60fps confirmed for RE4 is very nice. Here's to hoping it's 720p handheld, has proper frame pacing, and actually has mip-mapping enabled.

Great news to hear these ports are good. Motion gimmicks are things I find really annoying in games like these (unless it's a rail shooter, melee combat game or something like a NES Zapper game, as motion works brilliantly with those. I'd love for the RE Rail shooters to get Switch ports with motion controls) and it's why I can't play the Wii Metroid Prime Trilogy due to how clunky it feels, using a stick to move around and then waggle around to aim faster than I would like.. I like when it's an option instead of it being forced on you. Should have made RE4 a standalone retail game though due to the price.

I currently have REV 1/2 to play through and beat as a newcomer to the series, and I dropped Rev 1 quickly due to the lack of local co-op, but I don't want to play Rev 2 or the other gamest out of timeline order if I can help it. Is there even much of a story to these games to pay attention to, and if so, should I get 0/1 then go back to Rev? 0 looks like a lot of fun in particular.

Man I really wish one of the regions got a physical release of the games. I would be all over it. I'll probably cave and get RE4 digitally

I read that loading times in RE0/1 when opening doors were longer than in other versions. Anyone knows if that's true?

It's not true. I watched gameplay of REmake on Switch and load times are identical to other versions.

There's a video of RE0 floating around with long load times, but it's due to the user's system being hacked.

I thinking I'll pick up RE1. I made it up to the lab in the PS4 version. I like the idea of holding all those cozy camera perspectives of the Spencer Estate in the palm of my hand. <3

I also imagine the pre-rendered backdrops look insane on a portable screen.

Does this unlock at midnight EST?

Sometimes! The biggest issue with gyro is having to recalibrate it every few minutes. But RE4's unique gameplay is actually pretty much perfect for the cursor could just reset
every time you lifted the gun to aim, which would offer something truer to how the original GNC game controlled, starting off from a neutral position.

I imagined if Capcom were do any more than the copy-paste job, they would be charging full price.

It's disappointing for sure. I don't think there is enough noise in the world to get a company like Capcom to develop, test, and release an update for motion controls - whether the game sells amazing or abysmally. It's not exactly a lift from the Wii version, they'd need to do *some work.

Love your channel btw

It's not crazy. Firstly it wouldn't be the first switch game to get gyro controls patched in (when Doon 2016 on Switch did so is when I bought it). Secondly as others have said often they did something very similar on RE4 Wii and with RE Revelations 2.

Am I surprised Capcom didn't do it? No. But given this is $10 more is it reasonable to be very disappointed that they didn't? 100%.

Overpriced ports.
No new features for the expensive price.
Two out of three games only digital.
No fixing existing problems with this port, when the price, again, raised compared with the other versions.

Yeah, how entitled of us.
Freaking capcom stans.

I have no stake in this fight (all I ask for is a nice RE4 icon), but I'd just like to point out it goes both ways: gamers aren't entitled to anything, obviously, but Capcom is also not entitled to gamers' money. In other words: it's a consumer product, so feedback on the value proposition is expected.

I'm quite disappointed myself. I love gyro aim like no other, I wish Naughty Dog patched them into Uncharted!

It's a crappy situation because it's still the GOAT, on a handheld, and the publisher just refuses to do it justice. Even a few updates with a 'Switch edition' could have justified a 40$ price and could have sold well over a million. I wonder if this overpriced release can hit a million on Switch.

The achievements for 4 are pretty lame (and spoilers if you haven't beaten the game). It's just awards for progressing through the story, and then an award for 100% completion

Played a bit of both so far undocked (30 minutes or so of each) and generally my impressions of the ports are positive, RE4 more so (Aside from the lack of Gyro and HD rumble which I knew about going in)

RE4 - Looks and runs great in portable mode with fast loading and no noticeable hitches or drops in framerate. But I'm not as sensitive to drops if it's only a couple dropped here or there, plus only in the village. No option to adjust aim sensitivity, but it felt fine to me with the Joycons nor options to enable 30FPS. Motion blur is disabled by default. There is an option to enable rumble which is defaulted to off that I switched to on but I didn't notice any rumble with it on).

