Be a friendly ghost – Haunt a house full of girls while you solve puzzles, play tricks and cause trouble

An immersive adventure – Visual Novel elements mixed with 3D environments

Beware your weakness – See too many panties and you will destroy humanity

From the creators of Zero Escape – Written by Kotaro Uchikoshi, of the Zero Escape Trilogy

Live the anime – Based on the critically acclaimed anime, now on Crunchyroll

(There are other screens out there but not sure how appropriate to post in the thread they are. I assume this isn't a banned game, mods? Naturally, I avoided using my other OT title idea - Nine Hours, Nine Panties, Nine Doors.)

I had no idea it was out today. Only got a couple of hours into the JP version before the localisation announcement came out, and I put it on hold.

EDIT: Downloading the Vita version now. Will try blitz through it this next week.

It obviously more Otaku pandering than the Zero Escape games.(I dont really mind,I like me my serious stuff but also pantsu)
But after watching the anime you can clearly tell that its by Uchikoshi.
Especially towards the end with all the twists.
Will be nice to play the game now as its been two years since I saw the anime.
Hope my copy arrives soon.
Will most likely be one of the last few new vita physical copies for me.

What I'm missing is this: usually there's the visual novel and then the anime adaptation. And usually, even if you've watched the anime, there's still reasons to play the visual novel since most of the time there's more content than the adaptation.
This is the opposite. what's new in the visual novel story wise?

From the advice I was given, they said you should watch it and then play the game because it has a different ending.

I heard surprisingly good things about the anime from some people I trust the taste of, so I've meant to watch it... And that plus Uchikoshi are the only reasons I'd even consider doing that and then playing this, given how much I do not enjoy fanservice.

So I'll look forward to impressions here before deciding if I want the US release in a month. Please let us know how tolerable and focused on the pervy stuff is vs the plot.

The anime always felt like it should've had a few more episodes to flesh out more characters, but that's a different topic entirely.

I may grab this on PC...just not right now. Will add it to my wishilst though.

I don't care for fanservice but I'm willing to put up with it as long as the game has something else to offer and I've heard some interesting things about the anime and the VN so I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for impressions.

Damn game didn't get a New Zealand release at all. Got hit by the R18 rating in Australia, guess they feel the cost to get it classified in NZ wasn't worth the few sales they'd get.

I like Uchikoshi enough, I'll probably pick it up.

Ok, beat it and got the platinum in about 13 hours total.
I wouldn't say it really adds much over the anime, just some expansion here and there and a slightly extended ending, so if you've already seen the show you might be better saving your money.

How did you beat it that fast?

Wow, I completely forgot about this one!

Now the question: Vita or PS4.

Yeah, not sure why this was advertised as having an entirely new ending. It might be slightly expanded but it's basically the same as the anime, down to most of the climax just being anime footage. I don't know if there's another ending from picking different dialogue options but the chapter select doesn't look like it leaves room for there to be anything else.

The gameplay elements don't really add much either, the "puzzles" are far too basic, certainly nowhere close to Zero Escape's escape rooms. I'd agree that it doesn't really add that much over just watching the anime.

Was wondering how they'd handle the second half too after seeing the anime, but they just turned it into a pure VN and didn't even try to add gameplay elements

oh well , that's disapointing to hear.
In such busy month with so many heavy hitters , i can't spend money on a story i've already seen even if you add a bit of gameplay into it.
I'll wait then.

I haven't seen the anime myself (not much free time, and when I do have some it goes to games), so does it make sense to just play the game? Or is it necessary to see the anime first?

Just finished the game and got the platinum trophy.

Is the only new thing, in comparison to the anime, the short animation you unlock as a bonus?

No one is talking about this game....haha
so i bought it and tried it ( it was on sale , and it really didnt cost much).

i m clearly sad about this game haha i just began the forth episode....but what the fuck is it ? Hahaha
I never played 999 and the following of the trilogy ( i have the one and two on steam ) but i did play ever 17 like more than 10 years ago...you are telling me this is the same person that did this story ?
i m not against some light story, funny moment or else ( i love higurashi and the beginning of every episode are always childish)....but here nothing make me laugh really.

when playing this , i expect that the story is going to be better but for the moment it's not...so for people that played this game or watch the show, does the story get really better ?

I had a hard time getting through the game too, I was able to finish the anime though.
If you are looking for the classic Uchikoshi writing stuff with body swaps and secret organizations, then yeah the story is veeery backloaded.
If you really can't bother with game anymore try the anime, maybe you could even skip to the last few episodes if you really can't bother with it, it has a lot of twists there, though maybe they'll all fall flat if you aren't really attached to the characters.
I don't even think the game changed much about the story from what I heard? Even though it came much later?

Thanks you for the answer AllEchse . Maybe i m going to try to play the game little by little or watch the animé like you said ( since it's way shorter). But yeah, i thought it was "différent" with better character at least.
