I think this episode showed there was a lot of potential for an amazing finale. My expectations were so low, I was easily able to look over a lot of the logical fallacies, and just enjoy it. I actually have some feels, and think, overall, it's a good ending that needed more time, like this whole season. The season is bad overall, but I like the ending, if I turn off my brain. Seeing these characters go into the distance would have brought a tear to my eye if there was a proper transition to everything. So much has led up to it, and the characters all deserve these ending. It's obvious these are GRRM's. They couldn't deliver it right though.

For the love of God, GRRM, please finish these books. In the future, I hope for an amazing Graphic Novel adaptation, and well-done animated series. I dont think the actual live action show could be done again, but I'll take anything else. Sad that D&D rushed this to finish Star Wars. They wont be known for that, but for falling flat before the finish line.

I'm now sad knowing a graphic novel adoption will never be done.

Grey Worm is obviously in charge at that point and the man does not allow anyone to threaten his queen. Yet here you have one man who betrayed her and another who killed her. Both manage to live and get freed.
He also knew killing Jon would've sealed their fate by fighting another war but without a magical beast behind them this time. As for Tyrion, that is just bad writing.

LOL oh my god they literally did add him petting the dog in post because people bitched about it on twitter.

That's amazing.

Source? Which episode? You understand we have access to the entire series right now, right? Is that why you didn't say which episode that was from?

I honestly can't think of many shows that actually end gracefully and without making people mad in some way. Is what it is, i've endured so much worse, at least here I get to see a somewhat happy ending for characters I like.
Black Sails
Person of Interest
Marco Polo ended well despite cliff-hangers.
Once Upon A Time (X2 and the second even redeemed an awful soft reboot season)

As if the unsullied and Dothraki has any chance against the entire army of Westeros + northmen. They realized their army ain't all that shit without Dany's dragon fire breathing down everywhere. It was negotation for peace or fighting a losing war that would've ended them on a foreign land.

Neither the Dothraki or the Unsullied care about dying. They would all fight to the last man quite literally.

That ending left me feeling incomplete. The fans deserved and expected more. The past two seasons felt too rushed. That ending just didn't feel right. I don't know if anything they did would have appeased the fans with this much hype and anticipation, but what they did fell short.

They felt rushed because they were. We needed two full seasons, not two shortened ones. Those 7 episodes we were robbed became really obviously absent as we got towards the end.

The actual story is fine, in terms of plot points. It's funny because people complained that Ep2 of this season was boring or unnecessary but it's exactly what we needed more of. Character moments, interactions, dialogue.

But in many ways I don't know if D&D could've made those 7 episodes worthwhile. They were clearly at a loss without source material due to George. Lose/lose situation for them probably, but seriously even 1 more episode devoted to having Dany fall apart before she did what did would've helped. Or 1 whole episode leading up to Jon killing her and having the finale be just what's after.

The Jon Snow and Ghost comparison seems fake to me. Quickly looked through the relevant Season 4 episodes and that shot does not exist.

Man, I envy you so much. But I am legitimately happy to hear that some people found it satisfying.

Thank you. I hope you can eventually come to accept it with time. I know it wasn't everyone's cup of tea but even as a book reader I found it to be a logical conclusion that needed a few more episodes to really flesh the story out, but I'm fine with filling in the blanks in my own mind.

They could have killed him and left. Ships were available and there was no one to stop them. No one from the north or the rest of Westoros is going to get there in time to do anything.

They literally waited for them to arrive.

You're getting this wrong. They're the largest army in westeros and have the backing of dorne and the iron isles. They would destroy the north

So house Lannister and Stark won... Fuck this shit. Tyrion as the hand (the true ruler), Sansa in the north and Bran going full 3 eye Raven hunting dragons? Nah, dog. Not like this.

And obviously Jon is going to seduce some free folk up there in the true north.

Consequences? None.

So they called on the rest of Westoros to come to King's Landing and decide what to do with their prisoners? After that was decided they finally had a plan to go back east?

I still can't believe that they just skipped over the fallout of Jon killing Danny. Like what? They just spent 30 minutes reinforcing Grey Worm's commitment to her command, her armies cheering, etc

Like there was even a Jon / Grey Worm confrontation early on, as if the show wanted to reinforce the current dynamic between the two to set up the aftermath of the fateful moment later.