RE1 - Looks as well as the HD ports should, but something about the experience feels ever so slightly weird, I don't think the game is dropping frames at all, but sometimes it feels like there's very tiny, sometime microsecond hangs or what I'm guessing might be loading in the prerendered backgrounds when moving around? It hasn't impaired my run as Chris on the hardest difficulty, but it's not ideal.

Also the rumors of door loads taking awhile, it's true for RE1 at least and my Switch is unmodified. It's not every door transition but certain ones do take like an additional second or two to load up in addition to the door animation.

Nobody is forcing you to buy it so I do not see the problem. If you don't like the ports or the price go buy it on another platform. Sheeeeesh

Bought resi 4

Runs and looks good. I had some minor frame drops but very rare.

I only played undocked and it seems to run in the switches native resolution. Everything looked really sharp. Game is 60fps but some parts, like the rifle loading animation are 30fps...looks odd.

What are these achievements pop-ups? I can't remember them in other versions of the game?

Just reading this seems to me that you've been living under a rock. Most people who play on the Switch don't have a single joy-con for aiming. You play exactly like normal, except your entire controller can help with that final adjustment when aiming. When I finally touched a game that doesn't have motion controls, like Dragon's Dogma, I found myself not being to aim at all. It's terrible. It's accuracy tenfold when it's a feature. It's like asking a mouse and keyboard player to play only with a keyboard.

So no criticism allowed.
Just a bunch of entitled fans, who have to be grateful that Capcom is allowing us to play this game.

No thank you.
Resident evil is my favorite series and Resident evil 4 is my favorite of the series, I have bought the damn game in every platform that has been released, and I was excited for this. But this is just bullshit.
The port cost $10 more than any other version, and they didnt put anything to even justify that price increase, hell they havent even bothered in fixing the problems this port had in the first place in other platforms.
So I will criticize them as much as I want.

Ah so we reached the 'entitled' phase. Surprised it took this long TBH. It is alarming how pro-corporate this place is at times but it becomes all too apparent in situations like this.

I can't even fathom it here but whatever. Not surprised but still disappointed.

Not usually one to care that much about physical releases, but I would've totally copped RE1 on cart, to see that 0 is the only one... fuck naw.

That and the portability tax, waiting for a sale before I buy these games for the umpteenth time. Except for 0, I'm fine only having that on XBO.

While I'm glad that the port seemingly runs fine, I am a bit disappointed at the increased price for no particular reason.

I would have expected some simple gyro aiming. Not necessarily pointer controls a la Wii, but kinda like the Bow aiming in Oot3d where you only move the console around when in aiming mode.

This has been my biggest issue since the announcement. I'm really at a loss as to why these have switch tax when only one is physical.
If every game was physical stand-alone for $30 I could at least understand that. No one would really be complaining about gyro as much if these were feature and price comparable to the X1 and PS4 MSRP.

RE1 was a one and done game for me but I'm thinking about getting RE4 since I never did the bonus stuff and it's fun enough to replay. I tried RE0 briefly a couple years ago but didn't stick to it. I should probably play through it at some point but not at this price.

This and their choice to just give Switch owners just DMC1 from the trilogy collection instead of the full thing has been the most baffling moves they've done in awhile now. Honestly, I'm getting really curious as to what going on internally with all this. Greed? Fall out with Nintendo? Incompetence? Self sabotage? I just really wanna know why they've been pulling these strange moves on the Switch as of late.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's another of Capcom's patented loyalty tests.

GameXplain said that loading is worse in REmake and RE0, and honestly, it looked pretty slow. I can't remember, was it like that for the other ports? If not, that's another strike against these.

If I remember correctly, stuff like the rifle animation is keyframed at 30FPS. There's no fixing that unless Capcom feels like it.

That reminds me, does RE4 have a FPS cap option like the PC version? Playing at 30fps tends to fix some of the bugs related to the new frame rate.

The only bad thing is that professional isn't unlocked on RE4 from the get go, cba with normal difficulty again.

Not this time, stranger

I might've caved if gyro was in for RE4.

Will wait a sale for REmake and RE4 and probably skip RE0 altogether

I kind of wish they would port the original Resident Evil 1 and 2 next. I really want to try the classic versions out.

Buy the DS version of RE1 (Deadly Silence). It's the best version of that game. They're not releasing the original anywhere unless it's deliberately a PS1 Classics thing.

No you cannot. That is entirely on the publisher side saying "we don't care to invest int his, it will sell enough even if we don't."
