I'm a little disappointed. If worst comes to worst, however, read the manga. Not the first time a pleasant anime experienced has been snatched away from poor, poor me (and others). But let's put on our positive caps! Season 4 will be released without a hitch and will be entirely indistinguishable from the previous seasons in terms of overall production.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but WIT owns Kabaneri while for AOT they are just contracted to animate it so they really don't have any stakes in the franchise. So it gives them a reason to quit animating the franchise since its too much of a burden on the workers. But who knows there could many reasons why this occurred.
Correct, with Kabanari they reign in all the profit, white with AoT the only extra sales they get, after the initial payout, comes from DvD sales.

I can imagine having the burden of adapting such a huge property with so much financial stake was a serious pain in the ass for Wit, so I can see why they would want out. They probably want to put more focus on Kabaneri.

Considering that Production IG is on the committee of Attack on Titan since season 1 and only behind Pony Canyon and Kodansha, I'm betting on them picking up the series. Even more because both Wit Studio and IG are from IG Port.

Shingeki Episode 53

Well Erwin has overstayed his welcome considering all old folks die someday, and Levi's affiliates have to be reduced. Still dont think Hange is out just yet.

Armin needs to do something instead of sitting there.

Jean continues to prove he is the best after Eren. All his lines getting every to do something than just wait and die, Mikasa even doing something beyond just chasing to Eren was great too.

Probably my favorite episode so far. Hatori's backstory kind of gave me Yakuza 0 vibes.

Starting to think Akito is not the most friendly person. So seahorse is the dragon? (mentioned sea dragon at one point).

There are like...dozens of series every season. You didn't have to watch this one lol.
You don't need to watch this series or the really small quantity of Isekai. There's many options which aren't those out there. lol I don't know why to insist in genres people don't like.

Of course, I'm stopping. But you guys are acting like these aren't big trends in anime right now. I'm saying I find those trends stale and frustrating and that it sours me on otherwise enjoyable shows.

Seahorse is the Dragon. In Japanese it translates to something like Dragon's Son.

Season 2 of Bungo Stray Dogs is pretty damn good so far. I'm really enjoying it. I honestly wished I had seen it sooner.

Man, Isekai in anime is like 2 at most of the times with 40 anime available (summer for ex, is an exception, which even then still is nothing compared to the total). It's too few and can be easily ignored haha

And as far as romcom harem, this is a thing that is out since the 80s so idk why the surprise. õ_o

I don't know man. I'm watching a dozen shows and two of them have harem elements. (Wise Man's Grandson...kinda, and Shield Hero.) I already feel like I'm watching too many shows, so honestly it feels like how many series do you need per season?

Harem are certainly common though, I won't argue that.

Saki Ogasawara aka Chaki-chan was also voiced behind Akane and MHA's Kendo and it doesn't sound a very pleasant news. I wish for her best speed recovery and I hope she can beat the cancer.

I'm waiting for this season to finish so I can binge it but what does this mean for the anime nub? No more high quality AOT?
Who knows.
could end up no one wants to do it so this could be the end of the attack on titan anime (unlikely)
could end up at a studio like JC Staff (like one punch man this season) (bleh but not super unlikely that a studio like them could do it)
could end up at studio that would excel at the series such as Madhouse or Bones (unlikely)
could even end up at a newly founded studio put together for such a project (also unlikely)

Is this season of Attack on Titan gonna get to the weird Nazi-analogue stuff I've seen floating around from the manga? I've enjoyed the show thus far (though forgot it was airing this season, will have to catch up). Honestly not even sure how valid that stuff is. I've seen images of the armbands and read some surface level corollaries and it seems pretty damning, but I dunno. Guess I should do some more research at some point. Only recently learned of it.

Aaaaaaanyway.

I wasn't really feeling Jojo Part 5 for a while, but ever since Trish on the airplane I feel like it's been spot-on nonstop. Or maybe since the encounter with the boss. Doppio especially has been a high point. But I think before they ran into the boss the first time, it felt... aimless? Like a return to part 3, which was already my least favorite part, but without the knowledge that Dio was gonna show up eventually. Who doesn't like Dio? The boss is such an unknown. Or was. Now I watch every episode, rapt entirely. I can't wait to see more and more. Green Tea is some insidious horrific shit and these two baddies are top tier insane Jojo enemies.

I love it.

Oh gosh.

Why would Madhouse or Bones not take up such an amazing project though. No staff/resources?

They got their own shit going on. Plus, if Madhouse dropped OPM (disclaimer: i think they didn't drop it so much as didn't have the time to pick it back up), why would AoT be a priority?

Madhouse in general often doesn't even take up season seasons of their own shows.
And Bones would rather continue working on other stuff. They already have MHA which is a lot of commitment for them.

