So games aren't male power fantasies then, but college female sex fantasies*.

Wait, women, like men, care that the other person takes care of their body and is active?!

Why is it that sometimes gender roles like this get a pass and everything is normal but in other cases when stuff like this is posted certain parties throw a fit?

Considering this is a no duh article it's be far more interesting to see how this relates to women who are attracted to women.

Or how there's an upper limit. I know no women who would describe a body builder as peak attractiveness of the male body.

Not surprising at all.

What about for guys who are strong but not lean? Favored or less favored over guys who are slim but not muscular?

I'd venture a guess that lean isn't the end all, it's preferred but not required. You could be fit but not lean and I'm sure those in the lean camp would still date you. It seems if you take care of your body and are active then your chances of being liked are better. Just don't overdo it.

This is also a very surface level study it's just here's pictures rank attractiveness...

A far more in depth study would be how personality, intelligence and whatever intersect in the end in terms of dating and long term relationships.

So you (in case you're a older person), do not admire younger bodies?
Well what's funny is that according to a study I once saw, men, by and large, find women around 20-something the most attractive. This effect does not change much as they age.
With women, it's quite different. They said to prefer men much closer to their own age as they got older.
Not sure if those results got replicated anywhere but it certainly SOUNDS true.

Of course, what people go for in relationships as they age and what they would actually want to fuck if they COULD are two very different things.

On one hand this is good because it means you can actually works towards becoming more attractive. Otoh I really don't want to.

But between two bodies of the same age, wouldn't the fit one win out over the other one?

Ya they made it pretty clear that they weren't making any kind of scientific prognostications based on anything other than surface level physical attractiveness. It'd be interesting to do further studies on this and other deeper traits and see how they line up.

Anecdotally I find American women are way more into the buff look than European women. Probably something to do with football (soccer) being the dominant sport here and American football over there.

Eh, that study sounds like complete shit from a statistical perspective. All this proves is college age women at this particular college willing to participate in surveys. Not valid mathematically at all for anything beyond that.

I think we act like health and beauty are separate concepts, two different sliders in an RPG game, but they really aren't.

You can greatly increase your perceived attractiveness by getting in shape.

There's no standard for attractiveness and bullshit like this only serves to prolong that outdated way of thinking.

Lol who hurt you

There is no standard, but there is an ideal. Women are evolutionarily wired to prefer taller, stronger, broad-shouldered men. Just because we don't always end up with a mate with our ideal body type doesn't mean we're not attracted to that mate, but it also doesn't mean that the ideal has disappeared.

As people get older, a variety of other factors (including personality, stability, and wealth) will take higher priority when choosing a mate over chiseled abs, but for a 20 year old living in a dorm?

Life is an upper body business, bro.

Nobody but the Westside GOMAD fart buddies who struggle to find appropriately fitting pants care about max squats.

Bench, though. As the Brofessor said, no one cares what your name is, unless it starts with "315" and ends with "for 10"
