Sorry about the double post...but I just updated the Facebook app and Jesus. It's really laggy and sluggish now. Anyone else having this issue?

On a Samsung s8 plus with 7.xx os
one of the best things i ever did was uninstalling the app and just logging in through the browser if i had to. fb doesn't give a shit about android

What default messaging app should I be using on android? I've been too lazy to switch from using hangouts through Project Fi but the lack of search (and that I can't see all attachments/pictures in a chat) is starting to really get on my nerves.

Is the Galaxy Note 8 a good phone? My S7 Edge fought the leg of my desk at work and lost.

I am thinking of moving from Verizon to T Mobile (bringing the wife along) and they have a BOGO on Samsung phones (which I have liked)

For me it is between the S8 + and Note if I were to go Samsung ....

Rumor is it's only ATT and it's only Huawei:

Yeah at&t probably is easier. They need some Qualcomm modem for CDMA which means a new model. Maybe for p11.

Also dang.

Someone posted this on reddit for their pixel xl on 8.1 that moved the nav buttons a bit.

I started seeing image retention on mine so started using nav bar apps to change it to the color of the open app. This should be a setting in stock Android.

So I am going to go switch to T Mobile in a bit and get the Note 8. Kinda excited! Kinda apprehensive :P

LMAO

Google is going to be giving away a lot of free Pixel 3 XL to people sending in Pixel 2 XL for warranty replacement.

I should buy a cheap Pixel 2 XL after the price crashes just to upgrade it for free to Pixel 3 XL when the time comes.

Nononono, this can't be. This doesn't happen on good Samsung displays and is just an AMOLED myth from 2012!
It takes the Samsung displays at least a year to show any visible burn-in of static elements like the notification bar. These phones have been available for a few weeks. Those displays are going to be absolutely ruined after a year.

Knowing my luck, my 2 XL will be just fine like my 6P. Actually, I'm fine with that as long as they keep the same sweet trade-in price.

My 6P still has no battery issues.

If the P-OLED display behaves anything like the watches do, it might be that the burn-in disappears after a few days. But that might also not be the case, I never kept a watch face for longer than 3 days so the burn-in wasn't permanent. Never tested how long until the image retention actually stuck.

I've never changed the watch face of my LG Watch R and there's 0 burn in

I'm not seeing any burn-in on my launch Pixel XL. Is there something jacked up about the Pixel 2 models that's leading to burn-in/image retention, or am I blind?

Also, I took a few weeks off from the Chrome Beta app, and they've apparently returned everything to the top? That's depressing.

I wasn't using the beta, so how do you mean? Did they move the address bar to the bottom?

If so, glad they changed it back. Kinda hate it on the Samsung browser.

Different tech. Yours is an AMOLED, the XL2 has a Plastic-OLED.

Bring up a white screen, you should at least see some of the fixed elements as shadows. I did on my R.

So as my 5x finally succumbed to the rebooting issue and I expected repairs to take a good while I picked up a used iPhone. Surprised how many things I miss. In a way it's like going back in time.

That said, it does not suffer from the Bluetooth issues I've had with android phones syncing with my blood glucose metre.

Turned out of course my 5x has been repaired (took 5 days) so I'll have both.

Okay so I got my phone! I asked for them not to set it up .... but now I am lost with what to do. I am working on patching/apps/Android updates at the moment.

I am only going from an S7 to the Note, so you figure it wouldn't be that bad ....

Sorry updating. I am manually transferring my apps right now to clean clutter .... gotta figure out how to transfer my contacts. Last time I did this (with my S7) it took all my email contacts from my gmail account and made a MESS.

Use Smart Switch. That's Samsungs app to migrate phones.

So I played with the Essential phone. Thing is on fire sale in Canada lol. Am I missing something on why everyone's hating on it? Design looks good, screen looks good, specs seem good, camera is shite but it's crazy cheap so whatever.

Really curious to find out more info on the S9.

So far it really just seems like a slightly refined S8 with better finger print sensor placement and (hopefully) dual cameras on the S9+.

Guess I don't really know what to look forward to in 2018 phones other than the basic incrimental uogrades. More efficient/longer battery life? Super fast charging? Faster Retina scanning? Mind reading Bixby?

Yeah, I ended up being given a 6S from work and man, things like the time to draw in the home screen from animation just kill me. That and considering all I need it for is calls and email, notifications still blow hard.

Mostly for me it's googly things, its also LastPass which really is gimped on iOS compared to android.

Even getting all my contacts over was a hassle. Not sure how I'll keep my contacts synced between this and google.