It's not easy just stepping in and taking over, a lot of people would expect it to be how it was in the past or they would hate it. It's basically a high risk, low reward type deal with attack on titan as it isn't nearly as popular as it once was.

you also don't have the advantage of your people already being familiar with the characters with tons of practice doing them from previous seasons thus they would basically learn it as a new project with higher stress to meet previous quality.

plus Madhouse and Bones are in high demand in general. They are likely booked for a while.

Talent is spread thin enough across the industry as is. shows like OPM s1 (lol that I have to write s1 now) and Mob are possible not just because of a studio name but also because the creators behind it were able to tap into lots of freelance talent connections that crisscrossed studios. I also imagine if WIT is dropping this then it's probably not a very stable show to produce at this point (either financially or workload-wise for a smaller studio), which means it's probably falling to a larger studio that can afford to put out content regularly. IG makes sense with its WIT connections.

I also don't know what "amazing" means here. If it's about the quality of the content, I think the industry speaks for itself that there's no correlation between content quality and animation quality.

oof, time to outlaw dubs

I'm not sure what you think the original version sounds/reads like but this is a pretty great dub, IMO:

- retains virtually all the meaning of the original lyrics;
- also manages to scan AND rhyme;
- the actors can actually sing (the actors playing the kappa trio are even better in Sarazanmai no Uta, despite some apparent issues with tuning)

It's dumb and weird in Japanese; it's dumb and weird in English (note that both these adjectives are meant in a positive sense, as this is undoubtedly my favourite currently airing show).

They are all currently too busy, and it takes around two to three years of planning before an anime gets released. I don't know if they are willing to take the risk as by then as the manga should already be nearing its end, or be finished already.

I wonder if Madhouse has started planning the 13 episodes of Hunter X Hunter they could make :P

Kinema Citrus is almost unheard of?
they worked with bones on Tokyo Magnititude 8.0, Worked with White fox on Is the order a Rabbit, and did Revue Starlight, Barakamon and Made in Abyss. (and a number of other shows that aren't nearly as notable such as Black Bullet and Code Breaker :P)

I kind of guessed. I also know there was an anime in the last 6 months that was mid profile or so that an animation company was put together to produce, but I can't remember which one and I can't easily find it lol.

looking through stuff though White Fox is kind of crazy.

Steins;Gate was the third show they ever worked on
Katanagatari was the second show they ever worked on
their first show... Tears to Tiara :P

Kinema Citrus is also way too small to handle something like titan

I don't think anyone was implying that they should pick up attack on titan.
that being said I would rather they get it over someone like J.C.Staff :P

We likely have a while until we hear anything either way. (though it's obviously going to go to GEMBA. If they are good enough for Bersek then obviously they are good enough for AoT :3)

4 episodes in Kakegurui and it's been a lot of fun so far. It basically feels like a Kaiji-lite (one of my all time favourite shows) but if anything that's more meant as a compliment rather than a negative. Eager to see how crazy it will get!

I watched episode 4 of Utena this morning before my commute. Hehe I like how this episode focus on Miki, and Nanami has certain importance in this episode.

Basically it's a foreshadowing about Anthy being the sister of someone, considering the feelings of Miki regarding her sister (and he said how she remind to her) and how basically Nanami has certain feelings for Touga (very different to Miki and her sister)

Kimetsu no Yaiba 07

The most amazing part of this episode happened in the last 5 minutes.

Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai 07

Holy shit a girl in a harem anime having a moment of reflection and not wanting to fall in love with a boy her friends already crush on? Progress!!!

Bungou Stray Dogs 31

Episode was poorly rushed but I still enjoyed it a lot. Had the episode been faithful to the manga adaptation, it would've been goat-tier for me.
Kyouka's background story felt it was straight out of a B-movie with the ninja's randomly trying to assassinate her parents, execution could've been much more believable; if anyone read the manga, the nuances shown of the headmaster and Atsushi's relationship during the flashbacks would articulate Dazai's last line much better.

I love Bones but Kyouka and Atsushi's story arc could've been separated in two episodes.

I have had Kaiba on my blue ray backlog for ages, and now Crunchyroll is streaming it. Teaches me for buying blue rays and never watching them, lol.

Still getting through the Hidamari Sketch blue rays, which is streaming, just on a service I don't have. I don't have much to say about it, but I am liking it a lot, and some of the stylistic choices are great, especially for a slice of life show.

funimation released a short video explaining why Momiji sounds the way he does in the fruits basket dub

short version story reasons and the author seems like she wanted him to have a clear german accent.

So...what's up with Carole & Tuesday? Reading thru old pages in this thread and it seems like the response has been a bit mixed which is disheartening. But then again I feel like the first few weeks for Space Dandy were similar.

It's a perfectly likeable show but the production quality isn't anywhere near where you'd want it to be.
