Can someone explain to me why Cod is selling so exceptionally well despite being a full priced title with lootboxes?

As someone who has no interest in FPS or multiplayer titles it's striking me as weird when EA is taking flak for all the stuff and Activision gets a free pass.
CoD is really fun imo and this year game is really a step forward compared with previous years.

Lootboxes are no where Pay to Win like BF2.

COD returned to WWII, which was what fans wanted them to do for the longest time. Hype was immense since reveal, which boosts sales a lot. Also, I don't think COD loot boxes are pay-to-win unless I'm mistaken, and don't grind progression to a halt, which is what SWBFII and Need for Speed got blasted for.

I'm not from France but here the majority of the holiday sales are from a week before Christmas not 2, is it different there?
I'm not sure how it works, but all the outlets refer to this week being X-mas week for sales, at least for the UK.

Ah okay, we need some numbers goddamit. I'm also curious as to why CoD WWII is not in the top 5 there, are bundles counted?
In the French chart? It's right there at no. 1.

Most of the online shooter alternatives have lootboxes too. COD has been shooter king for a long time and EA/Lucasarts fucked up badly with Battlefront 2 so they got to absorb a bunch of those players.

December is usually big all around on Europe, many people do their shopping weeks before Xmas to avoid last minute rush.

But yeah this week we are now and last week should be much much bigger for everything and I mean everything.

Take progression away and for me, BF2 is superior to WW2 in every single way. COD is basically the same game as it has been since 2010 ish just re-skinned.

I enjoy the SP campaigns of COD games but the MP is just too rinse and repeat. I don't feel like I'm playing in WW2 as it is essentially a glorified arena shooter but without the balance.

BF1 is far better in that whilst its nowhere close to WW1 it does capture a lot of the "feels" of a WW1 battle albeit without much accuracy. But COD WW2 MP is ridiculously far from anything experienced in WW2 and doesn't even have any feel or spirit to redeem it in any way.

Some people like BF, some people like CoD. Nothing wrong. Sometimes CoD is bad, Sometimes BF is bad.

Yes Xbox is very weak in France. Even during the best years of the 360, Microsoft could never challenge Sony in France. The PS4 is a monster in France, we're talking about PS2 level domination. So for Odyssey and Deluxe to be in front of Fifa, in December ? That's just HUGE ! The numbers in France are going to be record breaking for sure.
The install base numbers were posted just 1 page ago. Nothing remotely close Ps2 level domination.

I know I live in Europe, but here in The Netherlands the sales are incredibly frontloaded in only 2 weeks throughout december, and last week was very poor for the company I work for. I wanted to know how the situation is in France. Here for example, the last minute rush is still incredibly apparent so them trying to avoid that is not something we've experienced

Where is Cod ww2 not in the top 5?it's first everywhere.
I was looking at something else entirely, screw up on my part. Just woke up too lol

Oh I missed the pay-to-win part in BFII, makes sense now. Thanks.

The demand for Xbox One S fall off a cliff since the beginning of 2017 in France like everywhere else in Europe* and first half of 2017 in US and the demand for Xbox One X is not big in France(Amazon chart) and France preorders were open for 5 days in Micromania(GameSpot) for only 5000 consoles for all the country.( Number gives by a friend...).

That's very likely. Its upper bound is 70k (SWBFII performance), so and AC:Origins is over 22k (quite possibly much higher even), so unless PUBG leans very closely to AC:origins, it will have easily outsold Forza 7.
Or we just wait for the CoD split and have a way better range, as the game is behind the Ps4 Version and above Xb1.

Fine, but what has that to do with Ps4 being not even close to Ps2 level domination in France?

Battlefield is so boring... Battlefront is a bit less boring... CoD is so fun imo.

It is a matter of taste.

But something is a fact... the weird mtx and lootboxes presents in Battlefront 2 are not present in WW2.

The generation is not finished maybe at the end of PS4 sales, they will approach the 6 millions of PS4 sales like the PS2... it is huge but 5 millions is not out of the scope...
