celebration.

Can't wait to order my new TFC jersey with the championship star!

That's our captain! Huge part of why we shut teams down, and a real class act off the field.

He was almost lost in the sauce... It's all good though, he can party for the rest of the week!

Our 2022 World Cup team better be fucking amazing. We have so much time now to scout for young talent, blood them and mold them into a cohesive unit. There is no excuse for not putting out a very strong squad this time around.

I don't think LA is keeping any of these guys, they're gonna try and see what they can get for them.

how the heck did ESPN draw fewer viewers than TSN??

It's because soccer is treated like a big deal by Canadian media whereas it isn't in the US. The Toronto media often has Toronto FC on the front page of the newspaper. You see their highlights right alongside the Maple Leafs, Blue Jays and Raptors on all the sports shows.
If the US media decides to treat MLS the way the Canadian media does then it would get more popular. If they continue to ignore it, then it will take a lot longer.

What a week for Raheem, shit.

From laughing behind Jozy as he derides MTL during the TFC parade... To ending up on MTL after being taken in Expansion Draft by LAFC. Sad times.

Yeah, I don't think Montreal thought about that one well, at both ends. Sucks to lose Raheem, but I get it.

The rumor among RBNY twitter is we'll get Brilliant and a buttload of TAM for him.

UGH. Why do they need to do this every offseason
It's gotten to the point where RBNY has a hard time not playing Davis. He's got the stuff to be the face of the club going forward and as much as I love Sacha he's not getting any younger.

Between Davis and Ketia, I'm not sure we can't afford to lose Sacha. I think it opens the squad up to play that 4-2-2-2 that Jesse wanted to last season and gives up a bit more versatility in terms of formation. We won't be stuck needing to play a traditional 10 all the time.

Nice OT.

I'm ready for another bad season as a DC United fan. At least the stadium will be finished next year.

Ciman being traded is pretty shitty. Dude signed with Montreal so he could get special care for his autistic daughter, and now this happens.

And he doesn't seem happy at all.

You have to feel for him... They did him dirty.

What a week for Raheem, shit.

It's going to suck seeing hi play for another team... Especially after the great run he had this year.

I read a story a while back alleging that American soccer is in its current state because it's mostly a rich white peoples' game. I caught it while wondering why soccer in the US doesn't have a street culture the way basketball and gridiron football do, or the way soccer is considered the ultimate "democratic game" everywhere else in the world. The article suggested that street culture actually does exist among immigrants, many of whom may secretly be the best young players in the country, but they inevitably get priced out of the American soccer scene.

I'm less salty about losing the Allocation Money than the international spot. We'd better still be getting Barco, and I have no idea how everyone is going to fit on the roster. Also worried that this move will limit Carleton's playing time this season.

All that being said, really excited to have a talented player like Nagbe joining the squad. Lots of MLS experience too, and he won't be expected to provide the goals on this team so that should hopefully ease the pressure.

This is weird. I think it's a good deal with the amount of Allocation Money we got, and we definitely needed to dump Arokoyo, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not going to miss the dude. His ability to spark the attack was unmatched, and Atlanta is getting a great player. Plus like, he was one of the original MLS Timbers. I don't think he ever took to Portland the way people like Valeri did, however. Anyway, I wish him the best. This offseason is scary as a Timbers fan.

In the context of these more recent deals (Dom Dwyer, Nagbe), it's like NYRB gave away Dax McCarty for almost nothing.

I dig the move by ATL. I think Tata is going to raise Darlington's game and the town is going to treat him and his fam with nothing but love.

The Ciman trade is still so crazy to me, not only because of Toronto's own Edwards being on Montreal now - just after winning the domestic treble, but because of the personal reasons that brought Ciman to Montreal in the first place. That's well established and known. I want to see LAFC acknowledge those needs and provide something for the dude and his family.

Edit:

Class.

It really does, but that deal opened the door for these.

We're totally gonna get hosed on the Sacha deal though. Calling it now.

I don't care if they win the Cup, just as long as they're still fun to watch.

You better not choke in the Cup, I swear to god Atlanta, I will burn the Benz down