Because the logical jump would be Grey Worm killing Jon on the spot. We literally just had a major scene last episode showing how his lover's death sent him into murderous vengeful rage

The only way to have Jon kill Danny and not having Jon immediately killed is to just skip over the aftermath entirely

what if Dany warged into Drogon when she died?

jk
I know that's a joke but then Drogon would have insta-incinerated Jon lol

Drogon is going to the ruins of Old Valyria where Dany will become an all powerful eldritch horror
Yes please

I want this now! Fuck Eldtrich Euron, give me Eldtrich Daenerys Stormborn, let's gooooo

btw i just want to point that paralyzed man can have have kids and sex, unless sansa has deep knowledge of bran penis which i doubt she knows, she's assuming something that can be potentially wrong
Bran being unable to father children is canon in the books too. Perhaps GRRM just didn't quite know it was possible though, or he just decided that Bran's condition left him sterile.

The author of the books told them that Jon kills Dani, Bran becomes king, Jon gets sent back to the wall, Sansa becomes queen in the North and Arya is now a sailor.

I mean, what could D&D do with this stupid cliff notes?

lmao
The scene at the table where they go through all of the formalities of addressing Bran just seemed like a joke, or parody on SNL. Felt so stupid.
seriously it was also self parody

also holy shit at Sam going "What is this, some kind of song of ice and fire?" so fuckin bad

Uhh.. no. They were the largest army because the number also included the northern army. They all respectively lost half of their army during the zombie invasion. Dorne was behind Dany because they wanted Cersei dead. And now she's gone. They have no reason to support bunch of foreign army after Dany's death.

I really feel sorry for the talented casts and directors that the two people at the top wanted to finish off the series so fast to get that Disney money.

Could have been something even more special with satisfying final seasons.

The more you think about it the dumber the king voting scene becomes. Should just have had Jon and Tyrion get a trial by combat against Grey Worm, Jon wins and then the unsullied go off and then the dumb kings vote happens but at least it makes some sense why it's allowed to happen.

Then Jon fucks off cause he's so tired of all this shit.

Eh. There was a ton of mess to clean up, but at least the starks got a W and most of the characters we cared for also got a W.

This season wasn't very good, but the ending wasn't as bitter sweet as I thought it was going to be.

They did the only thing they could have done in this situation.

Have tyrion shuffle chairs around for five minutes and then make a joke about how he didnt do anything

This is why people don't waste time reading threads about entertainment mediums on Era.

Going back through one page was more than enough for me. Some of you people are insufferable and I can't imagine being around you in real life.

This is what I've been saying. Imagine being with the average person posting here at a watch party. The rest of the party would kick them out 5 minutes in lol

I didn't even enjoy the first two episodes of the season that others generally liked so looking at the reactions, I think I'll just.. Not watch the rest of the season. I can't see it doing anything other than even further souring me on GoT overall.

I guess I'll join the "please finish the books, GRRM!" club.

One of the coolest visuals the show has ever done.

Well, after the shit-show that was this entire season, I went in prepared to be completely underwhelmed, or even numb to whatever they could possibly decide to do. I didn't actually dislike this episode, and I guess it was probably the best of this season...whatever that's worth. I expected Jon to kill Dany, so I guess at least that expectation wasn't subverted. Never expected Bran of all people to take the crown though, despite all of the joking about it over the previous weeks. Don't really understand why Jon didn't claim his birthright. Does being a Queenslayer somehow prevent him from taking what was rightfully his in the first place?

No they weren't. The show even says, before teaming up with the north she has the largest army. The north have nothing after constant war and fighting the white walkers. Its laughable that they think they're going to do anything against the unsullied and dothraki forces. Hell the numbers on screen this episode alone is larger than any force seen previously.

based on the conversation between jon and tyrion i feel like a song of ice and fire is ultimately a story of temperance/duty vs passion/love, and looking back at the whole story with that lens, i have a deeper appreciation for all the pivotal events.

It's just odd. It goes agaisnt everything Grey Worm would do for his Queen.

He is perhaps the most loyal person at her side from nearly the start.

How the hell did EW had this ready to go so soon? This reporter knew the ending and interviewed Emilia and Kit so long ago and they spoke about their fates? How the ever living hell did EW got this kind of access???
It's entertainment journalism... the access is the only reason they're still relevant.

Just think about all the game preview shit that Game Informer still gets. lol
